AechLP on Old School Mono Black - …

I absolutely love your "Old School Mono" decks. Hope you don't mind, I'm totally copying these to make so I can show my family how to play/learn Magic easily. I wanted to inquire if you had a good recommendation of a "Old School Artifact - Teaching" deck that would be the perfect matching power of your other teaching decks? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

DragonMaster420 Hey, so I assumed you might have just been messing with me but it occurs to me it's entirely possible you're just not aware of the deck, which is a-okay because imma explain it to ya haha so buckle up bucko!

So you're correct in what you said, if I were trying to cast those blue and black cards, which in most cases I never will be. Sneaky Snacker has a unique ability that allows me to return it to the field from the graveyard when I draw my 3 card in a turn. So the ideal conditions is to discard it with Grab the Prize dealing 2 damage to the opponent, drawing 2 cards and then getting Sneaky Snacker back onto the field in the same turn (this feels so good to do lol). There are quite a few ways to discard Sneaky Snacker in the deck like using the blood token from Voldaren Epicure or using the ability of Masked Meower.

This is because the goal is to get a Stinkweed Imp into the graveyard so we can begin dredging it and hopefully getting our combo into the graveyard. The combo in the deck, in addition to having some creatures in the graveyard, is to get Lotleth Giant and Dread Return into the yard, using the flashback ability of Dread Return to return Lotleth Giant to the field and with it's ability doing a ton of damage to the opponent! Yes, it is in fact awesome lol.

Now it's typical to include Conduit Pylons as a way to access other colors but also as another way to try and get more cards into the graveyard.

But yes that about sums it up I believe. I hope it makes sense!

If you have any questions about the deck or the Dredge archetype (in pauper) as a whole feel free to message me and I'll do my best to answer them.

I like this.

I'd suggest adding Spider-Ham, Peter Porker.

I just discovered The Pride of Hull Clade and put it in my Turtle-Zoo deck for Standard. (still building it)

The Soul Matrix

Legendary Artifact

You may have two commanders if one is The Soul Matrix. If you do, you can't cast your other commander, and The Soul Matrix's mana cost is equal to your other commander's mana cost.

At the beginning of combat on each players turn, that player creates a token that's a copy of your other commander, except it has haste. Exile that token at the beginning of the next end step.

Hi capwner thanks for the suggestions! I really like Mana Echoes specifically and think I’ll try to slot it in somewhere. Ulasht, the Hate Seed is a good recommendation but I’m weird about having creatures that don’t fit the tribal theme in my decks (by not being a fungus in this case) even though would be really good for it.

Don't worry about it. I used to have a Prime Speaker Zegana deck that did good work with Murkfiend Liege. (tl;dr: You summon Zegana and she gets +2/+2 from the Liege and enters with four +1/+1 counters, essentially letting you replenish your hand and have a vanilla 7/7 to boot.)

Coolest use of Morophon I've seen in a while, a 5c fungus deck to utilize all the weird niche payoffs is awesome. I could see Ulasht, the Hate Seed working in here somehow, he(it?) fuels a lot of combos especially with stuff like Utopia Mycon, Ashnod's Altar, or Mana Echoes which I think would all be good in here on their own. Though I understand Mana Echoes has become pretty expensive. +1!

I feel like you could lean in harder to the 'tap my creatures and do stuff" effects if you wanted to?

Maybe some more protection too like Ghostly Prison or Norn's Annex?

If you decided to go with more legendary creatures Relic of Legends could be funny as it would simultaneously ramp and allow you to keep most things tapped!

in modern, 6 mana is too expensive for a card that doesn't win you the game on the spot. the best removal in these colors is gonna be Lightning Bolt, Fatal Push, and Terminate. modern is too brutal a format to have a final fantasy theme just for the sake of it.

you'll want good removal like Abrupt Decay or Assassin's Trophy. probably trade the swindler for Badgermole Cub. marsh, glade, and wastes can be traded for basic lands. they'll etb tapped at inopportune times and the life loss isn't worth it.

Can we add JR to the country code list (along with EN, FR, IT, CN, PR, GE, SP, RS, KO, and JP) and show the Jolly Roger flag next to card names?

I'm dipping my toes into cEDH (where proxies are allowed and even encouraged for many events), and I'd like an easy way to show my proxies vs my real cards. Sure, I can just use the signed tag or an existing country flag, but Mox Diamond‍☠️ is just so much more fun than Mox Diamondsigned or Mox DiamondZH :-)

Cheers!

