Kaya, Geist Hunter

Legendary Planeswalker — Kaya

+1: Creatures you control gain deathtouch until end of turn. Put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target creature token you control.

-2: Until end of turn, if one or more tokens would be created under your control, twice that many of of those tokens are created instead.

-6: Exile all cards from all graveyards, then create a 1/1 white Spirit creature token with flying for each card exiled this way.

Cryptolith Rite, Nature's Will, Druids' Repository, and [Bear Umbra] will give repeatable combats. Nature's Will is a bit expensive, so keep Song of Freyalise instead. You can remove Battle for Bretagard, Goblin War Drums, and Mask of Avacyn to use the other three enchantments if repeatable combats is your goal. Otherwise, here are some other great additions:

Cathars' Crusade will make HUGE creatures very quickly. Brave the Sands gives the vigilance needed to take advantage of Cryptolith Rite or have blockers. Impact Tremors will cause lots of pain over time. Raiders' Spoils card draw on steroids. Something you are SORELY lacking.

Kaya, Geist Hunter a great addition that will mostly be used for her -2 ability. Rhythm of the Wild is a good card to be replaced since most of your creatures will be tokens, anyways. If you don't go with Kaya, Cathars' Crusade would probably be a better replacement for Rhythm of the Wild.

Trollbred Guardian and Hamza, Guardian of Arashin requires +1/+1 counters but you don't have very many +1/+1 counters in the deck to take advantage of this. You can remove them and instead use Mindblade Render and Oakhame Adversary for card draw. You need card draw.

Replace Mardu Shadowspear with Brutal Hordechief

Usher of the Fallen and Imperious Perfect are fairly underwhelming. Imperious Perfect is a little better, but I'd at least replace Usher of the Fallen with Rhys the Redeemed. Honestly, I'd use Ogre Battledriver over Imperious Perfect.

Rubblebelt Raiders is nice, but Champion of Lambholt will make your creatures unlockable just as fast.

Tuya Bearclaw and Hamletback Goliath get big, but they can be chumped VERY easily. Lovisa Coldeyes will buff all your tokens that are harder to chump. You could maybe keep the Hamletback Giant, but Zurgo Helmsmasher or Samut, Voice of Dissent is a good choice in your deck if you decide not to.

Blaring Captain and Blaring Recruiter are also very underwhelming. Chief of the Edge can easily replace the captain, and the recruit can be replaced be literally anything (my vote would be for Impact Tremors if you haven't added it already).

You have A LOT of mana ramp in your deck, but your lacking card draw and removal. I'd maybe remove the Diamonds and add two or three mana rocks that tap for one of any color. That'll give your deck 10-11 forms of mana ramp. If you add three, that'll give room for two forms of card draw. Reconnaissance Mission, Bident of Thassa, Skullclamp, and Vanquisher's Banner are great options.

Instead of Fracture, I recommend Despark. Mortify is a better Murder but can also be upgraded by switching to Utter End.

Replace Warped Landscape with Secluded Courtyard.

Be aware that you're sitting at only 30 lands. If you find your have a mana-base problem, I'd take out Radha, Heir to Keld, Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip, or ANY of the previously discussed cards and add 3-5 lands. Out of the lands you should also add, I recommend Savage Lands, Arcane Sanctum, Crumbling Necropolis, Jungle Shrine, Nomad Outpost, Mystic Monastery, Path of Ancestry, and Unclaimed Territory.

Ao, the Dawn Sky and Junji, the Midnight Sky both seem perfect for a Teysa deck. Maybe Kaya, Geist Hunter depending on how much you rely on token generation. Lolth, Spider Queen and Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools are both insane in any aristocrats kind of deck. Prowling Geistcatcher might also be worth a look.

Thalisse, Reverent Medium could make stupid amounts of tokens thanks to her own effect with the possibility of Anointed Procession and Kaya, Geist Hunter.

Chatterfang, Squirrel General could do the same thing but in different colors. Would have access to Parallel Lives and self-mill effects to load up your graveyard.

Sarulf, Realm Eater could be some sort of voltron thing as he gets counters whenever opponents permanents get put in the graveyard (which tokens do). The partner commander Sengir, the Dark Baron does something similar and could be paired with something like Prava of the Steel Legion to double down on the token theme.

Kardur, Doomscourge, Thantis, the Warweaver and the partner pairing of Kamber, the Plunderer/Laurine, the Diversion are all about giving creatures to opponents and benefitting from them dying or attacking someone else. Akroan Horse and Genesis Chamber are more examples of giving other players ammunition. Syr Konrad, the Grim also loves seeing opponents creatures dying.

