Zur’s Induced Insomnia

Modern Control Discard Mill WUB (Esper)

My approach is to attempt to control the board state early with early syncopate while whittling away their graveyard and deck with a relic, Ego, and ashiok in preparation for shuffling with memory or Emergency powers “restarting” the game for you and leaving your opponent with a fraction of their starting deck ——that they can never see again— hopefully with Smothering Tithe out to begin the flicker train so they can forget they were even playing magic because their whole deck is under my cards.

The flicker train you ask? Well, it starts with getting one or more Induced Amnesia on the field, then using Detention Sphere to pick them all up. After that, dropping Oblivion ring to swoop the sphere that drops the amnesia and so forth etc. to keep the fun going.

Since Induced Amnesia isn’t going to the Graveyard the opponent won’t get the cards In Hand and are permanently exiled.

Oath of Teferi is a late addition. I feel like that flicker ability serves use, and multi ticking the walkers a turn can generate so much value. 6 cards exiled with Ashiok and two flickers with venser makes me real happy.

The Commit side and Venser Shapers Savant can work as proactive removal when the pieces aren’t in place but can also be used to pick up and drop Amnesia. Venser the Soujoner flickers and gives Zur a clean way through. Zur, of course, can pull the necessary pieces directly from the deck to the field.

Master of feast works as a tutorable flying beater that can synergies with Smothering Tithe.

Search for Azcanta as a tutorable way of getting card selection.

Blue Sun’s Zenith and Grinding Station can be used with all the treasure to finish out the mill game. Revel in Riches as a one off win con.

And the sideboard gives an option to drop the mill game and go beat down with Feasts and Zur with support from always watching and Sun Titan (who I’m contemplating having in the main) and also Brain Maggot for against more control match ups
