Ad Nauseam > Treasure hunt?
rathamar1, 10 years ago
So contemplating the ramifications of going to Ad Nauseam over Treasure Hunt Treasure hunt has been my allstar of manland decks for a while (Ive got a gang of em) but like Treasure hunt ad nauseam gets better the more lands you put in. Considering I will be losing the T2 drop of Summer Bloom into treasure hunt and a Reliquary Tower. But I gain instant speed and most of all multiple nonland cards! I think this may outweigh going from a 2 cmc to 5cmc. I can still T3 play ad nauseam.
Now im not convinced I want to go to 4 ad nauseam. Basically that means I could kill myself easier. So I think 1 or 2 of taking the slots from treasure hunt.

The release of Dromoka's Command has had a big impact on the deck. Aside from simply being a very powerful and versatile card, it is extremely significant because it gives W/G enough sources of removal to be relatively consistent. Between this, Valorous Stance and Banishing Light, we can run up to 12 removal spells without having to sacrifice our ability to trigger Heroic. Having access to removal is important here because aside from Gods Willing we have no way to make creatures unblockable. Instead of an unblockable threat we have multiple difficult to block creatures, and removal for the things our creatures cant get past.

Played a couple 5 player games, Zedruu was effective but trollish. Took out main offenders (looking at you, Transcendence)
Still No Changes

I'm pretty satisfied with this list even with a lot of testing. I'm sure there are some ways to make it better so keep the suggestions coming :)

Small update

Replaced the temples with lands that usually don't enter tapped and suck a little less. Replace mike-trike with deadeye-palinchron. It mostly still wins on resolution, however it requires less overall mana and palinchron is not miserable to have out by itself. Also, palinchron can work with vorinclex or phantasmal image, but it requires you to have six lands for vorinclex and seven for image. Deadeye works off of just three.

Huge changes thanks to comments
Trockenmatt, 10 years ago
Mostly, this is about clearing old comments and making room for new ones. Always be sure to tell me what to take out, instead of just saying what to put in.

Optimized List

I've updated the main description, but the biggest change has been to remove the combo win-con altogether and dedicate those slots to control. I was finding I was only using the combo win-con about 25% of the time, and even then I wasn't pressed to win on the spot and could take my time winning with Thopter Foundry or Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas. Dispatch and more Executioner's Capsule have been added in its place.

clearing comments so that it looks nice, kinda breaks OCD staring at comments that don't need to be there anymore

Who likes R/g Dragons?

I do! I am using Surrak, the Hunt Caller, Stormbreath Dragon, and Thunderbreak Regent to utilize fast and big creatures!
Let's Begin!

This is my final prototype before actual testing of this deck so if anyone has an idea to improve it I'll gladly listen. Cheers!
Some future changes
MagicMarc, 10 years ago
As soon as I get some copies I am putting in some Darksteel Citadel for more Ensoul Artifact targets. I am also going to add 2 of Altar of the Brood so that it won't even be necessary to swing my guys if I combo off and to potentially maim my opponent's game plan.
Slaughtered...:-(

I tried to make the deck a little more midrange with Flame-Wreathed Phoenix and Ashcloud Phoenix but it went horrible and went 0-4 on the FNM barely winning even a single match. I know i have to stick to aggro now. I will try to modify the mana base with fewer tapped lands and will focus more on 1 and 2 drops. I will try Dragon Whisperer and will try to aquire some more Battlefield Forge
I will stick to Purphoros, God of the Forge though. i know he can be good in the right deck. I will add Chandra, and Outpost Siege too for card draw and i havent tested Thunderbreak Regent how looks like a boss, but that will be it as far as 4 drops. I will keep the rest as aggro as possible

Mana problem SOLVED
Rosenkreutz, 10 years ago
Thanks to shadow63 the mana problem is now officially gone, given the total waste this deck laid on a monowhite kithkin midrange deck, with no noticeable trouble with mana whatsoever. Welcome, Crypt Ghast
