Better themed

Zeta497, 11 years ago

Changed it to draw power from the milling. Added Consuming Aberration, Wight of Precinct Six, and Nighthowler. Kept a few Wall of Frost
MDN 2 / 3
Mindcrank feature for Grind

Tachyonic53, 11 years ago

Took some advice from quaker171 and put a bit of protection from control decks as well as replaced some of the low mana blockers for the early game and put Spike Jester in to add early damage. I also added Dark Prophecy for some draw power to keep creatures on the field and add devotion.

Put Mindsparker on the Maybe-board. Makes the deck a bit creature-heavy, but is it worth it?

White is Right

KrimsonWolf, 11 years ago

The overall goal of this deck is to get a bunch of merfolk out, make them unblockable (island walk), and big.

However while it's building up to that strategy white helps it to slow the game down, and cards like Stonybrook Schoolmaster help get more myrfolk as does Summon the School which I don't have yet, I left it in the side-board as a reminder I need to get it.

The other white cards are giving me life to help me last or destroying my opponents attackers to help me last longer.

There are a few other cards I may want to acquire as well such as Tidal Warrior, and Sygg, River Guide

V. 3.2: Future effect support.

AslanCross, 11 years ago

V. 3.2: Replaced Scalding Tarn with Thawing Glaciers. The glaciers are reusable and thus a lot more useful for deck thinning, and I wanted to sell my Tarn for $$. Also added Future Sight and Magus of the Future for redundancy and pseudo-ramp.

Added a sideboard. Not really built around answers, it's really intended to transition into a slower, slightly more jund-y build for when the all-or-nothing plan isn't likely to work. Caveat: I am terrible at making sideboards. edit: also swapped Double Cleave for Fling to mesh better with the sideboard Persecutors

Updated the deck a little bit. Tried to make it as close to a modern legal deck as possible. But also tried to make it close to the current standard UW control deck. still 4 illegal cards in it, Preordain,Winds of Rath, Aurification and Propaganda. I need the Aurification and Propaganda to slow down my enemy enough. The winds of Rath is just a boardwipe, because I lack more of them in my collection. I should replace the preordain with an other card draw card. Maybe 1 more Azorius charm. It works quite well in my casual playgroup, but still needs a lot of work. My deck tends to stabilize around 3-6 life. Which is way too close for comfort. Not sure how I can improve on that.

Mana

mtgchoi, 11 years ago

Just wanted to fix my colors as I found myself mulling occasionally solely due to lack of having good colors in my hand. So I added the Temple Gardenfoils mainly because green is slightly more dominant than red and it helps with the Ordeal of Nylea and the Warriors' Lesson to also draw and fix my mana.

Removed All is Dust from the sideboard because of the destruction of your own enchantments. Looking to replace it.

Edits all around

BoromirOfGondor, 11 years ago

I've changed up the main and sideboard, as Jace, Memory Adept and Kiora, the Crashing Wavefoil were not delivering. Jace was swapped for a third Crackling Perimeter, and Kiora (among others) was swapped for Saruli Gatekeepers and Bow of Nylea to combat aggro. As for AEtherling, I can't support it the way Esper or UW can; I don't have the time or the resources, and it usually ends up being a Time Walk for my opponent.

some changes

Arnny1212, 11 years ago

just got Mirrorworks Mycosynth Golem and Memnarch for $7

took out a few cards and probably will rearrange the set up again.

sunawa, 11 years ago

Removed the 3 Tajic, Blade of the Legion's and Ajani, Caller of the Pride. Put in as a replacement Imposing Sovereign. After talking with a friend, realized that I can't clone Tajic, and it relies too much on creatures (which I don't have enough of to focus on battalion triggers). Ajani was somewhat of the same case, as he was in the deck to buff Tajic either with a +1/+1 counter, or giving double strike and flying. While the double strike and flying can be transferred over to creatures such as AEtherling, it is too situational for now. Considered for use in the future, once more AEtherling's have been acquired, and maybe some other creatures worth buffing.

Edit

sleepy104, 11 years ago

I'm still considering sideboarding Angel of Jubilation as the deck runs some sac that is semi-needed for tempo, it's mainly in there to stop black from getting too dirty as my group runs a lot of reanimation. (hence the handy Night Soil)

phantomvortex7, 11 years ago

Added a few cards, I am looking to add a bit more 1-2 drops then pumping them considering that is what happens a lot more than anything. Also added some cards that I just traded for over spring break to make this deck a bit better,

3-1

ghash, 11 years ago

Well I just went 3-1 in my last event. I lost my first match which I would have stood a much better chance in if I had more than two land in game 3 but all the other games went pretty smoothly. Creatures with haste aren't my most favorite thing in the world and Xenagod isn't pleasant I have realized but overall it went well! People dont really play much aggro at my LGS but I played a match against a Boros Burn deck and went 1-1 with no sideboards. So overall it was a decent night and I'll keep everyone posted on how it does in the future! If you have the cards you should give it a shot, its fun to play with and people dont mind getting controlled by it as much because it is wacky and fun!

Took out 3 Angelic Wall

Added 3 Sylvan Caryatid

Took out 4 Azorius Guildgate

Added 4 Temple of Mystery

I wish Fog Bank was standard, I totally would've had it instead of Angelic Wall in the first place.
