Emblem of the Warmind Discussion

redundancy is important, and i do like the curve of first turn Mass Hysteria , second turn Blind Obedience , its definitely got my friends giving me annoyed looks. I, personally, would not run Emblem of the Warmind , while it is low costed, an aura is a little more fragile than a strait up enchantment. At least a Fervor wont abandon you to a board wipe T_T.

Depending on your deck and how many slots you have open, redundancy is important if want an effect to go off. If haste-y aggro and slowing your opponent is the main strat of your deck, I could see running all the cards you mentioned. Mass Hysteria > Emblem of the Warmind IF Authority of the Consuls or Blind Obedience is out. Otherwise, I'd take emblem of the warmind since it won't help your opponent. Likewise, Blind Obedience is probably better in a vacuum since it also hits artifacts (slowing down their rocks and the like) while also giving you extort to sink mana into if need be. Both those cards are 2-drops though, but I personally think the extra mana is worth it. Though, if you have a lot of triggers for "when you gain life" authority of the consuls might be better to get all those triggers.

I am currently tweaking my Edgar Markov all out aggro and I was considering adding haste effects in low cmc cards like Mass Hysteria or Emblem of the Warmind when I remembered about enter tapped effects from cards like Authority of the Consuls and Blind Obedience . I am looking for any input about which effect is better for aggressive decks, or experiences have had with these cards.

Thanks for any responses

Goblins are so much fun. Some advice: Use Goblin Chieftain in the place of Emblem of the Warmind, getting another body and giving the goblins +1/+1 is priceless! Also, Goblin Grenades are phenomenal! Finally a great finisher is Relentless Assault!

Caerwyn on Hydras are Rediculous

Add Lightning Greaves in addition to Swiftfoot Boots. Hydras are a fairly fun tribe, but they are far too susceptable to removal.

Since you have fairly significant ramp, you can run Akroma's Memorial. It's expensive to cast, but it can end games alongside a powerful hydra or two. (Tangentially related, but interesting etymological sidebar, the Oxford English Dictionary, the premier reference guide to the English language, lists no official plural version of the word "hydra." Because there merely was "the Hydra" in ancient use, there is not an officially "correct" method. Further research shows that "hydras", "hydra", and "hydr" are all used fairly interchangeably, with no real consensus.)

Concordant Crossroads, Emblem of the Warmind, Fires of Yavimaya, and Fervor are all nifty as they give your creatures haste. Fires of Yavimaya would probably be my choice, since it can be used for both haste and a combat trick if needed. That said, the other's each have their own advantages (mana cost for Crossroads and Emblem; not needing two colours of mana for Fervor), hence my inclusion.

Caerwyn on On the Backs of Angels

While he is not an angel by any means, and he has a bit of a high converted mana cost, Heartless Hidetsugu might be an interesting card to consider, as he can very quickly ensure your Commander is powered up and indestructible.

Otherwise, perhaps add some enchantments that give your creatures haste? You have a number of fairly high-costed creatures--casting your major damage-dealers later in the game, and then having to wait a turn before they can attack is a bit problematic. Emblem of the Warmind is a weird little card that is subject to creature removal, but has a pretty low converted mana cost. Fervor is the least expensive true enchantment with this ability.

You mean Dromoka is too expensive, cuz he's 3$? Also I saw why you had Kolaghan right after I posted that comment.

Consider Fervor, Akroma's Memorial as a finisher, Concordant Crossroads, Fires of Yavimaya, Emblem of the Warmind, Hammer of Purphoros, Lightning Greaves, Mass Hysteria, Sarkhan Vol, Swiftfoot Boots as 1,000 ways to enable haste.

Briandhoffmann the reason I suggested it is because Emblem of the Warmind gives all creatures not target creature like Expedite so that's the benefit of it especially if you have 2 or 3 burning trees in your hand haha but that's why I recommended it
