Commander for a Mono White Enchanters Deck?

Commander Deck Help forum

Hey all.

I was just wondering who would be the best commander for a Mono-White enchanter deck and what some staples would be. I'm doing a challenge where I build one deck of every mono-color and decided to go in WUBRG order. So to start with white I thought of enchantress.

Okay okay there is only one actually enchantress in white (I plan to get her) but it's still an enchantments deck. Lemme run over a list of commanders I've thought of so far:

Heliod, God of the Sun: An enchant himself he obviously deserves consideration. I just don't know how I feel about him as a general. The devotion should be easy to turn on with all the enchantments, but he's honestly feeling kinda lackluster to me... I could be wrong though.

Eight-and-a-Half-Tails: my current leader in options, Tails here gives us protection for our enchantments and can be a good win con making a voltron Control kinda commander.

Cho-Manno, Revolutionary: cute interaction with Pariah but not much else. Maybe a voltron general?

Sram, Senior Artificer: another idea is to go straight voltron with sram at the helm.

Thanks for reading and for help!

p.s: Please try and keep suggestions budget, I'm trying to make 5 decks here and I'm not made of money haha.

You would likely be better off with white equipment but for white enchants here are some good ones:

Sram, Senior Edificer his text includes auras and draw is really nice.

Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant turns into an enchant.

Heliod, God of the Sun his rec page is very enchant heavy too, https://edhrec.com/commanders/heliod-god-of-the-sun

Mageta the Lion i mention him in case you go few to no creatures.

These are all powerful: Greater Auramancy, Endless Horizons, Test of Endurance, Sigarda's Aid, True Conviction, Cathars' Crusade

Thanks for the comment. I know equiptment may be better but my brother already uses the white Precon frequently for our casual games. I don't wanna intrude in him.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definently add Sram to the list and check him out.

Personally I like Heliod, God of the Sun the best after lots of testing. He has everything you need for mono white, he is resilient and the interaction with Skybind is awesome. The tokens are expensive but Anointed Procession helps and they give draw with Skullclamp. I will warn you that the deck is expensive though.

Sram, Senior Edificer is a really great way to go on a budget though because you won't have to shell out for Land Tax/Scroll Rack, Mind's Eye, Endless Horizons etc which are really needed in most mono white decks so you don't run out of gas.

@dlamars

Hm okay. The only thing about sram is that he's kinda voltron which I already have. Would Heliod go wider?

Or would it be possible to have a kinda pillow fort control deck?

What about Odric, Lunarch Marshal? Gives all of your stuff the benefits of the Enchantments in combat.

Kaneki___Ken you definitely don't have to go voltron with sram, the extra draw is just valuable in mono white even if it is every couple turns. I'd say Flickering Ward and Skullclamp are a good place to start. If you want to go with something unique a pillow fort build around cards like Cage of Hands, Cessation, Pacifism etc would be neat. Could use Eidolon of Countless Battles and Ethereal Armor for the win maybe?

I have done this already with great effect running Thalia, Heretic Cathar. Most white enchantments carry brutal control options that rival if not over power blue control in the commander metas I have seen. Ghostly Prison, Sphere of Safety, Solemnity, Spirit Mantle, Land Tax, Martyr's Bond, Opalescence, Aura of Silence, Parallax Wave, Worship, Seal of Cleansing, Idyllic Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, Academy Rector, Replenish, and I could go on.

I'd go with Sram. Once you add Mesa Enchantress, Puresteel Paladin, and Kor Spiritdancer the card draw can get a bit crazy.

As previously mentioned, Auras like Flickering Ward, Shackles, or Conviction that you can bounce to your hand for more draw power truly boost the deck.

You can make the deck pretty cheap, adding money just gets you better equipment, auras, and creatures.
