Drownyard Explorers

Creature — Human Wizard

When Drownyard Explorers enters the battlefield, investigate. (Create a colourless Clue artifact token with ", Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.")

I would cut the Trail of Evidence Ongoing Investigation and Drownyard Explorers and add 2 more Tireless Tracker and 2 more Ulvenwald Mysteries and definitely all 4 Daring Sleuth  Flip as he is a good clue payoff.

I just finished making a clue deck, and this is what I found...

Clue-related colors are in white, blue, and green, so bant seems like the best for it. In terms of red and black cards, there are a few cards that would work nicely, but not enough to really push the deck into four colors.

I think Rafiq of the Many might be the most synergistic with Bearer of Overwhelming Truths  Flip, Briarbridge Patrol, and Ongoing Investigation, but I'm choosing to use Roon of the Hidden Realm instead to synergize with Drownyard Explorers and Thraben Inspector since Rafiq gets a lot of negative attention; Rafiq can swing out the gates really fast and clues are more for a slow game rather than a fast one.

Next, a lot of people don't like Primal Vigor, but I think it would be great here since it's basically another Parallel Lives (and hopefully Doubling Season eventually too!). Doubling clues is nice, but doubling their effects are cool too, so Alhammarret's Archive, Thought Reflection, and Rings of Brighthearth are also like auto-includes.

See more at the deck that I think would be successful in making clues work in EDH:

Take out the Drownyard Explorers and add Briarbridge Patrol instead. Briarbridge Patrol with Tamiyo's Journal means you could search for your Metalwork Colossus or any other "fattie" you would have in your deck and "cheat" it onto the field at the end of the turn Tamiyo's Journal was activated. (I suggest at the end of your opponents turn so you can attack.)

I've noticed it's pretty easy to flip Docent of Perfection  Flip by turn 6, as you'll probably have a wizard or two out by the time he's out, and you just need 1-2 spells left in hand. I've found Identity Thief to be a great card for this deck as well for flickering Reflector Mage and Drownyard Explorers, on top of stealing potential blockers.

So this definitely isn't wizard tribal anymore and Derevi isn't the general. I would use Roon as the general since you have a decent number of ETBs and he can also blink opponents' creatures. Also, for flavor purposes since this is a mystery deck and Roon is literally "of the Hidden Realm".

I would cut Darksteel Juggernaut because he doesn't let you decide to attack or keep him as a blocker and I typically don't like cards that have text that makes your decisions for you. Drownyard Explorers is not good enough for EDH. Master of Etherium isn't a good fit for the deck since you don't have a ton of artifact creatures unless you get the Tez ultimate thing going and he's almost $13 because of Affinity, save your money and play a more relevant card for the deck. Skyward Eye Prophets seems cool, especially if you can untap it a bunch, but most of the time I think you're going to be disappointed with it or it'll just get blown up in the next boardwipe. You need Archaeomancer and Mnemonic Wall for sure to help get more use out of your investigating and value non-perms. Humble the Brute is fun too but I don't think it's good enough and you should be able to investigate enough with other dudes. Do you really have all those expeditions? I think March of the Machines will end up being a dead card most of the time because you only want to play it after you've pumped you clues a bit. I'd add Marshal's Anthem for the anthem effect and the reanimation, Mirari's Wake and Mana Reflection for mana accel, Oracle of Mul Daya because it's the best, at least 3 board wipes like Wrath of God to stabilize the board since they won't hit your clues. Also, add Tamiyo, Field Researcher and Tamiyo, the Moon Sage for flavor and goodness reasons. Sun Titan is the only card I ever say is really an auto-include in white decks because it reanimates your little dudes or brings back things like fetch lands.
