Hey, another recommendation I just realized as I was reading the card: Sylvan Library. The effect is worded, "choose two cards in your hand drawn this turn." That means effects that draw you extra cards on draw step, like from Kami of the Crescent Moon, would feed into that pool, effectively expanding your selection of cards to put back on your topdeck. In the Kami example, instead of putting 2 of 3 cards on your topdeck, you're choosing 2 of 4. It's an interesting synergy that adds more asymmetry to the Group Hug effects, besides Sylvan Library being a fantastic way to generate card advantage.

From the Gatherer Rulings:

12/8/2022	If you control other triggered abilities that allow you to draw cards during your draw step, you can choose to order Sylvan Library's ability before or after those abilities. Triggered abilities controlled by other players will resolve before triggered abilities you control.

Have you thought about running Howling Golem? I run it in my group hug deck and usually there's one or 2 players that will swing in with a 1/3 or 2/3 for more card draw or someone that will take 2 damage for more cards. There's also Kami of the Crescent Moon if you want more symmetrical draw

Animar Horde 4

Commander / EDH leon_bulminot

46 VIEWS | IN 1 FOLDER

So this is the...4th or 5th or 100th iteration? I'm honestly not sure. But 4th decklist I put up.

So!!! Main goal of this deck is interaction. My interaction with the opponents is smacking you with Animar. My counterspells are reducing life to 0. My ramping is how many +1 counters can I stack on Animar before my hand runs out.

Jokes aside, the philosophy of this deck is "I'm playing Magic. You're playing Magic. I don't care what you do. I'm playing Magic on my turn. Because my turn is my turn, no matter what you play."

Obviously that has some downsides to interaction with the board. The upside is that it definitely lessens a focus on worrying about what your opponents will counter and more about who looks like they're bleeding the most, and how to get more.

Trying to focus a bit more on creatures doimg things, which is why if a creature could do it, I replaced artifacts and sorceries and instants with Creatures.

Kami of the Crescent Moon replaced Howling Mine. Mana equivalent or less is what I tried to go for. Hence why no Gaea's Cradle. I am pondering The Great Henge but I'm not sure how I'd manage it for now.

Hey, Oakiegg. Thanks for the suggestions.

First of all, I have found this deck to be much less helpless than I previously suspected based on its predecessor Any Color You Like. This was a suprise, but a welcomed one. I think the trick to not being as helpless during early to midgame is the addition of cards such as the pillowfort pieces and small blockers (cmc < 5).

I have looked at Folio of Fancies before, but not Minds Aglow. However, none of them immediately strikes me as perfect fits for this deck.

Minds Aglow is a sorcery speed draw card that lets everyone draw. I prefer to draw on instant speed, since I can then keep mana up for interaction cards (such as counterspells) untill the end of the round before my turn again. I think this looks cool, but I prefer not to tap out on my own turn, and my oponents probably dont want to invest alot either since they already get extra draws from Kami of the Crescent Moon etc.

Folio of Fancies is therefore a better fit IMO, since it can draw me cards instant speed. However, all players gaining no max handsize is a drawback, since I do usually want my opponents to discard down to seven cards to keep some advantage. But more importantly, it just a tad bit too expensive investment for 2 mana to draw 1, or 4 mana to draw 2. Atleast with cards like Behold the Multiverse (which also costs 4) there are upsides like scry 2. Still, this is a card I might playtest in the future.

Thanks again for the suggestions, I really apreciate it :)

legendofa on BBEG Deck Ideas

For my breakdown here, I'm focusing on characters who are villains in their story arc and characters who don't have much specific backstory. Pretty much any legendary creature can be flavored as a villain in front of the right deck. I'm also not focusing on the Forgotten Realms sets, I'm broadening the net.

What's available:

: Eldrazi or artifacts. Most of the artifacts are either hero-aligned or not an independent threat, like Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut. If you want a challenge, Omarthis, Ghostfire Initiate, but I wouldn't, just for lack of depth.

: Villains are oddly centered on Old Kamigawa. Konda, Lord of Eiganjo is a near-immortal emperor and master duelist. Hokori, Dust Drinker is destroying resources and the land. And, of course, there's the apocalyptic, unrelenting evil that is Hazduhr the Abbot.

: Heidar, Rimewind Master is an elementalist fanatic. The manipulations of Orvar, the All-Form or Kami of the Crescent Moon could cause problems, as could a big sea creature like Tromokratis or Charix, the Raging Isle.

