I don't think you need 4 Inspiring Statuary. Each one after the first is basically a dead draw. Also +1 Expose Evil over Jace's Scrutiny because it basically does the same thing but better.

My bad, got it confused with Trail of Evidence. I still believe you need more investigation. Maybe more cards like Press for Answers such as Expose Evil, Confirm Suspicions, Survive the Night, or Jace's Scrutiny.

Similar decks usually seem to include Jace's Scrutiny and Press for Answers. I don't see why they wouldn't fit here.

I agree with you about Glimmer here, it should be easy to improvise for RE and you don't have a use for the energy anyway. Maybe Contingency Plan or something like that to dig?

Reverse Engineer is an extremely powerful card, and you should probably be running at lest 3 copies mainboard. Negate seems underwhelming, except that it can counter a high percentage of meta cards, such as Heart of Kiran and Saheeli Rai.

Investigate cards such as Jace's Scrutiny and Press for Answers can shut down a creature for a turn and provide you with another artifact.

If you want to splash and upgrade, black would probably be the best control color. Battle at the Bridge is an Improvise Death Wind. Black also offers Noxious Gearhulk, and Fatal Push as more expensive cards that could fit into this archetype.

I feel that Terrarion and Explosive Apparatus are pretty underpowered, so Glassblower's Puzzleknot is a good artifact that you can tap to Improvise. Merchant's Dockhand is a good early artifact that can improvise and has lategame function.

Metalwork Colossus could be a one of for an endgame, if you wish, as its fairly cheap.

I would take out the Weirding Wood as you will normally draw the 4 lands you need by turn 4, and move Root Out to sideboard as it will often be a dead card against non-artifact match-ups, and bring in 4 Jace's Scrutiny and 2 Glimmer of Genius to control them, and assemble the combo quicker. Also, I LOVE this combo, it seems so sweet! :)

Really like the idea. However, maybe have something like Fleeting Memories or Confront the Unknown, something that Investigates and doesnt need a target. Jace's Scrutiny is also a cheap Investigate control-ish card that would help get a clue faster

You are playing a lot of aggressive creatures and artifacts for a deck that you'd like to take control. Maverick Thopterist is solid for a control deck based around artifacts. Gifted Aetherborn is an option, if you can handle the strange manabase we'd need for 3 colors with a double-black cost. But one challenge for me and control is getting over my -need- to have creatures around.

One tip for building control...control -needs- card draw to keep it going. It's all about finding answers to threats. Glimmer of Genius (and often Anticipate as well) is pretty much a go-to for any blue-based control deck at the moment...because nothing feels worse than holding up a counterspell, and then all they do is smash you in the face with a creature and pass the turn. That way you can still use your mana, and dig for an answer.

So then, you need to look for the answers to find. The instants you have are all good options. Battle at the Bridge even has potential to help, and is on-theme. And if we can chug out enough artifacts, Unlicensed Disintegration is pretty much the best kill-spell in the format (or there's Murder if you nix the red). Fatal Push is also worth looking at, if you happen to have any. Flaying Tendrils might not be a main-board card, but it's invaluable against tokens.

One route I kind of toyed with a little that could fit the idea focuses on Tezzeret, Master of Metal as a finisher. He functions as ways to dig through your deck and has a killer -3 that is a much more elegant finisher than a big combat dude. Then anything that makes clues is even better for the deck, such as Confirm Suspicions, Jace's Scrutiny, or Press for Answers. And if you do go the clues route, Mechanized Production could be fun!
