Sideboard

Sorcery (4)

Artifact (4)

Maybeboard

Mono-red legacy burn deck.

Hits hard and has seen constant evolution since 1997. Affordable as well.

It's consistent and easy to play. I like to think of it as an auto-pilot deck.

It's also not fond of the creatures like Grim Lavamancer, Figure of Destiny, Goblin Guide, Eidolon, Monastery Swiftspear , and etc. that everyone seems to run.

This is dirt cheap and has taken out decks that cost thousands at my local.

The strategy is simple, burn baby burn.

It has seen some cards played like Ball Lightning, Game of Chaos, Overmaster, Fork, Lava Dart, Needle Drop, Shard Volley, and so forth over the years but the listed cards on mainboard are most consistent from experience. While selection can be mood dependent and whatever catches my eye as the years go by, I've played mostly with the aforementioned cards. I do change time to time the sorceries and instants depending on circumstances so I've also listed the selection pool in the maybeboard, which you may use for your reference in deck building.

Last but not the least, 1 Mana Clash is non-negotiable. It's my personal favorite card that embodies my philosophy and play style preference. I strongly believe that an element of spontaneity and luck is a factor in any game of MTG.

Notes:

  • I had to update sideboard. Mindbreak Trap has become necessary vs.combo decks as of recent...
  • Some players are not fond of Browbeat & Vexing Devil in their decks due to the choices it gives opponents. They don't play mono red burn enough is all I can say.
  • I don't like creatures too much. Vexing Devil just happens to be a cost efficient choice that can deal 4.
  • Valakut, while it slows down the deck, becomes quite useful vs control match ups. I've had to play numerous decks running Chalice of the Void so the landfall like effect is a fallback as a bolt alt from left field.
  • Yes, the deck has clear weaknesses and bad match ups, but more often than not, most games, they have to play against the tempo and pace this deck sets regardless.
