Playtest 1

TastyCheez, 6 years ago

Alright, I tested a game and this is how it went:

To basically summarise, I matched up against Black/Blue Mill. Glimpse the Unthinkable style of deck. I lost the first round to being completely outmatched in my main gameplan and him surgical extractioning away my elixir's, but i crushed him in the next two games with the Geist of Saint Traft I sideboarded in. I didn't need to Evolution into it because i had it naturally in my hand both games. Second game i tapped down his Jace's Phantasm's with my Retreat to Coralhelm triggers to my attacks could get in, and third game he couldnt stop me from elixiríng back 40 cards into my deck.

I never casted a scapeshift or managed to mill him out with a combo - but its good to know my deck can aggressively punish my opponent for not having suitable removal.

Deck Update

JSLardizabal, 6 years ago

The increased number of mana rocks in this deck compared to previous iterations means that I sometimes don't get four other lands to activate Temple of the False God. I decided to take it out.

some other changes

Cereal_Killer, 6 years ago

Removed: 1x Supreme Verdict (now 2), 1x Leyline of Sanctity (from side), 2x Glacial Fortress. Added: 1x Sphinx's Revelation, 1x Supreme Verdict (in side), 2x Field of Ruin.

"Here's Johnny! - The Shining"

drik2011, 6 years ago

Yes we're back with more "auto includes" and updates from the last expansions and previous commander set (mainly from Feline Ferocity the cats tribal/equipments). With less creatures, more ways to protect "Sram", equipment/artifact and equip cost reductions (Hammer of Nazhan), the deck is more focused with its "voltron" strategy. Oh! have I mentioned "The Shining"? No, the decks theme has nothing to do with 80s film. Lately I've been into shiny, premium or foil cards. Yes I'm planning on foiling all of my commander decks (except for basic lands and cards with no foil printings).

M19 and a few other mods

Barberini85, 6 years ago

Out Draconic Roar, flameshadow Conjuring, foul-tongue invocation, gaea's blessing, rugged Highlands, shivan oasis, stoneforge masterwork, Sarkhan's Rage and vorenclix, Voice of hunger. In Cultivate, Colossal Majesty, Frontier Siege, Lay of the Land, Rootbound Crag, Rampant Growth, Sarkhan Dragonsoul, Sarkhan Fireblood and Spire Garden. Found I was missing ramp plus need to look at truly getting the mana fix right.

Dominaria (DOM) Update

butokk, 6 years ago

Inclusions

In: Oath of Teferi Out: Part the Waterveil

Auto-include in this deck as it allows Planeswalker abilities to activate twice.

In: Thran Temporal Gateway Out: Call to Mind

Planeswalkers are legendaries. Just another way to get the Planeswalkers out onto the battlefield.

In: Urza's Ruinous Blast Out: Cataclysm *list*

This build is all about Legendaries so minimal downside boardwipe compared.

To Playtest (Possible Inclusions)

Mox Amber - could help to generate more colour mana but may be useless to begin with.

Honourable Mentions

Helm of the Host - this can potentially protect Narset but the equip cost is way too high.

Teferi, Hero of Dominaria - good card but the existing Teferi is better.

Karn, Scion of Urza - not as strong as the existing Karn and I am sticking with 1 Planeswalker per type rule for this deck.

Ixalan (XLN), Rivals of Ixalan (RIX) Updates

butokk, 6 years ago

Inclusions

In: Slaughter the Strong Out:

A board wipe that does not hurt you at all, so why not?

To Playtest (Possible Inclusions)

Honourable Mentions

Treasure Map  Flip - good that you can make Treasure tokens but the tranform side is not so useful in this deck because this deck does not have any other synergy with Treasure tokens.

Arch of Orazca - good for card advantage but probably not strong enough for this deck.

Thaumatic Compass  Flip - Narset is quite hard to cast, early game to grab lands and late game with an extra Maze of Ith could be useful

the way you win is almost always the same you find debt to the deathless and asnods altar and a creature that creates more creature when your creatures die. you sac all your creature exept for elenda and the creature to create more creatures and elenda huge then you sac elenda to creature more token which you sacrifice to create almost infinite mana and the nyou debt to the deathless

Major update

orzhov_moskalski, 6 years ago

I made a big update to this deck many cards are changed out

Amonkhet (AKH), Hour of Devastation (HOU) Updates

butokk, 6 years ago

Inclusions

In: Approach of the Second Sun Out:

This appears to be a fun card which creates an alternative win condition. With Omniscience in the deck, casting Approach of the Second Sun wouldn't be so bad.

In: Cast Out Out: Stasis Snare

Despite a higher mana cost, it targets a non-land permanent instead of a creature and it does not rely on 2 white mana. Also, this card can be cycled if needed.

