Okay gents, it's been a while, and with the release and depreciation of Shadows Over Innistrad, I can now start looking up options for this deck again.
Unfortunately, I've traded off my Mutavaults and Cavern of Souls' since, much to my regret. BUT now I can focus on the creature base, adding in more 1-drops like Village Messenger
and potentially more anthems like Howlpack Resurgence. Additionally, with the rules change to Double-faced cards, my flipped werewolves are free from a Ratchet Bomb or an Engineered Explosives set on zero, so that's a nice little victory. And the icing on the cake is the reprint and legality of Wooded Foothills, which I previously did not have access to.
After goldfishing, I am aiming (hahahahahaha) to replace the Rootbound Crags with Cavern of Souls, once my granny dies or something so that I can afford it.
Sideboard talk:
2x Blood Moon for Tron/greedy manabases.
2x Chameleon Colossus for Grixis, Jund, and removal-heavy decks.
2x Destructive Revelry for Affinity.
1x Pyrewild Shaman to experiment with the Bloodrush ability.
1x Relic of Progenitus for graveyard decks.
2x Moonmist for aggressive creature-based decks, maybe even Affinity.
1x Shatterstorm for Affinity.
2x
Spirit of the Hunt
for Pyroclasm/
Infest
decks.
2x
Witchstalker
for the more instant-speed controll-y decks.
Currently I'm looking to have a more creature-based sideboard, to accommodate those games where I'm on the draw, and my
Reckless Waif
s are less likely to be of use. Village Messenger
at least has haste, which can come in for 2-3 after Turn 3, and
Wolfbitten Captive
is better than Reckless Waif on every turn except the first.
ATM, my local meta is Bant Eldrazi, U/W Emeria, Affinity/Living End, U Merflok, Grixis Delver, janky amateur Infect, and sometimes R goblins, R/G Tron, G/B Elves.
