Ode to Monkey Island (1.0) is another deck designed to work with in my Ode to Video Game series of decks. I got into building these decks based on the video games that I played with my kids. It was a way of getting them into Magic and offered some fun and interesting ways to build decks. Ode to Monkey Island is pirate/sea/treasure themed deck that leverages tokens to do some fun things. Keep in mind these decks are not tuned to be over powered with a focus more on flavor. But, the do contain combos that allow them to compete with other decks in the series. The Break Down:

• Animar, Soul of the elements represents the spirit of the island
• Jacob Hauken, Inspector is Guybrush Threepwood (I really like the mechanical flavor of finding items and storing them for later use to solve a future problem)
• Jolene the plunder queen fit the role of Elaine Marley in the deck really well
• Magnus the Red serves the role of LeChuck (although I did at one point think of using Ezuri, Claw of progress)
• The Three Pirate Lords for the deck are represented by: Magda, Brazen Outlaw, Captain Lannery Storm, and Zara, Renegade Recruiter
• And to have a monkey represented I choose to use Kibo, Uktabi Prince (I have access to Ragavan but thought Kibo fit the flavor better)

The deck also contains items that can be found (tried to relate them to the game as best I could): Bootleggers' Stash, Ancestral Statue, Idol of Oblivion, Glasses of Urza, Key to the City, Star Compass, Explorer's Scope, Expedition Map, Tamiyo's Journal, Campfire, Jinxed Idol, Fifty feet of rope, Treasure Chest, and Treasure Map.