I have a fun Dragon's Approach deck with Judith at the helm, and it's a fun, low powered deck. Been eyeing the Slime for a while for a similar deck, but haven't found any commanders that feel right. This is a natural fit, and seems like an excellent answer to always getting the most out of your slime spells.

Saoirse, the Forbidden Henge

Legendary Enchantment

Saoirse, the Forbidden Henge can be your commander.

Ward - Sacrifice an Enchantment.

You may pay . If you do, Saorise, the Forbidden Henge becomes a copy of any creature you control, except it and the creature you copy become enchantments in addition to their other types.

As long as you control 5 or more enchantments, enchantment creatures and enchanted creatures you control gain flying, trample and +X +X where X is the number of enchantments you control, rounded down.

"Saorise came into being through sheer will, and began to offer the same to others. In fear people dismantled the Henge and separated the stones, but she always reappeared elsewhere."

This was a fun challenge, thank you! Repeat or wild

I love the selesnyan building tree elementals so I imagine Saorise in a similar style but with more rounded Celtic/Lorwyn type stones and odd things flitting between them holding her together. The ward is probably overpowered but the flavor felt fun. Wish we had a fun bant enchantment commander.

Daras, the Self-Made

Legendary Artifact Creature - Wizard

Defender

Ward - Discard a card.

Whenever a creature you don't control leaves the battlefield, put a charge counter on Daras, the Self-Made.

At the beginning of your combat step, choose one:

  • Daras deals damage to each opponent equal to half the number of charge counters on it, rounded up.

  • Each opponent mills cards equal to the number of charge counters on Daras.

5/5

I'm aiming for a conflict of ideology within a color set instead of opposing colors.

Create either a card that continues this story of Fervis and Daras, or a non-creature non-planeswalker that can be a commander.

Nice Timmy deck!

Extraplanar Lens Vernal Bloom Gauntlet of Power are cheap mana doublers that benefit from forests. Snow-Covered Forests make Extraplanar Lens 1 sided.

Caged Sun Mana Reflection Zendikar Resurgent Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger are higher cost doublers with additional effects.

Nyxbloom Ancient is a tripler.

Seedborn Muse Nature's Will Sword of Feast and Famine Bear Umbra Wilderness Reclamation untap all lands/ permanents for double mana and vigilance.

I'm surprised none of these are in here for big mana boosts.

Throne of Eldraine is mana and draw on a rock.

You can play online for free with Cockatrice, a stand alone client, or on a browser at Untap.in. I prefer Cockatrice because it rarely has lag. I used to play on Untap.in but it could get really laggy, which made it a lot less fun. But that was quite a few years ago now, so maybe Untap.in has gotten better since then? Anyway, nice deck :)

I do think you should include 2x more lands, and one of them should be Castle Locthwain

Fervis, Flesh Melder

Legendary Creature - Mutant 1/4

Creature cards in your hand have mutate. Their mutate cost is equal to their mana cost.

, Target human loses all creature types. Put a mutate counter on it. This ability costs more to activate if it targets a human you don't control. (A creature with a mutate counter on it has the creature type mutant)

, Gain control of target mutant. Untap it. It gains haste until end of turn.

Lets see a creature that would oppose this one next

SaberTech on How Did Dragonstorm Not Fit …

9 mana is a lot to spend just to tutor out a single dragon. If you aren't ramping with ritual effects and mana-positive mana rocks to cast Dragonstorm then it would take a long time to be able to cast it and the storm effect isn't likely to trigger. Without those ways to ramp on the same turn that you cast it the card slot is far better off just being another 5 or 6 mana dragon that you can cast earlier in the game. With all the dragons available in the set, chances are that you could close out the game before reaching 9 mana.

Besides, the set gave us the much more competitive Dragonback Assault as a way to spam dragons onto the board. If you want to get fancy with your deck building, there's also Breaching Dragonstorm as a nod to the original Dragonstorm that you can play around with.

Interesting take on broodscale, any reason for omitting Blade of the Bloodchief? Card is pretty cheap and wombo combos big time with broodscale...you probably already know that since it's the main archetype of the deck :P But if you were just trying to do something off-beat that is cool.

Sisay was my first EDH deck as well and I still find her to be super powerful. Your build looks quite different from mine but still seems very strong! Yours looks more midrangey with a lot of removal and different finishing combos. Have you considered including the combo of Ashaya, Soul of the Wild+Quirion Ranger? That is one of the most efficient finishers for Sisay I think since it uses untappers like Quirion Ranger which are already good with her by themselves. I also like the classic Living Plane+Norn/Linvala lock. I'll link my version if you want to check it out! (CEDH) Sisay It Ain't So *REDUX*
