Wincons and other ideas!

AmazingGrace15, 9 years ago

I added some win conditions to the description as well as some other cards to the mainboard that will help make this deck amazing, such as Beastmaster Ascension, Mirari's Wake, Privileged Position and many more!

I also figured I'd clean up the comments as well!

Thanks!

Cleaning up a bit

Road-Kill, 9 years ago

Cleaning up a bit of the deck. Seemed that mana was always an issue, so I added a couple lands, added a few mana rocks and cleaned up some of the cards that didn't work out during play. Always looking for feedback and recommendations to this deck.

Wednesday Night Magic First Tournament

Arsony, 9 years ago

Went 3-1 at the first tournament I've taken this deck too. I've updated the list to reflect the changes I'm making for the second tournament tonight. It performed very well. I managed to Brisela 3 times. Round 1 vs Bant Company: Mulled down to 5 on game 1 because I didn't shuffle enough prior to match--the game went long and it was very close, but I didn't get there. I went on to win Games 2 and 3 without breaking a sweat. Landed Brisela both games thanks to Lancers. Round 2 vs Mono Red Burn: Very aggressive Burn deck--I really liked what he was doing with this deck. I took game one with a Brisela which pretty much canceled anything he tried. Gisela really carried me with lifelink and Selfless Spirit / Avacyn protected my creatures. The key to the match-up seemed to be knowing when to let a creature die and when to protect them. After Side Boards I brought in Negates and easily took game 2. Round 3 vs B/W Eldrazi: Interesting deck focused on hand removal with transgress, thought-not, and mind bender. It was rough. I lost game one because he stripped all my threats with a great draw. After side boards I was able to use Jace and Gideon to maintain board presence and negates to protect them. I took games 2 and 3 in this manner. Round 4 vs U/W Midrange: This was a rough match-up. I played a little to aggressively and would have probably taken game 3 if I had paid a little more attention. It was late and honestly the deck lost because my own faults. Updates to deck: After this tournament I've added essence fluxes since they work so well with Rattlechains, Relfector Mage, Avacyn, Spell queller, Thalia's Lancers, and Knight of the White Orchid. I playtested them after the tournament and I feel like they will do amazing things for me tonight. Will update Saturday with what happens tonight and at FNM.

grumbledore, 9 years ago

decided to use a good portion of this to build out legacy pox. such a sick deck. for edh, I'm going to rebuild The Grixis Venereal Infection and focus on infect :)

fuck

grumbledore, 9 years ago

once again, i find myself wanting to play this deck. starting the rebuild process again lol. the board state is a mess though

No Tamiyo... ;(

TBGDrizzle, 9 years ago

I decided to take out my two copies of Tamiyo and put in Avacyn thanks to the suggestion of Noctem. Avacyn is just too good of a card with her versatility and abilities to just completely take control mid to late game.

Land Base

SavageBorn, 9 years ago

After several playtests, the best (imo) budget lands that don't destroy the tempo are... the checklands (Dragonskull Summit, etc.)! For budget reasons I opted for Llanowar Wastes over Woodland Cemetery. Should it become cheaper I will snag it!

7/27/16 Update!

McMayhem, 9 years ago

-1 Austere Command

+1 Wrath of God

I found that I was using Austere Command as a 6-mana Day of Judgment much more than I liked, and finding a foil was becoming next to impossible, so I just said "F it" and put Wrath of God in instead.

Prossh Returns from Retirement

jlawsonusmc, 9 years ago

So I haven't played my Prossh deck in a long time. It was too competitive for my play venues and play groups, so I switched to something a bit more casual. But recently some other players have been showing up with some degenerate decks and there is a need for Prossh to make a return and put those chumps back in their place. With this in mind, I am putting the deck back together and bringing Prossh out of retirement. This also presented a fantastic opportunity to update my old friend with some new cards. I did some extensive revisions of the deck and will begin tweaking this updated version as I playtest.

July 28 2016, Humans, period!

snotice, 9 years ago

I've decided to move towards a humans heavy deck to maximize the value of Champion of the Parish, Mayor of Avabruck  Flip, and Thalia's Lieutenant. Some major adjustments are:

Thraben Inspector: two key words: Human and Soldier. A 1/2 with an investigate token to boot! I'm liking this 1 drop.

