demonicgrizzly Deckspert

I am tom, and I hail from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I have been into Magic for a while, but only seriously playing since M15. I pretty much play exclusively modern, as I love the card selection and brewing is one of my favorite things.

My favorite deck to play is Green Deck Wins.

Feel free to ask questions. I know the modern format very well and I am happy to help.

BS-T you are correct, not the answer i was looking for haha

i think i will hand onto it for a while. i feel bad that i wasted to $$ on the precon to not gel at all with the commander but due to the popularity and cost of atraxa plus the other valuable cards in the deck i'm not too upset. I'll just keep my eyes on the value and make my move as needed. thanks for the advice!

So I have a copy of Atraxa, Praetors' Voice and I don't enjoy the card as much as I thought I would. Seeing at it is currently sitting at 15-20 bucks, should I sell/trade it now or do you think it will increase in value?

glad i could be of assistance! and you are right - it's basically a vampiric tutor for an additional mana that costs a few more life.

I'm sure i will have some more ideas for you after i look through it a few times.

fiddlermtg your reasons are sound. Thanks for the well thought out and Ckear, decisive response. Wish more people responded to questions and suggestions like this.

the goal with Approach of the Second Sun is that you would play it and then use your draw engines and pillowfort to stay alive long enough to draw and re-play it. edit: though if you are not a fan of the "i win" cards, you can choose not to run it. i have seen it do work in a similar pillowfort style build.

i actually have another suggestion - Lim-Dul's Vault to replace Contingency Plan. it's repeatable when you play it and you can dig as far as you want to find what you need, doesn't leave you open to graveyard hate, and it's an instant. as for the two tutors, i think you are running way too many lands (i counted 40). 38 lands would make you less prone to flood. so unless you have a very good reason for running so many lands, i would take out two lands for both tutors.

i would also consider Swan Song as an additional counterspell to add in place of another land.

no problem! thanks for the clarification. I was just going to suggest better tutors. Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor are much better than Diabolic Tutor or Beseech the Queen, but they are pricey, so i wanted to ask before i made the suggestion. long haul if you plan on making the deck better, these would be a good start down the line.

Thinking about your $10 limit, do you consider things like Enlightened Tutor or Mystical Tutor to be worth it? they can find your pillowfort enchantments or any instant/sorcery that you might need.

also, since you are pillowforting, how do you feel about Approach of the Second Sun?

are you working under any budget restrictions? i don't see the "budget" tag on your deck but noticed that it's not very expensive. Will help to know what not to suggest.

Wouldn't Blue Sun's Zenith be better than Pull from Tomorrow? The extra mana to not discard seems good. Also, Voidslime would be a good addition.

Sparky41 I only technically need one since I can swap it between decks but I wouldn't say no to two to avoid the haste. Unfortunately, no zen fetches. I do have a few kahns fetches thigh. One Polluted Delta, several Windswept Heath and Wooded Foothills.

rockleemyhero let me take a gander through your want list. I have the fetches listed above.

Looking to trade the iconic masters aether vial I just cracked for a pact of negation.

Also interested in Flusterstorm and cryptic command.

I have a giant binder of stuff that I can send photos of, I just havet had time to upload it on here

Some goodies I have: fetches, shocks, fast lands, quicksilver amulets, Genesis waves, etc.

I'm looking for things like lions eye diamond, black tutors, mikaeus, baby jace. Etc.

If you want to play creatures as spells for more flavor, you could play Vedalken Orrery. Instant speed speed creatures for the win

The thing about Necropotence is that while it seems like it's unnecessary, it really is amazing when you play with it. Find yourself tipdecking? Pay a few life and refill your hand. It just provides you with massive card advantage, as seeing more of your deck than your opponents usually means that you willing win. It's played in ultra competetive decks for a reason, and one life per card is a really good rate.

Ad Nauseam would be used in conjunction with Angel's Grace or even Phyrexian Unlife so you don't lose.

I do think though that Vedalken Orrery is a good card to keep you on flavor for max creatures and let's you play a ton instant speed. It's also more casual.

November 25, 2017 11:19 a.m.

Ok that's workable actually.

I would Uber's the following cards, in no particular order, that could be useful in both this deck and your meren deck. I will provide more but this will get you started and give me an idea if what you like.

Entomb is instant speed library to graveyard tutorAnimate Dead/Dance of the Dead/Necromancy can cheat out fatties from your yard or combo pieces. You can Entomb or Buried Alive for whatever you need and bring it out for cheap

Necropotence is just an overall great value card. You he 40 life, this can generate insane amounts of card advantage

Worldly Tutor is a good creature tutor

Ad Nauseam is card advantage

White cards for Karador specifically

Angel's Grace can be used to prevent a win or loss, and allow you to draw your entire deck with ad nauseam and cast your combos from hand

Silence will make it impossible for your opponents to stop your victories if you need it

Day of Judgment is a good board wipe

Again I have more but this is a starting point.

So I like this deck a lot. It is less focused than your meren deck, but has pottial. Whats your high end on budget?

November 24, 2017 9:12 a.m.

In my opinion either one would be good for toolbox type effects, but Karador I think has more options from the addition of white. Give you access to protection as well, such as Teferi's Protection and lots of removal and stay effect.

I think if you want a more focused toolbox, meren is your gal. But if you want more options, Karador definitely has more. Is your Karador list on here?