: Pretty much everyone. It's easier to count the people who aren't outright villains.

: Relatively few actual villains, but a bunch of manipulators, dragons, and angry people that could fill the role.

: A bunch of wild animals and nature types. No scheming villains, but a good selection of rampaging monsters. Meng Huo, Barbarian King would be a unique choice (if you're willing to.proxy or drop $150+).

: Polukranos Reborn  Flip is the most (only?) villainous character in these colors.

: Lots of options, from the behind-the-scenes manipulation of Lazav, Dimir Mastermind to the illithid Captain N'ghathrod, Gisa and Geralf's necromancer army, whatever Umbris, Fear Manifest is, and a lot more.

: A few options, but lots of depth in them. Insane biologist Momir Vig, Simic Visionary and his magnum opus Experiment Kraj, nature's avenger Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath, or maybe Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait is flooding the area.

: A very deep and wide pool for villains. Vampires, demons, dragons, demon dragons, warlords, torturers...

: Grakmaw, Skyclave Ravager joins the ranks of the big scary monsters. A more calculating BBEG would probably be one of the death lords like Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. Vhati il-Dal or Old Rutstein or probably more storyline villains than BBEG material.

: A very shallow pool. Storvald, Frost Giant Jarl, Rubinia Soulsinger, and maybe Falco Spara, Pactweaver or Katilda and Lier (mostly because of Lier) are the best options for an Archenemy villain. I'd throw Kros, Defense Contractor in, but goading is kind of limited when you're the Archenemy.

: This color set will probably be either a cold, distant, merciless villain or a manipulative puppet master. Raffine, Scheming Seer and Oloro, Ageless Ascetic fall into the first category, and Sen Triplets and The Ever-Changing 'Dane in the second. Varina, Lich Queen is another option for a zombie army.

: Big, angry, and violent, with some good dragons. Xira, the Golden Sting and Vazi, Keen Negotiator break out of this mold, but they strike me as more lieutenant-types, not arc villains by themselves.

: Not much; these tend to be either heroic or big smashy monsters. Uril, the Miststalker could work.

: Queen Marchesa is a classic, as you mentioned, and Edgar Markov is right there, too. Actually, this color set has some good depth and variety for an Archenemy. Some are more overtly villainous, and some are just very martial. My top picks would be Edgar, Licia, Sanguine Tribune, or Tariel, Reckoner of Souls.

: Mostly either weird esotericism or "nature's avenger" types. I don't think any of these are outright villainous in-story, but most of them have loose or vague stories. With the right deck, this could be a unique and interesting villain. Riku of Two Reflections is my top pick.

Four-color sets in general: Any of them would work, except for a couple of the .

: Use this color set if you want a truly apocalyptic feel. saluma mentioned Tiamat, which is a very good choice, and finding a way to get through Progenitus or O-Kagachi, Vengeful Kami is a story of epic scale.

Oakiegg on The Wheel // Nekusar, the Mindrazer

FormOverFunction thanks for the spotlight, it does seem like it'd be a fun include! I'm thinking of building a second Nekusar deck that is toned down in power to be able to play my favorite Grixis Lich a bit more often. My good friend and I have established quite the arms race with each other with our favorite commanders,--his being this Teysa Aristocrats deck if you were curious!--and it's certainly led to a very different playstyle than I started with.

Once upon a time, this deck was fueled by Howling Mine and Kami of the Crescent Moon, and other fun effects with few to no wheels at all... My how times change. I do hope to never include Infect in the deck, and we have a pretty good ban on that ability in general in my meta/pod which I'm quite happy about hahaha. Regardless, thank you for the recommendation again, I think I can certainly find a place for it in a future Nekusar build or my Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor deck I'm working on currently.

Ad Nauseam would be a good one

Paradox Haze will give you 4 draws when paired with Kami of the Crescent Moon

Fate Unraveler and Font of Mythos let’s you benefit from giving other players additional upkeeps

Rhox Faithmender groups well with Children of Korlis and Ad Nauseam

Crawlspace would be good to slow down incoming attacks on top of Propaganda and Ghostly Prison

Using Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose you could double up damage, paired with Rhox Faithmender and Children of Korlis that could be game.

Just some suggestions! Started building mine today and figured I’d check out what other people were building with Queza.
