They said it couldn't be done. They were probably right.
Budget casual jund deck. Not the most competitive deck I could've made, but I dont fancy dropping big moneys on fetches or goyfs or lillies. That being said, i did try and make it as good as possible under my budget restraints.
Managorger Hydra is my Tarmogoyf replacement (nothing can REALLY replace goyf, but I’m working with what I got) and I’m using Asylum Visitor as a budget semi Dark Confidant to get just a bit of card draw in the deck. Should be pretty good considering how fast this deck looks like it can dump its hand.
Using Duress instead of Thoughtseize cause budget, splashing on the Inquisition of Kozilek’s though as there isn’t much that can replace it for good CMC and hand disruption is pretty damn important in jund.
Liliana, Waker of the Dead is my Liliana of the Veil substitute, which isn’t even close to being as good, but combined with extra removal will have to do. Wrenn and Six was a toughie, but I think Arlinn Kord
or Domri, Anarch of Bolas could make some relatively good replacements.
Removal is still relatively spicy. 4 Lightning Bolt is a mainstay in literally every deck with red, so its an autoinclude. Fatal Push deals with most early game threats that bolt can’t to really lay the beatdown. Maelstrom Pulse is my Assassin's Trophy replacement, almost as good for a fifth of the price.
Jund is often thought as an expensive deck to get into, but I see no reason why it should be. It's just a colour combo like anything else. Now go out there and (sort of) JUND EM OUT!
