Worrad75 on Pia-tiful Impulse Control

The deck has been through quite a few iterations. Here are the changes at a macro level:

Interaction

Get Lost: flexible, cheap removal. Maps aren't so bad to gve because we're going FAST.

Case of the Gateway Express: getting a free anthem stapled to a Doom Blade is great. Sorcery speed is a downside but well worth it

Requisition Raid: Same as the Case above, but for artifacts + enchantments. Super nice that there's only 1 pip in the cost (Commander Liara Portyr can let us cast this from exile with all 3 modes for a single white mana!)

Damage

Delney, Streetwise Lookout, Mondrak, Glory Dominus, Stridehangar Automaton: Double tokens = good. Delney has overlapping synergy with a few notable cards (Professional Face-Breaker and Grenzo, Havoc Raiser chief amoung them) and is essentially exactly what we wanted from Cursed Mirror in the initial build but WAY better. The new build has a greater diversity of tokens as well, so Mondrak isnt just here to 2x Pia. Automaton doubling Pia AND triggering off of other artifact tokens is incredible (more on that below).

Illustrious Wanderglyph, Charismatic Conqueror, Dollmaker's Shop / Porcelain Gallery: token diversity is important to this deck; it helps take heat off of our commander (who previously was the only thing producing a meaningful boardstate), and offers us another way to make tokens if our exile plan isn't fully getting off the ground. Wanderglyph buffs our thopters and the Shop tokens (both have incredible synergy with Stridehangar Automaton), Conqueror's tokens give us a bit of much needed lifegain (and synergize with the newly added Case of the Gateway Express), but the biggest add here is the Shop: measly 2 mana investment up front for some free chump blockers/Impact Tremorsfoil triggers, and a MASSIVE threat whenever you have 6 mana for the Gallery. Its comically easy to attack with a handful of thopters and have EACH of them hit for 10+ damage, especially because on attack the 3 tokens you get essentially give +3/+3. thats a free Skyhunter Strike Force every turn!

Unstable Amulet, Warleader's Call: Impact Tremorsfoil is already a fantastic card that we run. Amulet is essentially a Tremors that also draws us a card and gives us a body thanks to Pia. Warleader's Call is a Tremors stapled to a Glorious Anthem. The passive burn damage with continue until morale improves!

Cards

Connecting the Dots: This seemingly innocuous card is an example of 'layering' at its finest. This deck's ability to build a boardstate is impressive, but it isn't the best at protecting it (using impulse draw as your primary advantage engine makes cards like the now-removed Boros Charmfoil worse than they normally are, as you usually can't use them at the perfect time, and your opponents will see it coming). On top of that, you are usually "spending" the cards in your hand to exile cards from your deck; its not uncommon for this deck to impulse draw 3+ cards a turn while also only having <=3 cards actually in hand. Similar to Skullclamp, CtD allows you to convert your boardstate back into card advantage, but this time its 'delayed' and doesn't require continuous mana investment or for you to get rid of your creatures. Its not uncommon to swing out after playing this, get board-wiped on someone else's turn, only to crack this right before you untap and essentially draw 10+ cards to rebuild with. Low initial mana investment for a huge upside swing that refills the only resource we often get low on; cards in our actual hand.

Nice to see another Alela list and good job keeping your avg mana cost low. I have some suggestions for you and I'll try to break it down by category and keep things budget friendly. If you're picking up what I'm putting down and need help with suggested cuts, just holler.

CARD DRAW:

Breena, the Demagogue is amazing here. It incentivizes opponents to attack one another for card draw while your creatures get the +1+1 counters and you get the draw/counters twice for attacking the 2 opponents with higher life.

Starscream, Power Hungry  Flip brings the Monarch mechanic into the game which will draw you an extra card at your end step but you'll also smack an opponent for 2 for every card you draw while you're the Monarch.

Plumb the Forbidden in response to a boardwipe ensures you have a grip full of cards to redeploy. Instant speed and pseudo dodging counterspells makes this card.

Reconnaissance Mission/Bident of Thassa/The Indomitable/Coastal Piracy - I personally run 3 of these effects... they will draw you a ton of cards.

CREATURE BUFFS:

Skyhunter Strike Force will buff all your attackers +3+3 just for attacking all 3 opponents. Bonus points for not needing to attack itself.

