Ravenous Bloodseeker Discussion

Stromkirk Noble is probably the most well rounded one drop. Smuggler's Copter isnt terribly expensive and really adds a ton to the deck. A cheap aerial threat that enables your madness cards. I would swap out the Keys for it. Ravenous Bloodseeker does give you an additional discard outlet if Liliana of the Veil is out of budget.

Saying your curve tops at three means youre relying on madness (having a discard outlet). While you want to be a madness deck, it can be a fatal flaw to lean on that. You still want independently good cards.

I really like the use of One with Nothing. The thing with the deck is it looks like it is trying too hard to do too much all at once. With just two cards here and two cards there, you lack consistency in play. Try to find the cards that work the best together and use 3 or 4 of them. Unless your opponent / meta is really into things like Surgical Extraction, there's really no reason to not do it this way.

For example, if you are trying to not only discard a card AND pay it's Madness cost AND pay Olivia's Bloodsworn's ability, that's basically going to be the same as if you just played the card. You're using you resources in a non-efficient manner.

And while Ravenous Bloodseeker may be appealing at first, unless you are using cards like Distemper of the Blood, your Bloodseeker is going to end up dying to a 1/1 chump blocker. You can protect her with a Stromkirk Captain, but you don't have them in here. So, she's going to die.

BTW a great removal for a Vampire tribal deck is Feast of Blood and you should always run 4x.

But back on point, it may be harder to bring out Stromkirk Condemned over Ravenous Bloodseeker because you require two specific colors () rather than a generic and one specific (), but Stromkirk boosts all of your Vamps - therefore he is more effective, and more effective = better.

You have a really good base to work with. Keep play testing and find out which cards combo the best together, and which cards ultimately feel "slow", "sluggish" or "off". Replace those cards with the ones that you find work the best with others.

Hi,

first of all I like the low mana curve of your deck. This is how Edgar Markov should be played!

I am using Fiery Temper aswell as Avacyn's Judgment because I can almost always pay the madness cost using my discard outlets: Oona's Prowler, Ravenous Bloodseeker and Tormenting Voice. Fiery Temper is mainly my first pick because of Tormenting Voice which lets me cast it while digging my deck for either the mana I need to cast Barren Glory or Barren Glory itself.

I recommend a slightly more aggressive approach, focusing a little more on the madness mechanic. For that, you could add Furyblade Vampire or Ravenous Bloodseeker to enable madness and Incorrigible Youths as a payoff. Further, i suggest Insolent Neonate as a better one-dropt. To not run out of steam, you can add more Tormenting Voice and 2-3 Asylum Visitor.

Things to get rid of:

  • Defiant Bloodlord -> this is not primarily a lifegain deck & the mana cost are way too high.
  • Zulaport Cutthroat -> only useful with mass creatures (e.g. token strategies) or sac strategies.
  • Visions of Brutality -> i don't see any synergy
  • Diabolic Tutor -> make your deck consistent by playing 4 of each important card and you don't need tutors. they slow you down too much.
  • Pick the Brain -> sideboard
  • Blood Mist -> unsure about this one. you already get first strike from Stensia Masquerade but the cards work well together. But you want more creatures. So at least go down a copy...

Other cards to consider:

Get rid of all copies of Twins of Maurer Estate, Reckless Racer, Ravenous Bloodseeker, Insolent Neonate, and Alms of the Vein, and put in another copy of each card you have only one of other than Chandra, Torch of Defiance, and put in a couple of Canyon Slough and Smoldering Marsh instead of basic land.

jaylawlerrr: I always wanted to test Collective Brutality but it's always so expensive that I don't have the courage to buy them. I got Liliana last year and she wasn't that expensive back then, and it's the most costly card on the deck. Other than that the deck is pretty budget.

When you mix in Red, the madness archetype is normally way more agressive, so cards like Alms of the Vein are pretty good. I tried it as well but it was a coin flip. As I mentioned this deck sometimes run agressive and sometimes defensive depending on game, hands, draw, etc. So I felt Alms of the Vein didn't fit too well...

I did make a casual and budget monored aggro vampires, which is Standard with just 4 copies of everything, nothing special, focusing more on creatures.

But still, I just prefer playing the black version a lot more.

Hope to hear your feedback after you test your versions!

Looks ok, though i would get rid of Burn from Within and Sinister Concoction and probably one land. This deck wants to be fast, so you don't want to run out of creatures. Asylum Visitor could help with that. I would definitely go for a full playset of Incorrigible Youths and probably also Bloodmad Vampire.

Furthermore, i personally like Furyblade Vampire better than Ravenous Bloodseeker, but that's more a matter of taste.

Alms of the Vein could be considered for close matchups and flavor.
