Just a thought, if you plan on having a lot of interaction with counters and tokens the old Sigil Captain Juniper Order Ranger combo may be something to consider. Requiem Angel can also help you get more out your tokens. He's expensive, put an absolutly amazing source of tokens is my old favorite, Darien, King of Kjeldor. Goldnight Commander is also alright for token rushes.

Hope that helps

Thanks much, darmpark!
I really like Sigil Captain with saprolings, and I keep going back-and-forth on him. Maybe as a swap for Beastmaster Ascension?
I'm not so sure about Juniper Order Ranger ... I think Cathars' Crusade and Primal Vigor are stronger 5-drops.
I'm trying to use nothing but saproling and dragon tokens, so I'm going to pass on Requiem Angel and Darien, King of Kjeldor. Thanks though; they'd be great adds otherwise! I'll put something about that in the description above, as well.
Goldnight Commander is interesting. He's fine on the attack, but I really wish his ability persisted for blocking.

I'm glad I was of some help. I forgot to mention two cards, Gigantomancer and Creeperhulk. They're pricey mana wise, but since you plan on having lots of tokens this can also make for some big swings. Also, one cool thing with these is that they are both base p/t changes, meaning any counters on creatures they target still work.

I like your dedication to sticking to flavour and reasonable budget, also contemplating a Rith EDH myself, +1 due reasons.

I second the recommendation for Juniper Order Ranger (and Sigil Captain) though I admit I'm quite biased as he's an old favourite and has usually served me well. Swapping the Ascension for the Captain might be worthwhile. Harder to say what to take out for the Ranger though.

You were wondering about Mycoloth. He tends to attract removal extremely quick most times I've used him which is of course a bummer if you just devoured a ton of Saprolings. Then again it's the same thing for every prominent creature but as he requires an investment it can hurt more.

I like the idea of getting a dragon token out of destroying an artifact or enchantment so I'd try to add Sundering Growth there. You don't probably want to swap out either Artifact Mutation or Aura Mutation as you want as many Saprolings as possible?

darmpark - Oooh, I'm loving the Gigantomancer ... especially since he doesn't need to tap to activate! As an aside, he'd be absolutely insane in an Animar, Soul of Elements deck.
Creeperhulk looks fun too. If I was staying on the ground, I'd probably add it for sure. But in this deck, I think I'd rather have my 5/5s in the air and breathing fire :-)

Velkaarn -

OK, you and darmpark have convinced me: I'll give Juniper Order Ranger a go!

That's a really good point on Mycoloth. I was worried about how to recharge him, and I probably should have been worried about making sure he can survive a full wheel. Maybe just keep the total number of counters on him low? Maybe add a Vedalken Orrery to the mix so I can cast him on the opponent's end step, right before my turn? Maybe just drop him entirely? Hmmmm...

I like the idea of adding more artifact and enchantment hate, and the copy effect of Sundering Growth would be fun. I think I'll drop the Hellkite Tyrant. He offered an interesting alternate win-con, but it's weird to have some cards killing artifacts and another trying to gather as many as possible. Plus that'll open up a spot at the top of my curve for the Gigantomancer!

Do you get much use out of Sporoloth Ancient? I feel his ability of lowering the amount of spore counters needed on creatures is moot considering you only have one other that would use it. I would suggest removing him and adding either Pollenbright Wings or Fungal Sprouting for more burst growth. The same goes for Sporemound or Sprout Swarm. They are nice repeatable cards, but I feel they are not fast enough to be useful. Preyseizer Dragon might be a fun card, you should totes run him.

How are you doing with control? Aura Shards if you can get it under 5 would be beautiful.

My favorite mana pump card with saprolings really is Druids' Repository. It is really under estimated. You can play some early saprolings, swing the next turn, and then the turn after drop some dragons. It only gets more dangerous the more saprolings you have and always gives you mana to use Rith, the Awakener's ability.

RyProv, thanks much! I really appreciate your thoughts!

As the deck has evolved, I have less and less spore counters, so yeah, it make sense to get rid of Sporoloth Ancient. Probably Utopia Mycon too.