To Playtest (Possible Inclusions)

Leave / Chance - could be useful against boardwipes and to protect Narset

Solemnity - Counters are quite common in EDH so this could be useful against those decks.

Honourable Mentions

Gideon of the Trials - nice abilities but only if playing a Gideon build.

Gideon's Intervention - this can really be annoying by naming your opponent's commander, but not sure if it suits this theme.

Irrigated Farmland - Nice lands, but probably not.

Oracle's Vault - interesting concept of playing around the top of library cards, but the activation and casting would be too high.

put some of side bored into deck

Zurax, 6 years ago

Added: Axis of Mortality, Temporal Extortion, erebos god of death, Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief. Take: Athreos, God of Passage, Phyrexian Reclamation, Phyrexian Unlife, Greater Auramancy.

Anguished Unmaking feature for The Vampire 911

Update 1

FutureWitness, 6 years ago

Cut unnecessary ramp (Cultivate, Kodama's Reach) since my average CMC is so low, added Utopia Sprawl and the Solemnity/Decree of silence combo. Might later add Phyrexian Unlife.

Massive Overhaul and Revised Strategy

CorvusVonWolff, 6 years ago

After doing some digging and playing around, I decided to lose the focus on Auras and focus more on raw synergy between my creatures. The Aura stuff didn't have enough room to take advantage of and the whole deck suffered for it, so I'm dropping stuff like Weight of Conscience, Tallowisp, and Steel of the Godhead in favor of more consistency. I'll probably revisit this in the future, but for now I think these changes really improve the deck.

2nd turn win!

Somdude, 6 years ago

Update: it is possible to cast Emrakul, the Promised End by your 2nd turn with this deck!

Complete?

RiskitBiskit, 6 years ago

I feel it's complete , but does anyone have suggestions?

Commander 2018 Update

Philoctetes, 6 years ago

Hey All!

So obviously, with Commander 2018 coming out with a Jund Lands deck, I think everyone who plays or follows this deck was excited and wondering what goodies we would get.

After much deliberation, I have added but one single card from Commander 2018 into my build. That card is the obvious Windgrace's Judgment, which is too absurd not to include. It comes in for poor Slimeball, a card which I love =( farewell sweet slimey.

Cards I considered

Turntimber Sower - ultimately this card is very versatile, as it is both a sac outlet, Recursion plan similar to Loam, and mini Titania, but he doesn't do any of those things particularly efficiently so he is out for now.

Nesting Dragon - powerful card, but is it better than Rampaging Baloths? And if yes, is it significantly enough better to replace clearly superior Omnath or (Insert Generic Win Con Here)? It does produce two tokens basically per land drop, but I think both Omnath is obviously superior and Bloodghast in a way does something similar with better Sek'Kuar synergy. Pass for now.

Lord Windgrace - I think that Lord Windgrace is his own Lands commander, and not a combo oriented version. He is closer to a value rock style deck that utilizes lands more effectively than most Jund builds. If I were to add a planeswalker to my deck Nissa, Vital Force is top top of the list, since if you survive one turn cycle you get a one sided Horn of Greed for the rest of the game. That feels stronger than the Kitty Cat.

All in all, I am both disappointed and happy that my deck largely remained intact, not obsolete, and a lot of my pet cards have been allowed to remain. It's been hard enough to find cuts n this deck as is!

Finalized Starting List

jl174, 6 years ago

Finalized starting list using EDHRec, magiccards.info, personal favorites. Attempts were made to balance ramp, stomp, flying slowdown, creature find, and general acceleration. Priority was given to "Dinosaur" creature type; Spellbreaker and Spearbreaker Behemoth, Mayael, Avenger of Zendikar, Bane of Progress were considered for the final 100, as well as a multitude of sweeps, spot removal spells, card finds, and accelerators. Multiple choices were made due to budget concerns, incl. no aura shards, no mirari's wake, no tooth and nail. Considerations for X spells still remain, e.g. additional earthquake effects, genesis wave Considerations for mana retention and flash remain; e.g. vedalken orrery, upwelling, etc. Spot removal will always be in a constant state of flux (e.g. path, swords, lightnign bolt, naturalize, etc.)

Siegehorn Ceratops feature for Gishanth

Alright, moved some stuff around, added a couple creatures, namely Ethercaste Knight b/c he got a big booty and that exalted trigger is too good. Added good ol GotG, to have something later game to dodge spells. I am not sure how I feel about it though... Still moving stuff around... Also, in an effort to cut cost, redid the brainstorm/ponders into Portent and Ponder. Small dip in efficiency, but I think upped consistency. Finally moved around the side board a little. More changes to come
