Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler

Legendary Planeswalker — Tyvar

You may activate abilities of creatures you control as though those creatures had haste.

+1: Untap up to one target creature.

-2: Mill three cards, then you may return a creature card with converted mana cost/mana value 2 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield. (To mill a card, put the top card of your library into your graveyard.)

so I kind of find Elvish Piper a little... redundant. Thing with Elves is they can make soooo much many, simply playing a Craterhoof Behemoth is not tricky.

  1. Temur Sabertooth is so good as can bounce your stuff and replay them.
  2. Thousand-Year Elixir and Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler let you use all those precious mana abilities as though they have haste. Can massively increase the speed of your deck. I also run an Akroma's Memorial in mine for full haste amongst the other bonuses.
  3. Am a big fan of Nullmage Shepherd - Means you dont need to worry so much about Enchantment and Artifact removal.
  4. Seedborn Muse gives you an untap in everyone elses turn meaning many more activations of Lathril, Blade of the Elves other ability.
  5. Umbral Mantle and Staff of Domination can mean just win. Umbral makes many infinite mana combos, and staff lets you draw your library.

If youd like to have a look at my deck, here is the link - Golgari Elves

Good luck with the Elf deck, and feel free to hit my up with any other questions. +1

Lair of the Hydra is sweet. My buddy ran a pretty nice deck that used Leyline of Abundance and Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler to pump this guy up huge. Your deck looks more oriented around Broodscale combo. You might consider adding different pieces for some redundancy maybe Blade of the Bloodchief / Urza's Saga? I also highly rec looking at Glittering Company for about the most well-tuned and still updated Collected Company toolbox combo list you will find!

Hello there,

Always a fan of an Elf deck (and have a Lathril deck if you want a look - Golgari Elves)

So one of the biggest advantages you will have with Elves is their ability to create mana. There are a couple of very notable cards missing from your list which I would not want you to miss out on.

  1. Priest of Titania
  2. Circle of Dreams Druid

They will help you just set yourself massively ahead.

Also, there are a couple things which really will help you be able to get ahead more by have "Ability haste". Cards like Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler and Thousand-Year Elixir means when those guys drop down, you can have instant value. If you can look aside from the fact it is not an elf, Temur Sabertooth can easily end up making you infinite mana if you have one of these "ability haste" pieces down, and can bounce the mana dork, and replay it making more mana, and repeat.

I guess after this then we are looking for payoffs. There are some obvious but expensive ones in Finale of Devastation and Craterhoof Behemoth, but also there are some much cheaper ones like Ezuri, Renegade Leaderfoil and Tyvar, the Pummeler, where you just pump your board to an infinitely large size.

There is also a couple pieces which may help with Lathrils activated ability. Seedborn Muse and Awakening all give extra instances of being able to activate that ability. Awakening will obviously help your opponents as well, but with the right set up, you are putting your opponents on a massive clock.

Hope this helps, and of course, a +1 for you

Hello there,

In a deck like this, something like Patriarch's Bidding will invariably benefit you way more than others. Tons of ETBs etc. Whilst your opponents also get a level of recursion from this, you say "elves" and pop all the pointy eared ones from your graveyard back into play.

Add in a Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler and a Thousand-Year Elixir and they gain "ability haste", meaning all those mana dorks etc, can all be activated as well.

So I also run a Golgari Elfball deck, and it is great fun to pilot. Couple cards that are real good:

Real nice deck, and have upvoted. Good stuff. Be wary of the Shroud effects though from Eladamri, Lord of Leaves and Steely Resolve as you wont be able to equip your equipment (so Sword and mantle), or use The Ozolith, Thousand-Year Elixirs untap ability, or anything else you have that targets your own Elves. I am sure you are totally on top of it, but have made that mistake myself and been fully undone by it hahaha)

Runed Arch, Skeleton Key, Floriferous Vinewall, Endoskeleton, and Wall of Shields(which doesn't say on the card, but has apparently been Errata'd to include Defender) could be worth considering to include in this deck.

Also, a niche combo you could pull off would be to include a Wickerwing Effigy and use it to cast your Tree of Perdition which would then come in with all of its abilties, but as a 1/1. Keep it alive for a turn cycle and decide who you like the least. Bonus points if you have a way to do it on the same turn, such as with Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler or your Crashing Drawbridge
