MOAR TUTORS and other stuff —Oct. 24, 2014

Several Changes, MOAR tutors, less things to hurt me. Removing: Jace's Archivist - works too slow because I can't use his ability right away. Phyrexian Tyranny - Hurts a bit too much Sangromancer - don't really need her if I am getting rid of Phyrexian Tyranny Chrome Mox - I am not trying to ramp super fast. Life's Finale - expensive, its other effect usually helps a opponent more in EDH than take them down and it lacks any special effect to justify its CMC like Extingush All Hope with Fate Unraveler. Spiteful Visions - like Tyranny it hurts but much less and it does provide card but for now I will exclude it. Replacing with: Fellwar Stone I am practically guaranteed to at least have two colors from this stone in multiplayer. Mystical Tutor find whatever instant/Sorc I want. Sakashima the Impostor because we all need a second Neku. Vandalblast Mass artifact hate plus it does not effect me! Lim-Dul's Vault Functions almost exactly like a tutor and can find me whatever I want for the low cost of 1 life per five card dig. Breathstealer's Crypt - I don't run much creatures and its effects are very beneficial for me. Also, I do believe its time to refresh the comment section! :3

Love the deck. Nekusar, the Mindrazer is by far my favorite commander. I didn't even notice the Mind Over Matter + Temple Bell combo even though I have those cards in my deck! How is the Sire Of Insanity working out for you? I am slightly skeptical of it but it could be really good.

Have you ever thought of putting in Library of Leng in here. It seems like a staple of most Nekusar decks.

If you want come check out my slightly more budget version straight razor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also just noticed that you have very little in the way of removal. How is that working for you? I have noticed that my deck has a really hard time with mid-range decks and aggro.

great deck. +1!

Sire Of Insanity is currently under testing when I have him out with my discard related effects such as Waste Not , Megrim , etc he has been absolutely devastating so it seems he may have a place here.

Library of Leng was in here but since I am running graveyard recursion I didn't find it to necessary I might put it back in now that I am running Sire.

Thanks for the Comment! :3

Conspiracy brings us Ill-Gotten Gains . Thoughts?

Also, don't forget Library of Leng lets you discard to your library, if you Wheel of Fortune you can simply take the cards you want and put them on top, dumping the rest in some bastard version of a partial mulligan.

Ohthenoises True I just have to find space for it might just put it back in maybe for Breathstealer's Crypt as I am not too fond of showing off my cards and not every deck plays tons of creatures but idk yet. As for Ill-Gotten Gains the discard is nice but giving them the choice of what to pick out of their graveyard not so much I rather run the ever continuous discarder which is Sire Of Insanity even though he is a creature and cost 2 more.

Ill-Gotten Gains seems very underwhelming for this deck. Other then the fact that it lets you pick three cards from your grave yard its basically a wheel effect with two MAJOR downsides: One, you let your opponent pick three cards from their grave yard and Two, there is no draw effect to ping with Nekusar.

That Library of Leng though! Do it! Nothing sucks more for an opponent than watching you pick and chose your next hand while they discard their hand and draw four lands and a one drop. Personally I never really liked Breathstealer's Crypt , not enough of either damage or discard. On the damage front, you shouldn't be lacking in that with the cards you already have. If it is the discard you like than put in Helm of the Ghastlord , far more brutal when on Nekusar + it gives you card draw, +2/+2 and is less mana intensive.

I think of Ill-Gotten Gains less of giving people advantage and more of giving me a Hinder , a Wheel of Fate , and a Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir back in hand. Then you can cast teferi and Wheel of Fate the turn after you use Ill-Gotten Gains . (Using the counter magic to keep someone from breaking you with it.)

oakenshild Don't forget about Liliana's Caress and Megrim . If you Ill-Gotten Gains back a Wheel of Fate that's a potential for 28 damage with one Liliana's Caress effect in play. Also, Waste Not will have fun there too.

If you like the MoM/ temple bell combo, the you may want to look into Otherworld Atlas

Also Mind Over Matter and Jace's Archivist is an Infinite combo that you play butDidn't mention in your comments.

