First they laugh... Then it dawns on them...

Found Another Great Addition, But Dont Know How To Add. See End At "Help"
W/B Enchantment Direct Life-loss
To make it clear, Strionic Resonator is one of the most amazing underrated cards for Heroic//Inspired and especially Auras! First of all, auras in this deck all cost 1 less because of
Hero of Iroas
. And then for 2 extra mana you get any of these 10 benefits, so imagine mid-end games when you have 2x Strionic Resonator and extra 4 mana out!
Hero of Iroas
now gets 2x +1/+1 counters
Chosen by Heliod
draws 2 cards for 3 mana and gives +2 tougness if you have a
Hero of Iroas
out. Plus
Hero of Iroas
grows +1/+1 if cast on him, which means good luck trying to red burn spell him. So
Hero of Iroas
drops all aura cost by 1, and you just drew 2 cards that most likely will be auras... I mean c'mon, that's some amazing stuff right there.
Spiteful Returned
deals 4 direct damage when creature attacks. Plus if it is bestowed on a
Hero of Iroas
, you can double his counters while paying 1 mana less to besow from his ability.
Soul Tithe
now forces your opponent to pay DOUBLE X mana
Dying Wish
DOUBLES X life lost and gained. Yes please kill my jacked up
Hero of Iroas
... Cant you see he is taunting you?
Stab Wound
now deals 4 damage
Obzedat, Ghost Council
... Just yeah, 4 damage each time he enters the battlieflied? 6 damage with 2x Strionic Resonator? And is resistant to Merciless Eviction and Supreme Verdict? TOTALLY!
Fate Unraveler
when added from sideboard against control now deals 2 damage to opponents per card drawn. Hehe, Sphinx's Revelation ahead my pretty, I dare you. ((This has been removed from SB for Elspeth, Sun's Champion to better deal with blood baron and combos well with Sphere of Safety
Contaminated Ground deals 4 damage direct! Plus if they have heavy control without much creatures such as in Esper Control, then resolving even 1 early on can be a pain in the ass for them.
Sinister Possession just like
Stab Wound
now deals 4 damage when they decide to attack. Again, great for aggro decks, and doesnt need the mana reduction that
Hero of Iroas
provides.
And the cherry on the cake,
Auramancer
brings it all back to your hand... 2x or more...
AztecMagic commented on another one of my decks by suggesting Sphere of Safety to prevent backswing. I think this is a brilliant idea against token based Meta. This deck doesnt really need Erebos, God of the Dead, but all those cheap black aura's do add to your devotion. grin
As Quadsimotto pointed out, erebod, god of the dead can be useful against lifegain decks. Plus Spirit of the Labyrinth makes a cheap way to cast and slow down draw decks. So know your Meta and adjust quantities of cards in this deck accordingly.
EldestDragonHighlander mentioned that Esper Control is being run a lot now and original deck would completely flop against it. Therefore a lot of the current additions such as Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Hero's Downfall, and Pithing Needle have been added upon his suggestion. I also feel the current style would really help put pressure on control decks.
Upon Zikkeryzak's comment, I have added 3x revoke existence to sideboard to counter Pithing Needle. This can also be a good addition against
Herald of Torment
and Nighthowler. In the SB this replaced the 3x Contaminated Ground
Other Ideas Worth Mentioning
Was originally going to run Mogis, God of Slaughter in here too, though ontop of needing to splash a 3rd color, only needing 5 devotion can really help get Erebos, God of the Dead creature status. However, because of the really good draw generator from
Chosen by Heliod
and Strionic Resonator, I honestly may add him if it playtests well. Let me know if anyone goes this route! I personally would recommend removing 4 Plains and 4 Swamp to run 2x
Temple of Malice
, 2x
Temple of Triumph
, 2x Sacred Foundry, 2x Blood Crypt. The Temples' scry can come in handy with
Chosen by Heliod
loop, however you dont want to only draw tapped on entry lands.
As suggested by mr_spooner, Hidden Strings and untaps can be a great addition to this deck and then Crypt Ghast can help get you the extra mana you need. Personally not a big fan of this route as it takes away Auras needed to pump Sphere of Safety, and uses valuable card slots that reduce consistency. However I do believe it is worth mentioning if it gives someone else a great new deck idea. :)
Blind Obedience with Strionic Resonator does 4 damage, so makes them reconsider their aggro plan. Blind Obedience when added from sideboard now deals 2 damage and you gain 2 life. Honestly though, just cast multiple of them and pay the extort cost for all the super cheap auras you can cast. Furthermore your opponents hyper haste aggro now drags down. So use it either to compliment Contaminated Ground against aggro opponents, or switch the two against most others.
Strionic Resonator along with
Agent of the Fates
means your opponent sacrifices 2 creatures! And especially if you have an Ethereal Armor out you can easily take care of a 3rd creature because of deathtouch and first strike. Hell even a surprise Gods Willing with the added protection will do so, and all just for 3 mana. This is absolutely great against a Meta of Hexproof based creatures.
A special thanks to Quadsimotto for a playtest run! This deck has seen some changes since he last played though and is now more Mid-Range. He tested when Contaminated Ground was still being run, and only had 12 creatures to rather focus on lifeloss through auras. A thank you to EldestDragonHighlander for the help on rules and rounding out to face esper control since the style of play and wincon changes quite a bit once sideboarded.
THE HELP SECTION!
Underworld Connections as mentioned by EldestDragonHighlander would help for card draw if facing heavy creature control, plus adds 2 devotion for Erebos, God of the Dead. His suggestion of Drown in Sorrow is also worth looking into
So hive-mind, what are your takes on the current format? And how should the board be changed to accommodate? This deck has changed a lot since its start of 26 lifeloss enchantments with a heavy creature focus since that is usually whats played at my FNM. However, like always, know your META! But also be prepared to deal with rogue decks and unexpected changes.
