Hiya! I played a Black Rose deck for 6 and half years, and here are some of my observations:

(1) If you want to run some more unusual creatures, Thalakos Deceiver is exceptional, as is Goblin Grenadiers.

(2) you can spike the power and create significant annoyance with Dauthi Voidwalker. Remember the void counters track between instances, so you can really can just smack with it until you need it, and then it remembers all the cards its exiled over its whole life span.

(3) In your land base, take out some of the slower lands for Threshold Cycle Cabal Pit, Cephalid Coliseum and Barbarian Ring. The neat trick is you wait til you've filled up your bin with stuff (before her Ladyship brings them back), and activate them then. Otherwise they are painlands which enter untapped and add coloured mana.

(4) The last cute trick is Trinket Mage. Now, if the Ozolith and the Skull Clamp weren't good enough reasons... Consider Myr Scrapling and Hope of Ghirapur, both of which are exceptional utility creatures of the deck. If you want to be extra spicy, you can even add some artifact lands so you use the mage to mana fix

First off, love this idea. Probably going to copy. But I have an idea or two:

I'd drop True Conviction to one, or none at all. 5 mana is a big ask these days, plus around turn five I think it'll be too late for the life gain or double strike to really impact the game state. I think there are more effective ways to accomplish what this card does earlier in the game.

I'd definitely mainboard Necropede even though he's not a myr. You don't have consistent early infect pressure so you could essentially start splitting your damage into traditional and infect. I'd also try and find a way to mainboard Steel Overseer, then you don't have to worry about myr tribal since he hits all artifacts.

I hate to say it, but Urza's Saga would be beautiful in this deck. Especially since two of your equipments and two of your creatures can be added to the battlefield with Urza's Saga.

Also, with the myr tribal, you lose out on some infect typing, so maybe a Stoneforge Mystic to help search out Grafted Exoskeleton. Maybe.

Lastly, since you're running Grafted Exoskeleton, Etched Champion seems like he's at least on the maybeboard. Protection means unblockable, and unblockable infect is very annoying. I'd throw in a Welding Jar on the maybeboard as well.

Other good artifacts to mull over that synergize with Urza's Saga: Basilisk Collar, Ghostfire Blade, Shadowspear, Myr Servitor, Myr Scrapling

I've seen a few b/r artifact lists - from Slag Fiend / Atog brews, strategies that try and cheat Sundering Titan into play, and lots of random combos. Red and black have some really cool artifact-loving creatures and spells - from Wildfire to Disciple of the Vault .

If you are trying to use Embercleave you want 1 drops and go-wide. If you want engineer you want artifacts that like dying and coming back. If you want Gaduk you want to sacrifice artifact creatures and bring them back.

For this list, which wants to go to midrange and pressure life totals hard, I'd run Lightning Bolt + Galvanic Blast + Shrapnel Blast as the spells, and play a lot of 1-of creatures that make or like artifacts if I was going more casual, or grab an established value engine for artifacts if I was trying to be competitive. Having 9 points of burn in hand is a lot easier in artifact lists with red, and black does excellently at applying the pressure to force the life total that low.

Right now, MH2 has given modular a kick, so Arcbound Worker , Myr Scrapling , Sparring Construct . Zabaz, the Glimmerwasp are all still good without dipping into white. Scrapyard Recombiner is also neat. Its not the only option - there are a lot of cards that support artifacts in dealing damage or grinding out attacks - they've been printed in almost every set and they are good. Look at competitive lists sideboards to get a stronger idea of what is out there, or nab strong artifacts that rotate out of standard.

Hi, really cool and creative Marchesa build :) I really like the inclusion of the mana-producing myr as additional bodies. Can you tell me how well they perform for you? I imagine that they are slow or too easily removed in some scenarios, but I think this trade-off might as well be worth it.

Have you thought about including Myr Scrapling ? I think it acts as some early protection for Marchesa or other key pieces and generates some +1/+1-counters along the way. Since your build is artifact-heavy, it might even do some additional work.

I would also probably play Village Rites for some burst draw instead of Vampiric rites, as 2 mana to activate the ability is a lot.
