Sideboard

I made my Roon of the Hidden Realm deck in 2013. Over the years I have upgraded it to keep the deck formidable with the growing power curve. At long last Roon has retired and Ellie and Alan, Paleontologists have stepped in as the new commander. The only difference now is that Ellie and Alan help the deck when the hand runs low or you need to dig for an answer. Roon helped strengthen the board state so you could swap between the two.

This deck now focuses on 3 things.

1) Populating the field through the manifest/manifest dread mechanic. Since this mechanic is all about the top of the deck we make it more consistent by using as many permanents as possible. This includes board wipes and spot removal.

2) With a growing army of face down 2/2’s, we use blink and flicker cards to have them re-enter face up. These cards also have to be permanents. There doesn't have to be a lot of them since the cards can always be flipped up by paying their mana cost. The later the game goes on the easier that is to do.

3) The creatures must have a big body and must have an secondary ability to keep the card from being dead in the hand. Either some form of cycling, adventure, or a way to cast or discard by an alternate cost.

It took some time to find the right balance between the manifest, flicker, and big creatures cards but I believe I have found it. Making a deck with two main themes is tough enough but three is near impossible. So if you try to build this deck please keep that balance in mind. I really enjoy playing with this deck and recommend giving it a try.
