Dark Deal and Unmarked Grave look fantastic! I'll have to see what I could swap them in for. I had considered Blood Pet, as I have a fair few of those around. But regen for a blocker (at least in my limited playtesting) seemed to be more practical, as I've actually not had a mana starved game in 5 or 6 runs now. I did swap out Arcane Signet for Nyx Lotus, as I feel that the extra 2 mana cost is worth the trade off in a mono deck like this. I also swapped the Ghost Quarter for a Myriad Landscape, as I also feel that the potential for using its sacrifice is more likely to come into play than me destroying a land, at least in most scenarios. Other updates I went ahead and made with the cards I already have are removing Dredge and Malefic Scythe and tossing in Maggot Carrier as well as Heirloom Mirror  Flip. That last one I'm not as certain about, so I'm considering taking it out in place of something else. Unmarked Grave is for sure top of the list to add soon.

hungry000 on Decks for new players

Alright, I finished a few decks over the last couple hours or so.

Humans: $15 Humans (Elite Inquisitors are for some spicy Vampire/Werewolf/Zombie hate)

Vampires: $15 Madness Vampires (Stromkirk Noble in place of Vampire Lacerator/Indulgent Aristocrat can be cool against the humans deck)

Here's a bonus Kor equipment deck I made for fun a while ago but never posted on tappedout: $15 Kor Equipment

I tried to make a decent zombies deck that fit within the budget but it's such a popular tribe that all the semi-good cards are over $1 each, which made it nigh impossible to make something good. If you're fine with pauper decks though, here's a zombie deck I made in that format: Suicide is occasionally the answer. It's like 10 bucks without the sideboard and can hold up pretty well against other non-competitive modern decks (and is really fun in multiplayer with Shepherd of Rot heheh).

If you don't mind using non-pauper legal cards, I suggest you make these edits:

The last two add $8ish to the price tag but with them the deck becomes more competitive and easier to play. That said, managing your life total is pretty fun if you enjoy a challenge, and chaining together Maggot Carriers with Ghoulcaller's Chant to hit the opponent for the last few points of damage is pretty satisfying. Do what you want with it.

Will be trying this deck with Maggot Carrier instead of Duress . I usually play with multiple people, not only just 1v1 and it will effect EVERY opponent.

Snap157 on Rakdos; Burn It Down

Alrighty then let's get you all set!

You've got some big things and that's not bad with your commander, but you'll need some cheaper burn spells if Rakdos can really work. With that being said, Lightning Bolt, Lava Spike, Bump in the Night, and Rift Bolt are your best friends. As for land base, try to shy away from basics, but add in as many rakdos duals that don't come in tapped as possible. I'll get you started down below.

While using rakdos, keep in mind that he takes away only colorless mana, so huge eldrazi such as Void Winnower, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, Pathrazer of Ulamog, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Desolation Twin and It That Betrays can all go out for free if you play it right.

It's also important to keep in mind that the ability only impacts creatures, so super expensive things like Din of the Fireherd, Subterranean Tremors don't belong.

Furthermore, there are some cards that don't work too well in an aggro build like this and could use an upgrade. Take out:

replace with:

With these changes as well as the ones mentioned above, you'll be well on your way to a hated deck! Good luck!

Considering you're an Aluren cpmbo deck you could consider looking at past legacy/vintage lists.

They previously ran Parasitic Strix + Cavern Harpy or Maggot Carrier + Essence Warden + Cavern Harpy as their win conditions.

Raven Familiar and Sea Gate Oracle help you dig towards win cons and combo well with Cavern Harpy

I like seeing the a legacy deck inspiring a commander deck...but it makes me sad that you're going off of more recent versions of aluren rather that the ORIGINAL lists... or pieces in between.

The first iterations of this deck killed with Soul Warden and Maggot Carrier and Cavern Harpy and usually found combo pieces by bouncing Raven Familiar. Augury Owl could be semi-helpful though you wouldn't get the draw immediately by itself after scrying 1/2 your deck. I see the scion/blood artist route working well, but think you could find room for 1 soul sister and a Maggot Carrier at least.

I agree with EpicFreddi's idea about Omniscience. While casting this with your current mana base, or durdling while trying to get Tamiyo, Field Researcher ult'ed maybe difficult, you DO need a back-up plan to Aluren aside from an Eternal Witness and a Sterling Grove to recur/protect it. While you certainly have enough tutors to grab Aluren, if someone exiles it, you're screwed. If not Omniscience and or Tamiyo perhaps 3 or so pieces of countermagic? or maybe even a Riftsweeper?
