FolkenFanel: It really depends on your meta. Mine can be very aggro oriented which is why I have cloudblazer in to cushion it for the longer game. In general, Mulldrifter is better purely because of it's early game turn 3 evoke potential.

First of all, thank you for your Primer, it’s been a great help! Very inspirational piece of deck tech!

I’ve recreated most of the deck with some minor changes.

I’ve cut out Utter End in favour of Sorin, Grim Nemesis as a redundant effect in Aminatou + Kaya + Guardian + Panharmonicon/Oath of Teferi combo. He also provides extra draws, something the deck struggles with, in my opinion.

I reduced Islands to three, adding Halimar Depths. Having hardly any Turn 1 plays, I think it’s worth keeping a slightly riskier hand and re-arranging the top to hit the missing land. If you have a fetchland in hand, you can t2 reshuffle easily. I also found it helpful when I was running out of gas.

I decided to include Eldrazi Displacer instead of Ixidron, so also had to tweak manabase a bit. Swapping Concealed Courtyard and Darkslick Shores for Caves of Koilos and Underground River respectively brought the deck to a satisfying number of colourless sources. Displacer does not disappoint! I was able to pull of Felidar Guardian + Gonti, Lord of Luxury tonight, without Aminatou, the Fateshifter and Panharmonicon or Oath of Teferi. Instead, I had a Peregrine Drake and five lands, including Winding Canyons and Reliquary Tower. Took a while to explain to the table it’s a win lol!

I do not own an Imperial Seal so decided to go more flickery way and added Brago, King Eternal. The deck isn’t that much value oriented though, so I will probably add Rune-Scarred Demon instead as I found myself struggling to find answers at times.

Also swapped Angel of Despair for a cheaper disruption creature – Reflector Mage. More likely to get cast with Winding Canyons. I know it only hits creatures, but I didn’t find myself in the need to heavily disrupt non-creature strategies just yet.

Perplexing Chimera is still on my list. I like how you can get it back with Aminatou’s -1, but opponents will slow roll their spells in order to get rid of it or will simply wipe the board. Considering putting Draining Whelk as it’s a more reactive disruption that I can later flicker with Eldrazi Displacer or bounce back with Venser.

Insidious Dreams is proving to be disappointing as oftentimes I don’t have enough acceptable cards to pitch to it. Might go with Personal Tutor or Mystical Teachings instead. The first one if I can afford to slow roll Entreat the Dead or can use Aminatou’s +1 to put Time Warp in my hand, provided Archaeomancer or Salvager of Secrets is on the field already. The second can be good to fetch Venser, Shaper Savant, a counterspell or any other instant tutor effect. Flashback can prove useful too.

Thanks for sharing your deck with us, hopefully you’ll find my playtesting experience useful, too!

gonz0pl: Hi, thanks for your playtesting experience and you've basically convinced me to try Eldrazi Displacer out. I agree with you on your analysis on Insidious Dreams and Perplexing Chimera. I will be testing displacer out and post my experience after I get to playtest it this weekend at my LGS.

Cheers!

It seems in the section She Controls your Fate\Synergistic Combos that you have written you can use her -1 every turn. What is it you mean exactly, because my first impression is that you are saying we can use her abilities during other peoples turns, which is not the case :)

Odysseus_97: That is true, you can activate her -1 ability every turn with Oath of Teferi since you can activate her abilities twice. You -1 her first and then +1 on the same turn essentially.

What do you think would be the best infinite mana sink to test in this list, given that Displacer + Drake is also an infinite mana combo?

August 16, 2018 12:59 p.m.

Enral says... #7

NeonEndymion: The purpose of the infinite mana is to sink them into Eldrazi Displacer/Deadeye Navigator/Ghostly Flicker+Archaeomancer to enable infinite flicker. With infinite flicker, we can draw out our deck with Cloudblazer to get to the win cons like exiling everyone's deck with Gonti, Lord of Luxury etc. But if you want like an actual mana sink, you could play Entreat the Angels for infinite angels or Torment of Hailfire.