Tombstone Stairwell is such a cool card. I wish I picked one up before it spiked. :(

I agree on Tayam being best in the CZ and why he was never added to the deck before, but his use here would not be to enable combos but to retrieve Earthcraft and Altars from the graveyard. And because I already run Devoted Druid it would be easy enough to do the Tayam combo if opportunity strikes. But again it’s something I’m contemplating and haven’t settled on yet.

Kaya, Geist Hunter only doubles tokens not counters so is more like a Parallel Lives. For what she does I think I’d rather just use Chatterfang. She’s an option if you want that effect, though. I’d still say Illusionist's Bracers is the best budget doubling effect for Ghave.

kirbysan Eloniel esperdeathblade Halestor19 Sorry for the late response! I should have the crimson vow update coming soon. For my thoughts on the cards you mentioned, Kaya, Geist Hunter is a bit win-more. Her +1 isn't useful, and her -2 is slow to use repeatedly. I'd run Anointed Procession over her if you want this effect. However, tokens aren't the main strategy of the deck, and she doesn't actually produce any on her own.

Morbid Opportunist and Welcoming Vampire, like Kirbysan said, don't have as high a ceiling as our current draw pool. It's nice they trigger off of tokens, but only drawing one card per turn is a bit slow compared to our other cards. They're great budget options to replace any pricy card draw though.

Haunted Library, being something we can't trigger ourselves, doesn't synergize much with the rest of the deck. It's nice in slow, grindy situations, but we'd prefer creatures we can sac immediately.

Shattered Sanctum is a fine budget replacement for any of our current lands, but we don't actually need more duals, especially some that conditionally enter tapped. The only land we have that can enter tapped is Fabled Passage and that's because it can generate value with Brought Back et al. With the amount of fetches we have, color consistency isn't a problem. I also wouldn't replace a basic with it, since we need our basics for Land Tax, Keeper of the Accord, etc.

Storm of Souls is the best card we're getting with this set. It does everything we want in a mass reanimation spell, and funnily enough, them turning to 1/1s is somewhat of an upside for Skullclamp reasons. However, I wouldn't replace Agadeem's Awakening  Flip for it. Awakening is played in a land slot since it's essentially a swamp with a small life tax that doubles as a huge reanimation spell. Not that I will, but I would replace a swamp over awakening any time. It's one of our best lands. I'm probably going to replace Command the Dreadhorde because we care more about reanimating our whole graveyard for no life than having the option to reanimate opponents' creatures. While we could play both, they fill the same niche, and we have tutors for when we really need this effect.

Persistent Specimen has a lot of potential. I'm on the fence about it. On the one hand, it's good redundancy for when our Reassembling Skeleton is lost or when we need to draw either. On the other hand, we have so many tutors that I'm not sure how much more we gain by running two of these. By costing 3 to reanimate, it requires an extra source of mana generation to go infinite, so I'm going to bench it for now.

Thanks for being patient and keeping up the discussion! I'll get the update out soon.

KBK7101 I think my favorite art is a tie between Shadrix and Velomachus, they both look really good! It's always rough trying to run politics when one of your opponents just refuses to play ball, I have a player in my group that tends to be a wildcard as well so I have to run the deck a bit differently in those match-ups. Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker is an interesting card, I hadn't seen that one before! And Kaya, Geist Hunter was definitely one of the ones I was keeping my eye on and intend to grab for some testing!

Shadrix was probably the one I was the most excited for out of the five Strixhaven dragons. I love the art for both versions of his card. Political decks always intrigue me, but I usually play with my two brothers. One of which does NOT do politics, so they always seem to fall a bit flat for me. :\

I'd definitely recommend Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker as a great deterrent. The newly released Kaya, Geist Hunter has a Anointed Procession ability which would work great with the tokens you want to make, too!

Personally I'm picking up the following from Crimson Vow: Shattered Sanctum, Kaya, Geist Hunter, Persistent Specimen, Storm of Souls. Not sure about the swaps yet though but I think Storm of Souls could replace Agadeem's Awakening  Flip. I've never used Agadeem's flipside for a land, it grabs everything from your graveyard, also makes them all Skullclamp targets and since we have no way to recur sorceries, it exiling itself doesn't matter much to us. I want to find a place for Kaya, Geist Hunter simply for the -2 ability since it's a cheap token doubler but no idea who to swap her out for.
