What is all your cunning worth when my legions of rats rip your face apart?
Run down in alphabetical order:
Adaptive Automaton: Recieves all the boosts that rats do, as well as boosting them back.
Akroma's Memorial: All of a sudden, flying first-striking vigilant trampling protection from black and red! ANd also, they atack as soon as they hit the board.
Barren Moor: In rat decks, we don't need too much land. Eventually, we're happy to simply cycle them.
Bojuka Bog: Death to snpcaster, tarmogoyf, etc...
Cabal Coffers: Mono black ramp!
Cavern of Souls: Uncounterable rats coming your way!
Coat of Arms: The rat kingdom shall destroy all.
Crypt of Agadeem:More black ramp!
Dark Ritual: Moar black ramp!
Demonic Tutor: Demonic is best tutor.
Diabolic Tutor: Tutors for the win.
Door of Destinies: Relentless pumping!
Gnat Miser
: Early game rat that never ceases to annoy.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel: He won't do much. It's not like this is mono-black or anything.
Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni: Ninja rat that regenerates and returns creatures to battlefields? Yes please!
Marrow-Gnawer: Our commander gives all the rats fear and nearly doubles them!
Midnight Banshee: Because mono-black.
Necropotence: Because moar mono-black.
Nihil Spellbomb: Grave control that draws cards.
No Mercy: This is the one card that made me love black so much.
Ogre Slumlord: Here, have some more rats. And also, they have deathtouch.
Okiba-Gang Shinobi
: Didn't you used to have a hand or something?
Pack Rat: It benefits so much from all the rats.
Pestilence Rats
: See above.
Phyrexian Arena: Let the card draw begin.
Phyrexian Obliterator: It's not a rat, but it does do some really, REALLY crazy stuff.
Phyrexian Reclamation: This deck has a commander that makes you sacrifice creatures, its always nice to have a way to get the sacrificed creatures back.
Phyrexian Tower: MOAR BLACK RAMP!
Polluted Mire: Cycle un-needed lands.
Ratcatcher
: You can never have too many rats in your hand.
Relentless Rats: WE ARE RATS. WE ARE LEGION. WE DO NOT FORGIVE. WE DO NOT FORGET. EXPECT US.
Reliquary Tower: No maximum hand size is always good.
Shizo, Death's Storehouse: Strictly better than a basic land. There could be cases in which the general is down for the count, I have Ink-Eyes out and want to give it Intimidate, this will work.
Sign in Blood: Card draw, or kills the opponent if they're really low.
Skullclamp: In a deck of rats, it dominates.
Sol Ring: EDH staple. Enough said.
Sorin Markov: Drop their total to 10 then swing with your rat legion.
Strip Mine: Mana? What mana?
Swamp: Yeah, these really have no purpose in this deck.
Swarm of Rats
: Tons of power. Then drop your commander, and watch their nonblack deck cry.
Swarmyard: Regenerate your rat minions for free.
Temporal Extortion
: Welcome to mono-black.
Thornbite Staff Equip to Marrow-Gnawer. Activate its ability. Sacrifice a rat token. Get more rat tokens. The token does hit the graveyard before leaving the game. Untap Marrow-Gnawer. As long as I had at least 2 more rats at the beginning of this process, combo for infinite rats. (Auto-equips to
Gnat Miser
too!)
Throat Slitter
: Rat ninjas are pretty damn good.
Thrumming Stone
: Drop a Relentless Rats. Behold, the unstoppable legion of rats! Most of the time you'll use one of the tutors to get it.
Typhoid Rats
: Deathtouch really annoys people for whatever reason.
Urborg: Because it's better than a basic swamp.
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth: Makes everything a swamp for Cabal Coffers.
Vampiric Tutor: Learning is fun!
Volrath's Stronghold: One does not simply kill your rats for rats for long.
Wound Reflection: They take twice as much damage! Yay!
My first EDH deck. Untested right now, feedback would be greatly appreciated