I like this Entreat the Angels idea, as it plays up the miracles splash/subtheme. I haven't tested as extensively as you have yet, but it seems a bit easier to tutor for/assemble the infinite mana combos (2 sets of 2 cards) than the infinite mana combos + the infinite flicker combos?

That might be a meta call, though, as people can get real salty if you're combo'ing off infinitely every other game or so.

NeonEndymion: If you want an alternative wincon for more casual pods, try Magister Sphinx. I've won several games just by flickering it and beating face over several turns.

Definitely going to be trying that out tonight/this weekend. Should have some testing reports from a few pods by Sunday.

More testing done tonight.

New favourite unfair interaction: Aminatou, the Fateshifter on 1 loyalty using -1 ability to flicker a (basic or not) Plains with Emeria Shepherd on the field only to let Aminatou go to the yard and bring her back on 3. I loved every single spiteful gaze my opponents gave me, lol!

Swapped a few things around: Mana Vault in, Mana Crypt out. Really happy with the result of this swap. Helps me progress the board much faster, especially after flickering it for extra 3 mana. The 1 life loss is much more manageable than 3, in my opinion. No Thran Dynamo as of yet, but I'm considering it or Basalt Monolith though.

Can't express how good both Draining Whelk and Mystical Teachings are. The first one is simply unexpected and helped me get around an Akroma's Vengeance and was quickly followed by a tutor for Eldrazi Displacer to deflect further disruption. The spell has proven its worth vs. Cat Tribal Voltron getting Venser, Shaper Savant to bounce a well-equipped Nazahn to hand. Having it as the only card in my hand, at the end of my opponent's turn and chaining it into Entreat the Dead via Mystical Tutor to rebuild my board in my upkeep was sweet, too.

Unlike you, I have less colourless land sources and it wasn't enough to succesfully chain Peregrine Drake and another creature for flicker shenanigans with Eldrazi Displacer, so I removed the Halimar Depths I was playing, and added Adarkar Wastes.

Currently tinkering with Personal Tutor and Rune-Scarred Demon as even with Sorin, Grim Nemesis who keeps proving himself fantastic, I don't think I have enough draw/tutor power.

I've been building a deck similar to this one, but a little bit more budget friendly (Only about $435). It's still got all the same important combos and runs smoothly more often than not, but like all things it can still be improved. do you have any suggestions? Aminatou, the Fateflickerer

NeonEndymion: Sounds good...hopefully you'll get some good results from testing.

gonz0pl: Interesting idea about mana vault/monolith...the only caveat is that you'll be using Aminatou's -1 ability on them instead of another potential ETB permanent often. I'm still not sure about Draining Whelk as holding up 6 mana is not ideal for me, I guess I'll have to sleeve it up to test it myself. I might have to add my Mystical Tutor back since it works so well with entreat the dead and terminus. Thanks for the report writeup!

Sh1ftyL0ck3 You deck looks pretty good overall. My only suggestion is to cut some of your sorcery removals like Vindicate. I think Mortify can be cut too. This is because you already have removal on a stick like Ravenous Chupacabra. You should add Ghostly Flicker since it works so well with Archaeomancer.

How do you feel about Rune-Scarred Demon, a tutor as an ETB seems quite good in this deck? :)

DAabean says... #15

No Palinchron? It combos with Panharmonicon for infinite mana as well as Deadeye Navigator and Eldrazi Displacer.

DAabean: Oh my god, how did I not see that, I just took a part my animar deck, so I have one to put right in there :) The same is true for Great Whale

August 21, 2018 6:04 a.m.

Enral says... #17

Odysseus_97: I like the idea of Rune-Scarred Demon but at 7 mana, he's a really steep investment for a possible repeatable tutor effect. I might have to test him out though since with the number of ramp I run I might be able to get him out early to dominate the game.

DAabean: Good call on Palinchron...he's probably gonna find a spot in my deck if I decided to ramp up my combo consistency at my LGS.

I played some games recently and feel like Whip of Erebos should be included as a consideration. Being able to bring a Massacre Worm back from the yard after dropping an Ixidron won a game pretty handily.
