Akroma's Memorial is basically unblockable.

Sun Quan, Lord of Wu is basically unblockable.

Keeper of Keys, if you're the monarch, unblockable.

Archetype of Imagination is definitely unblockable

Some thoughts:

Since your commander already gives evasion, I don't think you need both Swiftfoot Boots and Lightning Greaves.

The group decided Cyclonic Rift is banned in tier 3. I don't know what tier these decks are considered...

Burgeoning is less good the fewer lands you have in the deck. I don't think you will find it as helpful as you would want it to be. I think you have enough ramp to not need it, but if you want something that will ramp similarly to that, consider Carpet of Flowers or Utopia Sprawl.

I like Distortion Strike and Artful Dodge in more casual decks, but I think they are simply less good in commander. I think it would be better to have creatures that simply are unblockable. I do see the value of making anything (including your stand alone commander) unblockable, but only being able to do it twice isn't good enough in my mind. Aqueous Form is great! But some suggested replacements (with extra upsides) for the others are Invisible Stalker, Flitterstep Eidolon, Mercurial Spelldancer, Suspicious Stowaway  Flip, Silhana Ledgewalker, Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun, Surge Engine. I also think these cards would be better than Wu Light Cavalry, Treetop Scout, and Nettle Sentinel (not sure why this is in the deck).

I like a little bit of additional flicker magic for value, but I think Yorion, Sky Nomad and Roon of the Hidden Realm are too slow. I like Brago, King Eternal and Displacer Kitten.

Mavinda, Students' Advocate doesn't seem to fit here. It only works with instant and sorceries that are targeting creatures you control. Yes, it works with Distortion Strike, but Artful Dodge already has flashback, and it isn't good enough to include mavinda only for Cloudshift and Distortion Strike. I think it can go along with the other two.

You have 18 instances of ramp. I think this may be too much. initial cuts: Llanowar Elves, Ranger's Path, and Burgeoning. Growth Spiral is good, but I think you need to be playing 2 more lands to include. Nature's Lore and Three Visits are great, but you need more dual lands with basic land types to make those good. Otherwise, Rampant Growth is better. Other thing to consider here: If you have fewer mana rocks, the better chance that your commander's ability will help you blow up artifacts. I guess in general, you may want to try to limit the number of card types you play.

Treva's Ruins and Flood Plain seem too slow. And again, as a midrange value deck, I think you need to be playing at least 38 lands.

I think Venser, the Sojourner is better here than Sun Quan, Lord of Wu. You can make the team unblockable for one less mana, and if that isn't helpful at the time, you can flicker stuff while you wait. Ultimating is just an insane bonus.

I gotta go, but I will try to come back and offer some suggestions on other cards you should include!

Not only is Shared Animosity cheaper, but it stays on the board an provides the boost turn after turn.

I feel you are gambling a lot on Arcane Adaptation while it seems unnecessary to me. Most of your creatures are Pirates, and those that are not should generate enough value to disregard the tribal element. Chart a Course is a one-shot draw that could make room for repeated draw. This could free 2 spots for Reconnaissance Mission and a Bident of Thassa , both are better than Coastal Piracy.

I would cut Prosperous Pirates to make way for Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator ; a potential of 3 treasures per turn is better than a one-time effect for 2 treasures.

Marionette Master is a very convoluted way of attempting to benefit from your treasures, while you should actually try to hold on to them so you can trigger Mechanized Production or Revel in Riches, making it a non-bo card. I would replace it with Archetype of Imagination (or Sun Quan, Lord of Wu if you have one, or both!) which could win you the game for the same casting cost. This also replaces your Nemesis Mask, freeing a spot for something like Cover of Darkness .

Brass's Bounty and Pirate's Pillage are also one-shot deals that could make way for more stable pieces, like Inspiring Statuary , allowing you to tap your treasures for colorless mana.

I hope I am not overwhelming you with this cascade of suggestions, hopefully some of these will be helpful to you!

Teh_Mammoth When I first compiled a list of what I wanted to include in this deck, I had nearly 200 cards, and that was without any land, haha. I can see a lot of different ways to build around Anowon, the Ruin Thief. One way is to win by milling out the opponents, which my build here is capable of, but it's not my intended endgame. As such, cards like Maddening Cacophony, of which there are many, is somewhat of a dead draw for me. I'd much rather draw more rogues, stuff that steals from other people's graveyards, or the couple creatures I have that get really big when graveyards are full. Honestly, I'm questioning including Bruvac the Grandiloquent, and only included Keening Stone as an alternate wincon in case the game goes long. In other words, it's not important to me that I mill anyone's entire library, just a lot of it.

Bloodchief Ascension was one of the last cards I cut to get it down to 99, and I did so because I didn't want to cut any more creatures, and didn't want to lose any more mana rocks. I'm still thinking about that decision.

Zareth San, the Trickster really does need to be in there, I agree. The only thing I can think to cut for it, though, is Scion of Darkness, and I'm too much of a Timmy to just let that one go. Do you think I could get away with dropping one of the basic lands for it? I've run commander decks successfully with as low as 32 lands before, so going down to 34 in this deck doesn't seem too awful. It does have a higher mana curve than I'm normally comfortable with, though.

Nighthawk Scavenger is a definite maybe, because I already feel like I need more rogues in the deck (notice Corrosive Mentor in the maybe board), but while Sun Quan, Lord of Wu would be a really funny drop, most of the rogues I'm running already have sufficient evasion.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Some cards I'm looking to put into a build for this guy are:

  1. Bloodchief Ascension - Very nice for mill in general
  2. Maddening Cacophony - If we're milling people, why not try mill half of everyone at once :)
  3. Zareth San, the Trickster - Steals many goodies
  4. Disciple of Deceit - Get dead cards out of your hand and tutor for whatever you need at the same CMC
  5. Nighthawk Scavenger - Good chance at becoming a 8/3 flyer/dt/ll quite easily
  6. Sun Quan, Lord of Wu - mainly for Horsemanship memeage

Otherwise I like the look of what you're doing, mine will have many similar cards haha

Hello Commander_JAR, thank you for commenting!

I see where you are coming from with this suggestion. However, if my opponents have blockers, I won't amount to much with a few additional attackers. Also, as you noticed, I am running few lands in here and even use Mana Severance, so lands are bound to be few and far between in this deck, making Avenger of Zendikar a better fit for this deck: Zensunni Wanderers | Hazezon Tamar.

I prefer to use Finale of Devastation to fetch Sun Quan, Lord of Wu, turning all my dorks into unblockable attackers and ideally finish all my opponents at once.

Hope you enjoyed the deck, I invite you to use the Playtest feature and try it out. If you like it, don't be shy and Upvote!

Cheers
