RiotRunner789 on Favorite EDH Cards

My favorite card is Grave Pact but that isn't quite niche. I don't seem to have as many oddball fun cards that I tend to play but there are a few oddball or less played ones at least.
Black: Koskun Falls is a favorite of mine. I prefer decks that do not attack, so the tapping is not a big downside. Tainted Remedy because it makes opponent's creatures with lifelink funny. Gift of Doom which doesn't use the stack when morphing which has come in handy more than once. Pestilence is one of my favorite black board wipes which typically is on my board with an indestructible creature. Dystopia since at least someone is playing Selesnya.
White: Peacekeeper because no means no. Aura of Silence use to be more niche but has seen some prominent reprints. Solid removal with a tax effect has tripped up more than one opponent. Mandate of Peace is a great fog and a counter spell in some situations. Underplayed.
Green: Hall of Gemstone for any monogreen deck. Had a blue player try to win on my endstep and about 5 minutes into their combo, I asked where there blue mana was coming from.
Orzhov: Batwing Brume has killed a few Kranko players for me and saved me several times.
Colorless: Null Brooch is just Isochron Scepter with Negate already attached. Arena of the Ancients is great for when my commander doesn't need to tap, or attack, or is played after this and has vigilance. Great card no one expects.
Red: Apocalypse or Jokulhaups for the hard reset. Stranglehold because blue players are the worst and tutoring takes too long.
Blue: Mana Vortex for the slow decent into hell.

Thank you for the suggestion Necramus, Jokulhaups is definitely a spicy one. I was a bit apprehensive to include MLD in the deck, mostly because my main playgroup doesn't really have much Land Destruction beyond stuff like Beast Within/Generous Gift. Ironically, that's also why I thought a Lands deck could potentially carve a niche in our meta, since there currently aren't many responses to it.

This is a cool deck. When I was considering building Jund, it came down between Bhaal and Lord Wingrace. I decided to complete The Dead Three for flavor purposes, but I will almost certainly play this deck at some point.
I do have one spicy suggestion: Jokulhaups

Keldon Firebombers can be good. But I would rather it also destroy artifacts and creatures. For this deck, I think the more it can reset the board, the better. I actually used to have four land destruction cards in the deck: Jokulhaups, Devastation, Obliterate, and Bearer of the Heavens.
But since I have so many draw and search cards in the deck, I'm actually able to very consistently obtain a land wipe. After many games, I've noticed that I would often end up with two or more MLD in my hand. At that point, the excess were just duds. So I decided to remove Devastation and Bearer of the Heavens to make room for cheaper cards that were more useful. After lowering the average CMC, I was also able to put in more non land cards. Which I also felt made it better.
I've looked at your deck, and I think it's VERY good. I especially liked the combos you have in the deck. My deck doesn't really have too many permanents that are sac outlets, so I probably wouldn't be using those specific combos. Which I'm ok with, since I like keeping +1 counters on my creatures to prep for a MLD.
It's just a different way of winning. But again, very good job on the Marchesa deck!

I prefer Keldon Firebombers because they really are effectively MLD, but they don't hurt as much because everyone gets to keep some stuff.
I especially liked them in my Feldon of the Third Path deck, where 3 mana was all I needed to keep recurring them.
Jokulhaups hits all my artifacts, which feels bad to me.
(that said, I get your point and don't disagree)
(I guess the thought of Marchesa sending a Firesquad to torch her enemies just plays better in my narrative thana huge natural disaster)

If you're going that route, just go Jokulhaups. You can typically end games within 3 turns with only a few creatures coming back (so worst case scenario, the misery of your opponents is short).
I personally dropped it because if I wasn't tutoring for it and playing it asap then it felt like I was artificially extending games and playing suboptimally... and if I did play it, then it felt like a total dick move sometimes.

Why Apocalypse? It exiles so Marchesa won't bring your creatures back. I think Jokulhaups is the card/effect you're after although it doesn't touch enchantments, planeswalkers, or hands.
Also, have you proxied or playtested Danny Pink, Uncivil Unrest, or Plumb the Forbidden yet? Those first 2 are REALLY impactful and depending on your meta, the 3rd one can be. It's been a minute, so I figured I'd ask.
Doombeard1984 on There’s only one Sliver Overlord

Hi there...
So logged onto Tapped Out, and another Sliver Overlord deck (your's in case you didnt guess) caught my eye. This pleases the Hive.
So firstly, will alway be a +1 for Sliver decks.
If I may, a couple of suggestions.
-
Lifecrafter's Bestiary swap for Guardian Project or The Great Henge You can get your draw then, without sacrificing green mana to allow the draw.
-
Black Market Connections (its a large life cost for very little gain swap for Rhystic Study Gives you repeatable draw WITHOUT sacrificing life.
-
Obliterate swap for Jokulhaups Its a just a cheaper better wrath honestly lol. Can keep your draw enchantments up too and Cryptolith Rite if you have it, giving massive mana advantage.
-
Virulent Sliver (honestly, 1 poison counter is not worth it lol) + Intruder Alarm Intruder Alarm will give you another way to combo out and put every sliver you have into play tutoring with Sliver Overlord. If you can make infinite tokens (from Sliver Queen) will combo with Lavabelly Sliver for the win.
-
Muscle Sliver swap for Chromatic Lantern Having played slivers for many many years, trample is so marginally important. You have total evasion with Shifting Sliver, Cloudshredder Sliver et al. Trample is just not that important. What is important... having available as often as possible.
-
Coat of Arms swap for Shared Animosity Means your attack bonuses only effect you
-
Predatory Sliver swap for Sedge Sliver If you have a Swamp you can regenerate, and you get the +1/+1... so strictly better
Hope you dont mind me putting my 2 pence/cents/whatever currency. If you would like to look at my deck, please just head over to my hive: Sliver Overlord - Predatory Super-Organisms
