bushido_man96 Thank you.

Maelstrom_Artificer Thanks. Phyrexian Altar is one I'll have to keep an eye open for or wait for a little extra money to come my way. As for tutors I'd normally run 3-4 in a deck but I want to play a bit without, just a little experiment. Definitely a good idea and really ups consistency.

FoxInSox14 Thank you. I don't mind playing against infect. After all I do run infinite combos... I just can't bring myself to use it. It is a good idea and I'll make a section specifically to address infect and wither.

dan8080 leovold does his lock turn 5 or sooner. iona is much harder to hard cast and only stops a single color, yes you can drop her out turn one if you get the right hand but still much easier to do leovold lock. there are also more easily available answers for iona even in mono-color decks but then i'm of the opinion that there shouldnt be a ban list. there should be a list that states "these commanders are cruel or broken and we advise against playing them" but no ban list.

Mass Calcify works if white isn't too common at your table, will still hurt you a bit but not near as bad as Wrath of God. Austere Command a bit $ but useful. Mageta the Lion he lives through it, if you give him vigilance you can attack then wipe before blocks. I'll try to come up with some other things later.

Fecundity is a good hug card and more card draw is always nice. I see a distinct lack of ways to handle an overwhelming board. It would be nice not to need to board wipe but I'd recommend having ~4 in a hug deck. You are helping your opponents and you want a chance at winning so it'd be nice to set people back easily.

LotharM0H Fevered Convulsions will be a solid choice for the deck, especially given the limited amount of options for instant speed targeted negative counter production. If you throw in things like Black Market and Crypt Ghast you will likely have an abundance of mana when those are out.

#8 is helpful. not the end all be all of what you should run but gives a nice start to many decks. here is his page

I have a heavier focus on negative counters but I like your snake focus. Mine if curious Mistress of Poisons. I just watched you deck tech and wanted to point out you do have at least one infinite combo, Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons + Blowfly Infestation + 2 1/1s. This allows you to infinitely set off hapatra by killing 1 1/1 and getting another. Obviously need Parallel Lives, Zulaport Cutthroat, or something to abuse the interaction. I also think Doubling Season will generally be more painful then helpful with the negative counters but Concordant Crossroads is very strong for when you pop out 10 snakes after Black Sun's Zenith or if you were to use Midnight Banshee.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I've decided to go with Norin for now. Too many chaotic cards in red that I want to play for me to include a second or third color...

April 21, 2017 3:54 p.m.

the sword should be an overperformer in your deck. I'd slap it on stuff with an etb or ltb effect when possible but even when it isnt possible that sword is retarded.

April 20, 2017 10:42 p.m.

why not just put vigilance on him instead?

Just to be clear you are saying equip brion with the sword and the staff. the sword would make tokens of brion when you attack with brion, the tokens are legendary and so as a statebased effect you have to kill all but one of the brions, which then untaps the equipped brion because of the staff.

Did you mean to say equip some other creature with the sword? In that case it is really good for your deck, definitely find a spot for it. tons of tokens to sac and fling then.

Well things that come to my mind for child are:

Reanimator: child needs to hit the grave to blow up the world so things that bring stuff out of the grave would be good.

Grave Shenanigans: slightly different from above in that you focus more on Grave Pact and Zulaport Cutthroat effects. I also find Grave Pact effects are great for control and allow you to hit the opponent with ease.

Group-Slug: doesn't win much but is funny. acts a lot like chaos but doesn't necessarily have chaos effects might have a lot of everybody draws effects and loses 1 life for each drawn card or something similar.

5-color control: this is very broad so I don't really have anything to say here...

Combo: board wipes are a great thing to have go off right before you play your combo and win so child makes combo easier.

Pillow Fort: child is a great rattle snake and you have access to all colors so you can pick the best rattles and pillows in the game. Engulfing Slagwurm, Price of Glory, Ghostly Prison, etc.

No tribal so basically Cromat, Progenitus and Child of Alara.

I've always been fond of cromat for voltron. Get a lot of mana or infinite mana and swing in for the win. As long as you have the needed mana it is very hard to get rid of cromat too. Just build a 5-color control around him to protect yourself until the combo goes off or you can at least dump in a lot of mana. progenitus can work in a similar fashion but is harder to cast and not as interesting to me.

child is less build around me and more of a you dont need to run board wipes any more or not as many.

Chaos is a good 5-color strategy. Load up on Hive Mind and other silly things but games go long if you dont control what effects you are using and manage to stay alive.

Honestly I've always found that it is better to choose a strategy and then choose the colors rather then the other way. You can do anything with 5 colors, like build a nekusar deck that uses hug cards from green and protection from white.

chaosumbreon87 I'm the archenemy most of the time anyways... I tried powering my stuff down so most the lists on here are meh but I'm in the process of reversing that. Mishra would be funny but when working is a bit more oppressive than I like. Mogis is a solid choice, hard to remove, gets me Havoc Festival, might do that.

I've decided against Marchesa at least for now as I have a Hapatra deck that needs testing and is using my black +1/+1 counter cards.

Jhoria seems really awesome and can include norin in the 99 where he accomplishes the same task as when he commands.

April 20, 2017 2:16 p.m.

This is a really cool version. A few things worth considering though are Concordant Crossroads, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Blood Artist. I wouldn't bother with Evolving Wilds or Terramorphic Expanse with just two colors but maybe you have a good reason in your meta, seems like it'd be better to just have another forest and swamp. My version Mistress of Poisons if you are interested, I left out infect as my group is pretty casual and still has a few new to the game types. I see Doubling Season in your maybe board which I wuold think of as a nonbo for this deck, too many negatives on your own stuff already to try and control it. Parallel Lives would be much better and easier on the wallet.

So making a Group-Slug Chaos deck but having difficulty deciding on the commander. Currently stuck between the following:

Norin the Wary- out fast, easy manabase, keeps funny things like Confusion in the Ranks going.

Jhoira of the Ghitu- still a simple manabase, no mana curve, easily use the big dumb chaos cards as they tend to be mana intensive and she doesn't care.

Marchesa, the Black Rose- I see this as a better norin, most difficult manabase but it still isnt 5 colors at least, I'm already using some of the things I'd want in here in another deck, largest selection of fun things to use, easily recover from any board wipe, just plain powerful.

I've considered a lot of others as well but feel free to throw more at me. If your curious about other things I'm considering here is some of what I'm looking at You Go Boom, I Go Boom, We All Go Boom!

April 19, 2017 7:49 p.m.

MoGoose831 Thank you. I'm expecting the deck to be really good at removing creatures with all the negative counters but it would be nice to make people sac their giant creatures, a 10/10 will take awhile to negative to death...

April 18, 2017 4:43 p.m.

MoGoose831 if you could please leave some semi-useful comment on my deck as per the forum rules I'd appreciate that.

Said on You're fucked.......

good title for slivers. If you get Sliver Queen you could drop almost anything for her. I like Door of Destinies more than Coat of Arms, could run both though. Do you have mana issues? If not my decks run about 35 lands and I don't have issues anymore often then most people. That opens 4 slots or so. But honestly if you are undefeated with this then it is your opponents that need help not you :P.
