Thanks for the detailed response! I have always loved strategy games and been aware of Magic but never really dove in. I'm throughly enjoying searching around for cards and seeing how different cards can work together. Sadly I just can't afford cards over say $100 right now. I think my wife would burn me at a stake if she knew I splurged for the Sliver Queen *oversized*!
I am definitely going to use Windfall to replace Wheel of Fortune. That just makes sense to me, basically the same effect with the only variable being drawing less than 7 cards.
Three Tree City also seems like a 1 for 1 for Gaea's Cradle. Yes, slightly less efficient but much more manageable budget wise. I wasn't aware of this card! Thank you!
I actually, settled on the Pain Lands after my last post. However, it's not a 1 for 1 swap for the original 10 duals because your list already included Adarkar Wastes and Yavimaya Coast. So, I just need to find replacements for Tropical Island and Tundra. Which I think will be Overflowing Basin and Skycloud Expanse. Sadly, the Sack lands will only be able to find the Shocks but it is what it is. I can't imagine having a Triome and it coming in tapped and not being able to play a card because of it. I again wasn't aware of the Filter Lands! Thank you x2!
So the only replacement card I need to think more about is Mox Diamond. Do you think I should stick with a mana rock? Or can I get away with another utility Sliver or interaction? Diffusion Sliver, Morophon, the Boundless, Teferi's Protection, Heroic Intervention, Mystical Tutor where the cards I've been eyeing.
Thank you x3!

Hi Bishoprage,
Thanks for showing interest in my deck, and yes this is the right place for your questions. Speaking of which, what to replace the "4 horseman" dual lands with? I have some ideas, and will list them from most to least expensive so you can make a decision based off of your budget:
-
Ikoria/New Capenna Triome Lands - the cycle is complete, and yes entering tapped is pretty lame but they can be tutored with any of the fetchlands I am presuming you are going to keep in the deck.
-
Shadowmoor/Eventide Filter Lands - The land cycle is complete and can produce colorless mana in a pinch. At one point some of these lands were in the deck - until the budget grew and I went for more expensive options.
-
Pain Lands - unfortunately these aren't typed, but the cycle is complete and for the low low price of just one life per use you can get the mana you need.
-
Three Tree City is a substitute i'd recommend for Gaea's Cradle.
-
Yes, indeed i'd suggest Windfall for wheel of fortune, or really any other reasonably low coverted mana cost (cmc) draw spell of your choice to be honest. Or heck, you could get another piece of interaction like Permission Denied.
-
As a substitution for Mox Diamond i'd suggest maybe Mind Stone? This is a tough call as there are few 2 cmc mana rocks out there i'd recommend that are a reasonable monetary investment.
Those are my suggestions for (in my opinion) reasonably priced substitutions for the more expensive pieces in the deck. Let me know what you think! Also, welcome to magic! Hopefully you will have a good time brewing and building your very own Sliver Hive!

I hadn’t seen Three Tree City before, that’s a great one. Is that from that recent Redwall wannabe set?

EDH traditionally has no sideboard, and any card that references searching outside of the deck fizzles upon resolution, so my playgroup rule zero's that.
-
I think you make an excellent point about lands like Ancient Ziggurat and Unclaimed Territory, and my favorite.. Three Tree City. That last candidate is awful for flavor purposes, and I intentionally walk that line like a madman above New York on High-Wire.
-
When it comes down to the Commander I chose, my process for these challenges typically starts with a quick search through Gatherer for potential candidates. I like to filter who I think is most viable based on applicable abilities, synergies, etc. and of course- color identity. Atraxa was pretty much an obvious choice, but I'm disappointed I didn't lean into the "do it for the vine" of it all by choosing a harder candidate. So kamarupa, what do you think? Build a follow-up list with Umbris, Fear Manifest or Yarok, the Desecrated? Both are excellent candidates but I think the less colors we provide access to, the less effective and functional the list stands to be. This considered, my deck is so awful. It could be a lot better, and I want to demonstrate that from a flavor standpoint, and separately a mechanical standpoint. Might be able to demonstrate both within the same build, but I digress.
-
I want to comment about the MDFCs and the erroneous cards that Balaam__ mentioned. I think that those cards that demonstrate evolution operate on an entendre front, where they represent both change as an evolution as mechanical cards, and both as lore-wise changes. Atraxa is like a Scion of Corruption- so she effectively ruins all that she comes into contact with, it's kind of a beautiful and terrifying tragedy. I found a home for cards like Cloistered Youth Flip. Showing someone horrified and actually from the realm of Innistrad but thematically fitting that Horrors are encroaching upon the living in these dastardly ways.. it's a chef's kiss kind of alignment. I hope it delivers satisfaction to you as it does to me, because I think that's a thematic win.
-
I refrained from defending my deck in the slightest because I wanted honest, unbiased feedback and I think that succeeded for you two! Lastly, Thing in the Ice Flip is the perfect inclusion as it's name is Awoken Horror Flip, and it effectively acts as a type-focused Cyclonic Rift that would more than likely win me the game on the spot, and that my friends kamarupa and Balaam__, is what we call a Three-Pointer.

