A deck I am building for my brother for Christmas, based on a draft deck I built that went undefeated against my pod at thanksgiving. He's got a pod of sweaty bracket 3's at his workplace he wants to join that have been sticking him with non-upgraded precons, and he wanted something to level the playing field, but he doesn't want to get too deep into collecting himself.

The plan is: Exdeath and self mill to fill the graveyard for graveyard-matters effects and reanimation. He chose the commander, and I'm building it. He wanted FF, AtLA, or BG cards if possible as an extra deckbuilding restriction.

On testing, this deck can kill bracket 3 decks reliably by turn 7-8, 10 if it's going slow, faster if your opponents get bad draws or just can't put out big enough bodies to block. Exdeath looks kind of lame on paper but it's actually a strength - with a big graveyard he's threatening enough to need to kill, but he's also spectacularly cheap to bring back even if he eats removal, and you have a lot of targets for removal. Most big-hitters in the deck are graveyard-matters creatures, with a few more specialized big guns who are generic heavy hitters or have unique effects. The balance of the deck is keeping enough cards in the graveyard to make your creatures as big as they need to be.

General strategy: Keep a hand with 3+ lands and at least one source of turn 2 mill. A bit more cheap mill will not go wrong. Summon Exdeath only after getting him ready to flip on your end step, or if you really need a 3/3 body. Fill up the graveyard early enough to ramp and keep you with on-curve creatures. If you're able to reliably get 1-2 cards back from the graveyard each turn on your upkeep/first main, you've basically won. Keep a few artifacts around to dodge graveyard hate as well, and a few targeted removal pieces. You can generally beatdown voltron or counters opponents, fliers have to hold back creatures to block, and token decks die to the many sources of trample, so save removal for things that interfere with your reanimation or protection pieces that make opponents hard to target. Removals and boardwipes are great for you even if you're eating 80% of them, as you can get your boardstate back VERY quickly and they just fill your graveyard with more fodder. Commander Damage, regular damage, or a few pricy cards like Rise of the Dark Realms and Primal Odin + Rogue's Passage can all win the game for you.

Honestly, this deck is shockingly fast and stompy. Check it out if you want to.