Holy crap I didn't notice that since I never had both out at the same time goes to show there are so many shenanigans that can be done with Mind Over Matter :3

You still need U for each tapping but anyways, Mercurial Chemister is pretty slick in these kind of decks as well.

hmmm... still not convinced on Ill-Gotten Gains . I see the potential in setting up a sweet combo but at the same time it sets your opponent up to be able to counter anything you play, or if you have to wait a turn to play those cards you got back, they could set up a board state that you have to respond to instead of playing the god combo you just worked so hard to get. Yes if you have a Megrim or Liliana's Caress you can do some pretty sweet damage but you could do the same damage with a Winds of Change or Whispering Madness and have to bonus damage from them drawing. I think it's more of a preference thing, than which card is better.

hahahahah!! OMG Otherworld Atlas would be hilarious!! Maybe it's not quite at a competitive level, but it looks like a blast.

I was gonna say that you would need to add Fatestitcher or something similar to go infinite with MoM and Jace's Archivist and then I realized that you can untap lands with MoM...

The chemister is good but I'm not sure if there is any thing that is lack-luster enough to warrant being replaced with him. Everything in here seems pretty streamlined to me.

Slight nitpick with your reasoning: Winds of Change doesn't discard anything.

August 29, 2014 12:06 a.m.

Whether you need the blue or not... Even If the highes number of cards a play has is 2 (EXTREMELY unlikely in this deck) then you trigger the archivist, everyone draws two (Nekusar would deal 2 to everyone) you discard 2 cards to Mind over matter, that will untap the archivist and an island. Rinse, repeat.

Lookin for advice and comments on my list as well. Feel free to check it out and leave a +1. Thanks in advance.

Nekusar's Perfect Storm

Also I you want to speed up the deck you can lower your overall land count an take out your higher cmc cost cards like Sire Of Insanity and play lots and lots of more mana rocks.

I play just about every rock worth playing and consistently kill around turn 5-6. Just a thought, though. Lol

Ohthenoises haha, good point, I didn't even notice. Like I said its just a preference. All cards have their ups and downs.

I can see most of the mana rocks that I know of in here.

PrestonShilling I would not want to lower the lands in this deck for more colorless mana rocks as some of my spells can be quite mana intensive (unless it was Mana Crypt but that is not affordable XP) Chrome Mox , Talisman of Indulgence , Fellwar Stone and Mox Diamond could have a spot in here. I may add them in place of the more expensive mana ramps such as Thran Dynamo and Lotus and also some land. Now about Sire Of Insanity I like him as he works with my four discard enchantments and Sangromancer and if void is out then all those cards are gone for good but he may be one mana too expensive (one of the reasons niv left). I wish his effect was on cheaper body. :C

Well I guess its time to update my deck again. :3

August 29, 2014 2:21 a.m.

Speaking of niv... I'm a HUGE fan of the Curiosity cards on Nekusar. That might as well be another "combo" with Mind Over Matter lol

August 29, 2014 2:27 a.m.

How come you have a Sire Of Insanity ? Doesn't that kind of mess with the drawing lots of cards thing?

(but if it works for you then ignore me lol)

ThisIsBullshit

Sire Of Insanity triggers all of my discard enchantments such as Waste Not . Megrim , etc combine this with a card like Wheel of Fortune your looking at major damage. Now what I don't really like about him is his cost six mana is a lot for a creature who can't do anything by himself but discard (which does hurt control players though) currently his spot has a opening if I find something else. :3

zerowner I would probably put in Counterspell before I put in Dream Fracture because this deck does not want any counterspells costing more than 2 due to the fact I usually only have 1-2 mana open at the end of my turn. :3

Sakashima the Impostor is an extremely versatile card that does a lot of work in this kind of deck. Other great cards worth considering are Wound Reflection to help you get there faster while Painful Quandary is an amazing control card that helps offsets the advantage you give your opponents. And it may be personal preference, but I find Ebony Owl Netsuke is a very underrated card that wrecks life totals, especially earl game, while I find Spiteful Visions too detrimental to my own game plan to be worth running.

Sakashima is great but I prefer Clever Impersonator because it can copy everything but lands. Wound Reflection and Painful Quandary have a expensive CMC and usually the discard one card per spell thing is not too amazing unless I have a few discard enchantments out. Ebony Owl certainly does have potential early game and late game when I am refilling opponent hands but its kinda of conditional but I will consider it. Spiteful Visions is in here for redundancy and acts as exactly like Neku but damages me as well but is harder to remove and cost one less and is easier to cast. I do have some lifegain in here to offset this but even if it could do me in I can kill everyone else before it kills me by letting the damage from it resolve for my opponents first when I play a wheel effect. Even if I were to consider getting rid of it I would first think of getting rid of Phyrexian Tyranny as it really hurts much more than Spiteful. :3

Thanks for the input! :3