I like your recommendations for faster saproling generation, especially Pollenbright Wings.

Aura Shards has been in my maybeboard for a while, and I've been right on the edge of putting it in. I frankly need to buy some cards now (thanks to all the great recommendations from everyone so far) and get some playtesting in before I make the call on it!

And I really like the Druids' Repository...he looks like a great fit.

Thanks again!

demonicgrizzly, I appreciate the suggestion but I've already got Furyborn Hellkite, Imperial Hellkite, and Atarka, World Render as 7-drops. I'm not super-pleased with the Imperial, but if I pull him it'll probably be for a 6-drop like Mana-Charged Dragon or Preyseizer Dragon, rather than a $10.00 card with a non-repeatable effect (I don't really have any way to re-do ETBs in this deck).

I'm glad my old friend the Ranger pleases you! :) I was wondering about Imperial Hellkite earlier, you might want to replace him with something from the maybepile. Gigantomancer perhaps, I've had him used with tokens against me with annoying efficiency. If you're not using him for the tutor effect, which can be done much more efficiently in Green, maybe Enduring Scalelord for more counters? Though there are not that many here, just something that came to mind. How about a Moonveil Dragon for firebreathing Saprolings?

I second the recommendation for Pollenbright Wings though you do not have much trample around so being chumped is an actual risk. Taking that into account I feel tempted to recommend Fists of Ironwood from your Maybeboard cards. Sure, it's just two Saprolings once but might guarantee Rith connects. Aura Shards is of course great and pretty much guaranteed to eat first enchantment removal the opposition packs which can be good for your other enchantments! ;) Depends on your meta how much enchantment/artifact heat you want to include.

Velkaarn,

I keep just almost adding Enduring Scalelord. Partly because I have one so he's a freebie, and partly because I'd like to run a few more dragons with .

And I love the idea of firebreathing saprolings! Too fun!

I was looking at Fists of Ironwood earlier, too. I think I've got enough unblockable and double-strike though, som I'm going to hold off for now.

And yeah, +1 on Aura Shards. It's in, because I'm pulling the Hellkite Tyrant.

Thanks again!

Oh, that's cool r_type_one ... any card that lets me mess with the blue mages is a good card! And this one has awesome flavor text to boot! Thanks much!

Where is Purphoros!!!!

Umm _Djanngo_, I think you'll find him under "Exploit" if sorted by the default custom categories, and "Creature" if you sort by type.

Great suggestion though, _Djanngo_ ... I love Purphoros, God of the Forge for this deck too!
Indestructible + shocks for everyone + firebreathing Saprolings = Insane!

Idk why but playtesting your deck 8 times, I kept getting manascrewed. :( Perhaps run a Chromatic Lantern? Had no problem getting green. Just red and white. Love the premise of the deck so, +1

Thanks for the +1, SorinDankov! Yeah, I've been fine on red, but having some trouble with white; definitely need to tweak it a little. Thanks for the Lantern rec!

Joiner Adept is the creature version of it. Idk if that appeals to you as well. :P

No problem! I like the deck a lot! (:

Token producers: Mycoloth, Dragonlair Spider, Dragon Broodmother, Devout Invocation, Avenger of Zendikar, Assemble the Legion, Parallel Evolution, and Storm Herd if you feel up to it. Awakening Zone and From Beyond count as ramp though.

Here's some good lands if you feel like including them: Blighted Woodland, Blighted Steppe, Fertile Thicket, Sandstone Bridge, and Sejiri Steppe.

Good stuff: Mentor of the Meek makes draw out of your tokens. Collective Blessing makes an army instead (and if that army had True Conviction they are going to die). With Requiem Angel out you can attack with saprolings and get spirits when they die. Archangel of Tithes is awesome in so many ways, especially when you have an army of tokens out that cost mana just to block.

It may sound like I'm suggesting you change your entire deck. That's false. I'm just giving you a ton of cards for you to choose from. You won't be able to find all of the cards anyway (unless you buy them online).
