GW Emeria Wolf Run

Maybeboard

Testing a GW Emeria that makes use of Wolf run.

Edit #1: Added 1 Uktabi Drake to the mainboard so Emeria + Kessig has the potential to swing immediately once online. Edit #1B: Removed drake in favour of a Renegade Rallier, I may add a drake, or another haste creature from the maybe board (geist) to the SB.

Edit #2: Changed Gideon to Gideon of the Trials for his emblem Ability since Sun Titan can keep bringing him back into play.

Edit #3: Added a main deck Qasali Pridemage to accompany the 4 SB Reclaimation sages. The one pridemage doesn't trigger upon hitting the battle field, so it won't be a good target for flickerwhisp but it also leaves it at instant speed for Emeria to fetch it preemptively so they have to deal with it before playing their enchantment/artifact threat/disruption. Also, it can be brought onto the battlefield with an Emeria or Sun titan Trigger, and be sacrificed before the next trigger resolves to hit multiple targets if needed. Edit #3B: Also added children of Kolois to the SB for a similar reason. once you have the Emeria engine or a Sun titan attacking each turn, you can survive incredibly well by sacrificing them - esepcailly with 2 in play.

Edit #4: Removed 1 Sun Titan for 1 Primeval titan. Although ST is part of the engine normally, and still is, Emeria does what it does, and while fetching one with Emeria is part of the whole point, with this Wolf Run version I decided fetchinh out a primeval would also be potent. Now I'm considering a manland - any suggestions on how to not loose any more Plains/forests but add a manland?

Edit #5: SB changed considerably. Edit #5b: SB changed again slightly (up to 3 Ratchet Bombs)

Edit #6: Finally able to test this at an event, no great record but I was satisfied, and gained some insight into what might change in the deck. I am considering removing the one of field hunter for yet another rallier. I'm also reconsidering the 1 main deck Uktabi Drake as haste would have won me a round, mind you, I would have had to have that 1 of drake in the yard, and may not have drawn it as a 1 of anyway. Also considering Nissa Vastwood Seer from the maybe board in for Gideon. He played fine for a usually lackluster walker, and he certainly had to be dealt with, particularly when Sun titan was out there, but Nissa's planeswalker side is a far bigger threat and getting land onto the battlefield, even in the late game (thank you rallier and sun titan) isn't an issue. Currently testing those changes in this version. Edit #6b: Nissa seems legit! (Emeria gets her back by itself where it can't touch walkers normally and I had to rely on Titan), coupled with Courser looking at the top card even synergizes with her +1 as you can decide when on your turn to play it - shuffle first or not sort of thing. Lots of synergy. Me likey.

Edit #7: Children of Korlis removed from SB. I still like them as unexpected and pests to cycle, but Kor Firewalker is better against Storm, and the more help we can get against combo decks the better. Between these guys and Spheres Storm gets stomped.

SB Notes:

1x Bojuka Bog - With 2 Primeval Titans, and ways to pull it from the yard, and the fact it targets only you opponents yard make sit ideal for GY disruption with this deck. (Recommended by OOBS) Considering pulling the other ooze for another bog, but 1 might be good enough. (Don't pull a land for this, unless it's Emeria itself or even the Wolf Run, otherwise your mana base is too fragile)

2x Kor Firewalker - obviously good against RDW and any other red based agro, including jund. They also happen to smash storm decks. (Cut maybe a Primeval titan or 2 and/or a Simulacrum or the perhaps the pridemate if they are low on artifacts/enchantments, keeping in mind some will almost _assuredly _ be sided in)

3x Damping Sphere - Storm hate! Tron hate! (and titan Amulet hate, for what that's worth). This thing does so much it allows more spots on a SB to deal with other threats. (Wrath isn't very strong here so it can likely be cut, if you want to keep it for whatever reason some combination of Solemn and wall of omens is likely the best choice)

1x Ghost Quarter - More tron hate! Or valakut hate or colonnade hate. having 2 of these with 2 primeval titans and all the potential for recursion of land should make the engine strong enough to shut down those decks. (See Bog comments! No plains/forest cutting!)

2x Ratchet Bomb - Not sure about this one, but it's been great for me against decks aggressive decks with evasion not to mention Lantern Combo. Pulling it out of the yard with Sun Titan and putting it in the yard popping it for 0 over and over as you see fit means Affinity has real issues. (Given you need an early game most times you'd use this card, it likely needs to replace a primeval titan, and perhaps 1-2 flickerwhisp, or 1-2 simulacrum)

4x Reclamation Sage - More issues for affinity, but also tron, and lantern, and in particular that pesky Bogles deck, if playing a few of these can help you last long enough to get Qasali Pridemate cycling, you're good against that deck also. Remember, as I mentioned already, in many cases Enchantments and Artifacts will come in against us from their SB, so you may be safe to sideboard in 1 of these guys just about every game 2, or more if you know your opponents archetype enough to also know his/her SB (Depends on what you're playing against. You need an early game against bogles and affinity so keep those walls! Solemns or 1-2 Primeval(s) can also come out against those decks. a WoG or two against Tron can come out but so could the walls. Remember if you are putting in Ratchet bombs also dont cut the flickerwhisps for it as I give as an option above since you want them with the sage!)

1x Scavenging Ooze - More Yard hate to accompany the bog but be an actual threat as well. (not hard to SB this as a 1 of, again Solemn might be the best option)

1x Uktabi Drake - To be used in situations where they can stall somehow. For example if they have a way of recurring ensnaring bridge, you can remove it and immediatley swing, along with kessig, this is a reasonable strategy from out of the yard with Sun Titan, Reclimation Sage, or Emeria. It was maindecked, but a bad draw in a lot of match ups. Usually when you recure so much with your engine at least something will be live through your next untap/upkeep and in then kessig makes that a good enough threat, in games where that is an issue for whatever reason, this will be an unexpected win con. (same as scavaging ooze for sideboarding)

NOTE: Though Solemn Simulacrum appears under most SB cards as a "cut" it remains to be an ideal card for the deck. particularly in game 1 when you don't know what you're playing against - it does everything you want it to do.

Open to suggests regarding mana base.

Considering Fauna Shaman and maybe a Lone Missionary etc to make the deck a little more "toolBox" like. I'm not sure. Please have a look through the Maybe board and let me know what you think should be maindecked or sideboarded. Note that though they all say "one of" that doesn't mean there shouldn't be more than one used if we were to add any of them to the MD or the SB.
