Your deck is looking pretty sweet! Scion is an amazing Commander, and a ton of fun!

As for basic things, I don't think you need 40 lands. I would recommend somewhere around 35-37 max. I would play Coalition Relic, Fellwar Stone, Birds of Paradise an Nature's Lore. Also, if you can afford Fetchlands Lotus Cobra is a great was to get Scion out turn 3.

I would stay away from Dragonspeaker Shaman orDomri Rade. You don't really want to rely on hard casting dragons. This is something I say to a lot of people, it is just my opinion. You do you.

I personally wouldn't run charms,Beastmaster Ascension, Smite the Monstrous, Pillar of Light, and Kill Shot. You have almost every card in Magic at your disposable. I would recommend looking at other lists for card ideas for what you are looking for. Play to your Meta. I would try to add Brainstorm, Path to Exile/Swords to Plowshares, and Swiftfoot Boots/Lightning Greaves.

I hope this helps!

I'm only running 40 right now cause I'm lacking a few of those pieces. This is just the first version of this deck but definitely do appreciate the input. I do agree on not wanting to rely on hard casting my dragons. I have a few that I look to hard cast but most I want to clone. Domri Rade has been in there somewhat as a "can I slide through a game with him in long enough to proc off his -7" card.

Thank you again for the input. I've been having a lot of fun playing this deck so far and has given other decks some serious issues that have had a lot more time to playtest.

+1 for a fellow scion deck!Take a look at mine to see if you can take any ideas from it!http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/04-05-15-scion-of-the-ur-dragon-deck/

Klovin21 I actually was just looking at it! Haha. You have some awesome stuff going on in there. Honestly as massive and terrifying as this deck is/can be I aim to control the board with most of it. The attacks are big but I also enjoy tapping down my opponents creatures so they can't attack next turn as well as having dragons like Dragonlord Dromoka in play so they can't cast spells during my turn. The Door to Nothingness was thrown in sort of as a goof card but I actually pulled it off the other night and it almost resulted in a table flip.

Krakshot Haven't dropped the $$ on them yet. I know the combo well and have contemplated throwing it in there just haven't done so yet. As of now this deck has worked really really well so I'm gonna ride it out a little longer.

It certainly isn't necessary to have, it's just nice as an instant kill combo. Skith is a tad spendy, but at least Moltensteel is less than a dollar.

thatgingerguy says... #8

Krakshot yeah Moltensteel is fun and will most likely happen sometime soon. For now hard casting Atarka, World Render and changing Scion into Hellkite Overlord is a fun instant kill when I pump him up enough to do lethal commander damage.

Running 5 color originally worried the hell out of me in terms of land and what to play but now I've realized this deck is basically one massive toolbox.

Crucible of Fire would be great for this deck.

Skullion123 I had one in here for a little while. Definitely does work well but needed the space for a spell or two (couldn't remember what i replaced at this time).

Athenaaa Thanks for the recommendations! A few of these I've had my eye on and a couple I was not aware of.

Counterspell over Cancel and Swan Song over Negate.

Demonic Tutor over Sarkhan's Triumph.

I think maybe you should run more recursion stuff like Animate Dead and Necromancy.

I'm not a fan of Cataclysm because it gives your opponent choices. A well-timed Armageddon can often win a game.

Gravepurge is kind of a not so great card. Just run Eternal Witness.

The ultimate creature tutor is Survival of the Fittest. It can fuel graveyard shenanigans and get you whatever you're looking for in your hand.

This deck is in my playgroup, not fun to play against hahaha

UpsetYoMama thanks for the recommendations. I'm running the Sarkhan's Triumph over Demonic Tutor cause I'm gunning mainly for my Thunderbreak Regent. Gravepurge ends up in the deck to continue to fuel my Scion of the Ur-Dragon. Being able to do that after 4-5 clones is helpful. I don't want them in my hand as much as I want my cards in my library. I choose to hardcast every once in a while but can finish off the job with Scion and one or 2 other dragons in play. I keep meaning to drop a counterspell in over a cancel.

But thank you for the recommendations again and for checking out the deck!

No Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon? what kinda deck is this?

May 17, 2015 5:53 p.m.

thatgingerguy says... #18

Disdained I know that + Moltensteel Dragon combo is a thing I just haven't added it to this deck as of yet. I know it's a great instakill combo but honestly I've been running this deck for the past few weeks in my playgroup and it has not been beaten unless I have a mana issue.

May 17, 2015 7:13 p.m.

Disdained says... #19

understandable, Skithiryx is just my favorite dragon in all of magic.

thatgingerguy says... #20

Disdained Don't get me wrong that card is absolutely incredible. It will probably end up here in time. For now I've been having fun with just controlling the table during my turn as much as possible with Dragonlord Dromoka and Ojutai, Soul of Winter. No spells plus freezing my opponents causes a lot of headache for them.

Cancel is like, the worst Counter, even for that cost. I would upgrade it to Swan Song or Dissipate. Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile are also both worth running in EDH.

May 19, 2015 12:56 a.m.

thatgingerguy says... #23

nayrash5 thanks for the recommendations. I currently have Cancel in there because it's one of the few counterspells I have handy. Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares i've seen in a bunch of decks and will probably add at some point.

Thanks for checking out the deck though!

Skullion123 says... #24

Coat of Arms should be in here. I also think you should put Crucible of Fire back in, seeing as most of your creatures are dragons.

May 19, 2015 7:33 p.m.

thatgingerguy says... #25

Skullion123 I've thought about putting crucible of fire back in because it does play to my creature type but I haven't needed to really pump them up anymore since I'm usually hammering my opponents over the head with multiple dragons at time and usually with either Double Strike (cause of Atarka) or going for multiple combat phases with Aggravated Assault.
