Hey, my name is Jacob. I recently took a few year hiatus from MtG for personal reasons. I am currently trying to catch back up though, I love the puzzles this game presents. I am predominantly an EDH player. I enjoy helping people deck tech. I am definitely a fan of black, whenever I plan a new build, it virtually always starts as B/x. Sometimes I branch out, but not very often...and I can not play Izzet...just can't stand the playstyle. My favorite creature of all time is Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter, this is the first legendary vampire I owned, and my first introduction to vampires. I have made 3 different vampire decks, 2 for real, 1 online.

is my first vampire deck. It isn't designed to be consistent, or devastating. It is designed for fun. So feel free to offer advice, but only for fun, nothing about making it more consistent.

This is my current modern deck

I love this deck, and am currently trying to improve the consistency. I will gladly take suggestions on it as well.

My favorite EDH deck, and my best to date is

. Of course, any and all suggestions are welcome. This is one of my favorite decks to play and I'd love to make it as powerful as possible without pulling it into the realms of cEDH. Primarily here I am searching for better sacrifice outlets and self-mill effects.

Lastly, 2 quirky things:

1) I collect Swamp F

2) My favorite non-creature card of all time is Havoc Festival. Not only is the art AMAZING, the abilities of the card are insanely hilarious. Haha. If you can't tell I'm pretty laid back, for questions, tag my name in your thread or deck, or pop by my wall and say "Hey, check this out: (insert deck link here)." Always here to discuss whatever as well, philosophy, work, guns, life, video games, etc. Really anything at all. Just let me know if you need a hand.

@dingusdingo - You may think about including Mistcutter Hydra in that build, I am a huge fan of it.

@MapPsycho - Thanks! I agree. At worst is is a 3 mana draw one have a body with Tuvasa alone. Generally it's something like draw three, make an angel, buff your creatures, and have a body. It has been more than that for me. :p

Preferred playstyle is a perfectly valid reason. :p I was just curious when i didn't see many of the staples. Brew to your hearts content, that's the great thing about this game and especially this format.

So, I don't see any of the normal Nekusar cards here, and if you don't mind, could you explain why? Haha. Dictate of Kruphix, Font of Mythos, Temple Bell, Howling Mine, Teferi's Puzzle Box, Kami of the Crescent Moon, Spiteful Visions, even Anvil of Bogardan, or Forced Fruition.

Doubling up on his damage dealing effect you have some options as well...Kederekt Parasite, Underworld Dreams, Fate Unraveler, Psychosis Crawler, and Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted.

Two of these can also be coupled with the infect sub-theme. Following suit, Phyresis, Grafted Exoskeleton, and Corrupted Conscience are all valid options.

You may also consider running a few board wipes at least. Vandalblast is quite good. Cyclonic Rift is amazing if you have one, they are a little pricey. Toxic Deluge, Damnation, even things such as Crux of Fate or Decree of Pain would be better than having no way to deal with a massive board state.

Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, and Whispersilk Cloak are all excellent options for protecting Nekusar or other key pieces of your board as well. Just make sure you give him Shroud after you equip or enchant him if you're wanting to do so.

Sorry for the paragraph...this went a little longer than I wanted, but I really love Nekusar and while my deck got stolen about 2 years ago...I really am considering rebuilding him, he is an absolute blast to pilot.

@UltraMeh - Ask away, this is my pet deck and I love talking about it. :p Planeswalkers just are not very prevalent in my meta, so they really aren't a concern for me. This deck is very much tuned for my creature and artifact heavy meta. Though I do need more forms of recursion so I can utilize multiple cards each turn. That is one of this decks weaknesses, I used to run a few more...I should really take another look at those...

Sorry to leave so many comments, I keep remembering new things...haha, I am a huge fan of Stitcher's Supplier here, he comes in early and is easily recurred with Meren. Another card I am looking for is World Shaper...i think it will be insane.

I understand not wanting to pick up some cards given the costs. Haha, I bought this pre-con and have traded into and acquired the cards I have currently. None of them were this expensive when I got them a few years ago. Intent was just over a dollar, Ramunap was like $0.70. Things escalate quickly. If you have a certain budget you would like to remain within, I don't mind tuning my suggestions for you. Have you done any playtesting yet?

March 17, 2020 4:08 p.m.

I would swap out Hierarch for Ramunap Excavator that card is an absolute lifesaver when it comes to fixing and staying on curve. You might also consider trying to get a copy of Diabolic Intent i know it is pricey, but it is truly very good.

March 17, 2020 3:42 p.m.

So, to start, Noble Hierarch doesn't meet the color identity of Meren, so that is an illegal card in this particular deck. :p I will warn you, my version of Meren is different than most, many people try to utilize token generators such as From Beyond and Awakening Zone in order to pump your experience counters much more quickly. I got for value sacrificing over quantity, but ultimately that makes my list a little slower. The reason for my lack of planeswalker removal is meta based, there just are not many planeswalkers in my meta. As a rule Beast Within is ample to deal with the ones i can not swing into. What are you fetching with hulk to win?

March 17, 2020 3:37 p.m. Edited.

Grab a copy of Archetype of Endurance to ruin his day. :p Also maybe Glaring Spotlight?

@ScionsStillLive - That seems like a decent card, but I don't own one, and I'm not sure i need additional ways to add counters. Currently I'm testing to see what ratio of counter placers to beneficiaries i should run. If i need to pick up some more placers, i will definitely keep it in mind. Thank you

Also, your deck link is broken and I could not find it on your profile, just tag me in your list and I will be happy to take a look.

March 17, 2020 noon

@UltraMeh - You're welcome to steal anything you like from my setup, haha. Not bothering me in the least. I did it this way so it is easier for people to see how i intend my deck to work so they can give better suggestions. I do run removal, just the vast majority of it is stapled to the body of a creature so that I may recur it easily. Cards like Acidic Slime, Caustic Caterpillar, Ravenous Chupacabra, Fleshbag Marauder, and Merciless Executioner. I also main Beast Within because of the versatility. For the most part though, I want my answers on a body so they can be utilized multiple times easily without having to fetch them with Eternal Witness. Any other questions or concerns? :p I used to run considerably more answers in my list, but it got the point everyone in my meta assumed I would answer any threats, so I pulled a lot of them for threats of my own. Kind of a solve your own problems mentality right now so I am not being taken advantage of. :p