Knight of the White Orchid: Ramp, a human and built in first strike. A playset is still in testing, but so far has been worthwhile.

Hanweir Garrison  Meld: It is risky running red, especially when this creature is the only focus of that color. Though, with Knight of the White Orchid and all 8 fetch lands able to target the Sacred Foundry. Moreover, it is a legal COCO target. We'll see how it works out.

Tell me what you think of the changes!

First Cuts

KarnAgGolem, 9 years ago

Upon first look, my deck of ages passed is very..... spread out. so I am cutting cards that I feel are not helping with the overall idea of the deck which is zombie horde good stuff. the following was removed to make space for better cards: -1 Burnished Hart -1 Chainer, Dementia Master (TOR) not a zombie, and more cmc than coffin queen. like this guy but he doesn't seem to help enough -1 Jet Medallion (C14) no need with better incoming rocks -1 Mind Stone (DDP) need the card draw but I think I have better options -1 Mulldrifter (C14) great card, but not sure this is the best option for card draw -1 Rune-Scarred Demon (M12) gunna miss this guy, but not a zombie and getting rid of mimic vat (for now) -1 Sword of Vengeance (M11) lackluster -1 Lashwrithe (C14) also lackluster with incoming land improvements -1 Mimic Vat (SOM) -1 Argentum Armor (SOM) not worth it, too high cmc

Picking Zombies

MrPhys, 9 years ago

In some causal testing, not having Relentless Dead was alright. Getting a Risen Executioner in the graveyard can then trigger Prized Amalgam. Even though it costs a cmc of 5. Gisa and Geralf might fix this deck up so that I can always trigger Prized Amalgam with more ease.

DopelessRomantic, 9 years ago

I made this change a while ago but just now actually made the deck edit here

-1 Island -1 Swamp

+2 Geier Reach Sanitarium

This gives me more draw and discard power for a hedron retrieval and placement.

DopelessRomantic, 9 years ago

i actually did this a while ago but forgot to edit the deck:

-1 Island -1 Swamp

+2 Geier Reach Sanitarium

Gives me a bit more draw and discard options for finding and then trashing a hedron.

Eldritch Moon Update.

brokenshakles, 9 years ago

Love the new Docent of Perfection, but it's not really properly "Modern Playable"... except in this deck, where it works out quite nicely to boost it's late game power. Went down a Spellskite, as while it is a great utility creature, I really don't want to draw more than one in a game in preference to drawing other things. This cleared out room to put in an additional Island, which the mana base sorely needed. Also went down one Familiars Ruse and Echoing Truth each, they are both great cards, but they are less useful than cantripping and the power cards. This cleared out enough room to put in 2 Docents, which rounds out the deck with a nice lord that's a decent topdeck. MUCH more consistent defensively. Edit: I'm experimenting swapping Serum Visions with Anticipate, since Instant speed is more important to the way the deck plays than low cost, as it's almost always better to have lands open with it.

Test 1

AcidBoonHead, 9 years ago

Vs. Elves, Burn and White Counters Coudn't really cast AND protect my combo due to lack of mana. Traded Disciple and Frost Titan for 2 more Bannerets. Everything turned out to be cheap play, including Sage's Dousing being 2 cheaper due to combo with Battlefield Thaumaturge. 22 Island seems to function well with the 2 extra Merfolk Wizards. Keeping 2x Jalira combined with 4x AEthermages to have 6 "Tutor" spells, for now... Not sure wether I really need Jalira. It might be better to Ponder or Preordain, especially with Wizardcycling not becoming cheaper. No use yet for Safe Haven. Might change them and 1 or 2 Islands to Exotic Orchard, as long as I stay within budget. Looking for suitable one-drops, preferably something that taps for a tap target (instead of changing color). This way I can defend better and might not need Fog Bank which has no synergy in this deck (apart from being a quite strong defender). Trying to make this deck suitable for 1v1 and mulitplayer, keeping Gambit for that purpose. Sideboarding Gridlock/Counterspells/Icy Blast to trade with Gambit. Found Sea King's Blessing, seems OP? On a side note: I realize that the combo is going to anticipate/generate a lot of hate anyway. I try to evade this, protect myself, not to "Nope" everyone in everything they do during the entire game.
