Alley Strangler

Creature — Aetherborn Rogue

Menace (This creature can't be blocked except by two or more creatures.)

Welcome to EDH! It's a super fun game mode : )

The deck looks really solid as-is! One thing I noticed: Edge of the Divinity is technically illegal, since it has a symbol and your commander's identity isn't white.

A couple replacements I might make: Master Thief -> Thada Adel, Acquisitor. What's better than taking an artifact until your creature leaves? Taking an artifact permanently. Go forth and steal everyone's Sol Rings.

Alhammarret's Archive -> Notion Thief. I think Notion Thief fits the theme a bit better, and losing out on double draw is probably worth also denying bonus draws from something like Rhystic Study or Pull from Tomorrow, especially since you don't have many ways to deal with enchantments or artifacts.

Alley Strangler -> Opposition Agent. There are too many tutors in EDH. It's time to make people think twice before casting that Imperial Seal.

Good luck, and have fun!

Hi! So, just to make sure I've got a handle on this:

I attack with an Alley Strangler, opponent defends with 2 100/100s (or whatever). By saying he/she is blocking with those, that is the "declare blockers step" and so now I can give my Alley Strangler a Necrobite, killing the blockers and saving my Alley Strangler. And the Alley Strangler is saved because the regeneration was set up before the combat damage step......right?

This deck looks incredibly inconsistent as is. Far too many 1-ofs and 2-ofs. Try cutting many of the less important ones off and increasing the more important cards to your strategy. For example, how does Alley Strangler help with your deck? Try putting in 4 copies of cards like Longtusk Cub and Winding Constrictor. Also Consulate Turret is just bad. If you have a foil Fatal Push and are a budget player TRADE IT! Those things are gold right now!

I think Gifted Aetherborn over Alley Strangler.

Baby nighthawk getting chumped works out a bit better and it lowers the already low curve.

I would tighten up the Aggro of this deck. Cut your 6 and 7 drops, its silly with only 20 lands and no ramp. Your curve will top out at 4 and it will be fine. Replace the 4x Aethersphere Harvesters with 4x Animation Modules. Think of this as Mono Black Merfolk and you'll get the idea. I think Alley Strangler and Vengeful Rebel are great to run in the deck. The Strangler's Menace is real good with removal making blocking him difficult and Tribal synergies buffing his power. The Rebel is a Grasp of Darkness that also is a 3 powered attacker. You should be able to get revolt with the sacrificing token theme you have. All removal and fast beats sounds like a fun place to start. As for Sideboard, you'll have to wait till you play the deck a little first and get to know what your deck is weak against.

lordnova42 on Help with fleshing out my …

I used to play magic back in high school, but quit shortly after, and haven't played in 14 years, until this weekend.
I went to the midnight pre-release, made a R/G deck, but didn't do that good, 16 out of 28. The Sunday pre-release I made a B/R deck, and took 2nd out of 8th (barely had enough players to hold the tournament).
Some of the guys I was playing with invited me to the Tuesday night standard games they play there, so I need to flesh out my deck.
Here's what I made for my second tournament:
7 Mountain
1 Spire of Industry
9 Swamp
1 Aether Poisoner
2 Alley Strangler
1 Consulate Skygate
1 Consulate Turret
1 Daring Demolition
1 Embraal Bruiser
1 Foundry Hornet
1 Frontline Rebel
1 Gonti's Machinations
1 Hijack
1 Irontread Crusher
1 Lathnu Sailback
1 Night Market Lookout
1 Ornithopter
1 Perilous Predicament
1 Prophetic Prism
1 Quicksmith Rebel
1 Salivating Gremlins
2 Shock
1 Spontaneous Artist
1 Thriving Rats
1 Yahenni, Undying Partisan

Here is my entire inventory of magic cards:
Using just the cards I already have, what cards would you recommend adding, or swapping out, to make this a 60 card casually competitive deck?
I do plan on increasing my collection, but I have a very limited disposable income at this time, so can't go out and buy expensive cards, so I'm probably going to stick to picking up a few booster packs each payday.
Thanks!

Took second at the midnight prerelease at my lgs. Went 4-0-1 with a fun deck. First round I won game one; then game two we each had massive boardstates but neither could get ahead (went to time for the draw). Then 2-0; four in a row

2 Augmenting Automaton
2x Thriving Turtle
1x Metallic Mimic
1x Workshop Assistant
1x Alley Strangler
2x Watchful Automaton
1x Vedalken Blademaster
1x Iron League Steed
1x Noxious Gearhulk
1x Torrential Gearhulk
1x Gearseeker Serpent

1x Negate
1x Ice Over
1x Resourceful Return
2x Mind Rot
3x Leave in the Dust
1x Yahenni's Expertise
1x Reverse Engineer

8x Island 8x Swamp

Somehow I completely neglected pretty much all of the major components that make up kaladesh. Energy, vehicles, revolt, servos/thopters... shit I didn't even have flying

is good. Hidden Stockpile does work, I was scared. Dawnfeather Eagle can turn the tides in a stalemate

is crazy strong. I think won first.

21 people total. No masterpieces were opened during the event. Still, 10/10 would recommend.

The blue birds and turtle seem superfluous to the theme of the deck. Maybe bounce them out for Gifted Aetherborn and Alley Strangler for that synergy.