Ah! You're right about that Roaming Throne! I missed that. Sorry for the wasted suggestion. Interesting philosophy regarding your commander getting combat damage - instead of trying to sneak by, you just hit them harder. Well i'm glad you're considering Finale of Devastation as it fits this ethos quite nicely. I do wonder about your deck's consistency though - have you ever found yourself needing to tutor for creatures? I see you're considering Worldly Tutor, what about Sylvan Tutor? Both place creatures on top of your library, so it synchronizes perfectly with your Commander's triggers. What maybe more ramp? There's Kodama's Reach, the sibling to Cultivate that you could also include.
Now lastly, this suggestion is very expensive - but why settle for Three Tree City when you could go for Gaea's Cradle? Gishath Spared No Expense, so why should you? Just hear me out - this card is indeed a game changer, and a very splashy one. You don't have purchase it, as you can proxy. But if that's not your style, I won't slight you. On the other hand if you have a full trade binder with some pricey goodies you could go to an LGS you trust and work out a deal. I've done something like this before and it's worked out for me. But again, this is a very subjective thing. If that doesn't seem appealing, you could also try Growing Rites of Itlimoc Flip. It can help you get another creature in hand/filter the top of your library. What're your thoughts?

Mortlocke - I did not respond to your card suggestions in my initial response but have more time now to do so. You are correct that a 7/6 is not always the biggest threat out on the field but that is the beauty of most commander games, there are three opponents and I only need to hit one of them to trigger Gishath and rain down those beautiful dinos! So generally I have found at least in my play circles that extra evasion is not as helpful/needed as doubling down on Gishath with cards like The Skullspore Nexus, Goring Ceratops, Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion, etc. But I do agree the cards you suggested are clutch and I do run those often in decks. I just omitted them from this deck based on my experience piloting the deck. I do have Roaming Throne in the decklist, it is under the "support creatures" as it tehcnically is not a dinosaur until it enters the field so Gishath can not cheat it out. However, that double triggered abilities effect is wicked good! I could also add in Three Tree City as I have a few copies of that now since the last time I played this deck...between new cards and new cards to my inventory, the fun never ends on the small tweaks to the deck as you are likely very aware!

Hey, digging the deck. Few new good ones. Three Tree City, is a junior Cradle and Banner of Kinship is a 5 drop wincon with all the elves about. I also like War Room for some extra draw chances at very little downside. Survival of the Fittest if not out for budget.

pinecone2k3: Sorry for the very delayed response. Work and children has had me pretty busy that I haven't looked at anything for some time now. Just used the app to cycle my decks and see what would happen.
Anyway, I think you were right with the land amount, so I added two more lands to make it an even 34. I would go to 36, as that seems to be where I am more successful, but cutting two more cards will be challenging. Would end up having to be ramp spells.
I was already thinking after my first few losses that my lands entering tapped was a downfall. I thought I was being clever by adding Forest/Mountain lands that could be searched for with tons of my ramp spells but in the end it slowed me down. I am currently working to remedy that problem.
Once things settle down and I have wiggle room, I plan on buying Thornspire Verge, Karplusan Forest, Cragcrown Pathway Flip, and Spire Garden. I'd take out Wooded Ridgeline, Krosan Verge, Mountain Valley, and Sheltered Thicket. I thought about switching out Commercial District for Three Tree City or Fountainport. Just haven't decided yet.
If I manage to get a decent bonus this year I want to try to get my hands on a Taiga for the deck.