Nykthos Paragon because your commander is an evasive lifelinker and this guy is an enchantment. The low bar here is you hit for 2 with Alela and everyone gets 2x +1+1 counters, then 4 the next turn, then 8, and that's assuming Alela only had 2 power to start.

Felidar Retreat is another go-wide counters effect that works wonders here.

MISC.:

Fanatical Devotion let's you sac tokens to save your actual creatures.

Crow_Umbra on A Plane of Knights & Dragons

No prob! I figured the Fallout knights might be a bit more "off theme" based off their appearances more than anything.

If you swap out some dragons, one of those slots could maybe go to Shanid, Sleepers' Scourge, and some of those other dragon slots could go to other Legendary Knights that are on-color, and would be supported by Shanid's Menace anthem and draw. Some of them are kinda specific, but others are a bit more generically good:

  • Inti, Seneschal of the Sun - An interesting draw piece that creates impulse draw whenever you discard

  • Adeline, Resplendent Cathar - She's a bit pricier, but with good reason. She can hang back while you attack with other creatures and she spits out tokens to quickly build up board presence.

  • Skyhunter Strike Force - Not a legend from the link above, but still a great card. Essentially a mini Adriana, Captain of the Guard.

  • Eowyn, Fearless Knight - Removal on a stick that gives your Legendary creatures protection from the colors of the creature she exiles.

  • Tori D'Avenant, Fury Rider - She gives some pseudo-Vigilance, trample, and +1/+1 antheming when she attacks.

  • Adriana, Captain of the Guard - Another keyword anthem that can get you up to +3/+3 on your team if you swing at everyone.

Last_Laugh and Crow_Umbra I got some updates on my deck but looking forward to upgrade it more. Might consider the following in the long run:

Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser Skyhunter Strike Force Firemane Commando Take the Bait Breena, the Demagogue Hanweir Garrison  Meld Hanweir Battlements  Meld

With most of the goad materials that I'm adding, the deck will be shifting towards a balance between offense and defense and with more card draw.

Hoarding Ogre, Djeru and Hazoret, and Hellrider since it only hits one opponent are what I'd cut personally.

I'd also swap Adriana, Captain of the Guard for Skyhunter Strike Force. Same effect but 2 less mana and on an evasive creature.

Ok, I have several suggestions for you. I'll try to break it down by category and keep it budget friendly.

Card Draw (load up on this effect, it's one of the decks biggest strengths): Aerial Extortionist doubles as annoying removal while drawing cards. Breena, the Demagogue draws cards and beefs up your dudes quick. Starscream, Power Hungry  Flip because the monarchy is pretty easy to take back and hold here and he's an artifact so he comes with a buddy. Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor is an anthem effect for faeries that draws cards. Bident of Thassa/Reconnaissance Mission will draw a LOT of cards here. Plumb the Forbidden I typically use in response to boardwipes so I have a grip full of cards to redeploy. Tocasia's Welcome is self explanatory. Robe of the Archmagi since Alela is a warlock.

Buffs/Counters: Anduril, Narsil Reforged's 2x +1+1 counters on everyone is nuts here. Skyhunter Strike Force will give everyone +3+3 just for attacking all 3 opponents. Nykthos Paragon is conveniently an enchantment and Alelas has lifelink built in (this thing is deceptively disgusting here). Flowering of the White Tree is another good anthem effect here.

Vault of the Archangel is expensive to activate but you typically don't need to. This affects combat in your favor just with the unspoken threat of potential activation. Hold up mana, be committed to using it if needed, and cast stuff on your 2nd main if you didn't activate it.

Crow_Umbra on Isshin Mardu Tap and Win

Overall very solid deck. My only recommendations would be to cut your Dragon Engine and Samurai that aren't Isshin, and to slot in Dolmen Gate to help round out the board protection suite you have with Iroas, Reconnaissance, & Teferi's Protection. The Samurai, although flavorful, are your only cards that care about single attacking Warriors/Samurai, while most of your deck wants to go wide.

Some of the following could be potential creature slot replacements:

I hope these suggestions are helpful. Down to chat through more if you're interested. Best of luck

I'd personally add more ways to beef up your go-wide army. Flowering of the White Tree, Favorable Winds, Akroma's Will, Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor, Anduril, Narsil Reforged, Felidar Retreat, Cathars' Crusade, Skyhunter Strike Force, and Moonshaker Cavalry all come to mind.
