This was done free-for-all. Fortunately, we were few enough in number that nobody was tripping over anybody, nor were did anybody seem to feel like they couldn't get to any box they wanted to. Two digging through one box at a time didn't seem problematic, but I could see three getting old real quick.
As for strategy for me, since I knew I would be building my daughter's deck, and I knew I wanted to keep it fairly simple, I was going through mostly green, looking for ramp and big dumb creatures, meanwhile figuring I could pull any slivers to the side for my own stuff. Unfortunately, I couldn't find some of the key slivers I knew I would need (specifically Gemhide Sliver and Virulent Sliver), but I did find a chunk of Thallids (Thallid, Thorn Thallid, and Thallid Devourer, along with Night Soil) from Fallen Empires, and ended up making a Saproling deck.

This is a fun concept. But even for ultra budget/casual, there are a couple things I think are worth pointing out:
- Jade Mage without any sort of mana ramp is quite weak. Since adding proper ramp (she's best when you can generate really large amounts of mana per turn) might ruin the budget, perhaps consider replacing her with something else.
- Thallid is also quite weak and slow without proper support (like other thallids or cards that interact with counters). Personally I'd replace it with Tukatongue Thallid

I have a friend who runs a similar meren deck and after looking at your creatures you have way more sac outlets then you need and not enough sac fodder. early game thallid cards like Utopia Mycon, Thallid Shell-Dweller, Thallid and Psychotrope Thallid are great for experience counters and great with Skullclamp.

@GeminiSpartanX, There was a point in time in which I did run Thallid over Tukatongue Thallid however what I found was Tuka was generally more impactful not early and late game. Tuka could offer me an effective turn one blocker that would produce a second blocker on death which given the right circumstances could be utilized even further for activation effect on my many other thallid (this was generally better than Thallid as I often did not want to block with a producer but would often have to vs aggro). The end result for Tuka was that it simply helped me get off the ground early which is something this deck struggles with as it is a much slower build than most would realize.

Understandable. I'm also curious about Tukatongue Thallid. Why play it over Thallid in this list? You don't have any sac outlets for fungi, so Thallid seems a little more synergistic with the counter-accumulation. However, If you were to run something like Fallen Ideal I could understand its inclusion along with Blood Artist.

will probably pick up Hatred Soon, since this does everything this deck wants to do.

The7thBobba Thank you! I replaced Thallid for Thallid Shell-Dweller because I wanted to be able to block large threats until I got out a Paradox Haze or Doubling Season. I had to cut Sporesower Thallid for cheaper creatures and to make room for counters, but I'll definatly keep it in mind. Thanks mate
