I love the deck. I playtested some, and came up with the following:

  1. The deck needs a way to protect Wilderness reclamation from enchantment removal. +3 Negate and -1 Status / Statue -1 Forced Landing -1 Vraska's Contempt in SB to account for it.
  2. The Vraska's Contempt is really important though, so I'd move the 1 copy to Main and maybe drop an Incubation / Incongruity .
  3. The Callous Dismissal played very well, and while I wasn't thrilled with it when I initially reviewed the decklist, I really like it after playing. The bounce is nice on the ooze if nothing else or to recharge a Vivien, and of course helps a lot before an attack.
  4. Frilled Mystic is great in any Wilderness Reclamation deck, since it Flashes even without Vivien and protects the Reclamation while still being a body. I'm not sure what to drop for it, maybe -1 Thief of Sanity and -1 Hostage Taker to get at least 2 of them in and see what you think of them. They have been a 4-of in every Bant Flash deck I have tested.

Overall I really like your theme on it. This is the first Sultai mix I've seen, and the removal is something the Bant mix really misses. Nice work.

Woops, bad link: Whirly Chain Gang.

I don't think Find / Finality is that hard to cast, as we're already playing 5-drops in Skarrgan Hellkite . Worst case scenario it gets back hasty creatures or even better, it pulls up Goblin Chainwhirler for later use of Status / Statue . I do like things a bit more midrange-y, but at least the black splash feels quite safe.

Assassin's Trophy is a teeny bit harder to cast, as it demands both of our splash colors, not just a mix of the two. I could see it doing stuff though. Control is a tough match up...

Mine is more of a stock gruul aggro list with Status / Statue and Find / Finality as extra gravy. Jund Chainy Whirly

I've been running black for Status / Statue and haven't been disappointed so far. The combo with Goblin Chainwhirler or Skarrgan Hellkite is awesome, plus it takes out enchantments from time to time. Still mainly for the lulz.

I don't think it makes the plan of beating face any better. And even though I haven't had much trouble casting Chainy boy, it does make casting him a little harder.

Hey, DrukenReaps gave you good advice; keep it simple for your first Commander deck. Play one or two colors to start out :) Green Black is called Golgari and to get you started on your new Commander adventure with Golgari consider getting the Guilds of Ravnica Golgari Guild Kit? Scroll down the page to the Golgari one. This Kit is selling for $20 and has many good cards you can use in a Golgari Commander deck including three different legendary creatures to choose from for Commander.

Good cards in the Kit:

The Guild Kits are in my opinion some of the best products Wizards has recently made. The value of the cards in the Kit is about $22.

I second both of dbpunk's suggestions as Commander options for you to choose from. Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord is included in the Golgari Guide kit and is a budget Commander option, good creature to give trample. The Gitrog Monster is a more expensive price option as a Commander. If you can afford Gitrog go with him because not only is he a big creature who has deathtouch, but he's also a good creature to give trample too and his abilities are a little more complex than Jarad, more fun to build around and later expand on. Jarad can be a card in the 100 card deck of Gitrog.

heckproof, I have considered it. I'm just not sure that splashing the green is worth it. I already have removal, and I can put Demystify in the sideboard. I know for card efficiency, access to the other half of Status / Statue would be good, but that lowers potential card efficiency elsewhere as I have to cut back on other mana sources for the green (probably not significantly so, though?). Still, it may not lower the efficiency enough to matter and may give me access to that other card half. I've been kicking around the ide, just haven't yet had a chance to try it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Murphy77 on Gruesome Saprolings

I have been looking for a fun deck to play every now and again as an alternative to my current main deck. I used your deck as a basis for Soppy Sappy which looks like it could be great fun to play.

The focus is still on swarming with Saprolings, but Sporecrown Thallid gives them all +1/+1s and after attacking with a 1/1 token, I can swing in with Bladebrand or Status / Statue to give it deathtouch. Any suggestions?
