I am familiar with calling Gray Merchant of Asphodel by the name of Gary, but are there any other cards that have such a generally accepted nickname? I personally am a fan of Monastery Swiftspear being known as Taylor Swiftspear, but I haven't found any others saying that. Alternatively, please give me ideas for good nicknames for cards, since I like the concept of card nicknames, and need more
Dark Confidant = Bob
Primeval Titan = Prime Time
Solemn Simulacrum = Sad Robot
Mother of Runes = Mom
There are many others that are just simple shortenings ex: Sensei's Divining Top = Top

Siege Rhino = Dr. Siege Rhinoceros
Primeval Titan = Prime Time
Thragtusk = Swagtusk

Snapcaster Mage = Snappy

My playgroup abbreviates a lot of things. Oblivion Ring= O-Ring, Detention Sphere= D-Sphere, Wurmcoil Engine= Wurmcoil, stuff like that. Of course, there's Newlamog(Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger), but that's just generally accepted.

A few I've always done.
Rakdos: the Rak-daddy
Grisselbrand: griselfits, tits, mits, pits...yeah the list goes on.
During isd-rtr standard i used to call delver of secrets DELVAR (normally shouted) because people treated it like the most super villian of all time.
Had a buddy of mine refer to the eldrazi as uh..."adult film actors" to put in a pg term.

i also took to calling Savage Knuckleblade Riddick because he carries the same curvy hand blades as Riddick and he has a big white beard and hair like Riddick had at the beginning of Chronicles of Riddick.

Huh, way back in the days of Revised Force of Nature = Bob. I have no idea why either. And a first turn double Dark Ritual into a Sengir Vampire was a Tee Hee due to our resident black play giggling every time he did it

Siege Rhino is called Rhymnocerous now due to a 13th Age campaign.
Thing in the Ice Flip is called titi due to it being the first letter of each word. Also we're immature.
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip is called Baby Jace.

I refer to any and all invitational cards by the name of the guy that made them (or by the nickname of the guy who made them), with the exception of the Sad Robot (unless someone else at the table is also calling theirs "sad robot", then I'll switch to "Jens" for maximum confusion) and Ranger of Eos because I never remember it's an invitational card (poor Antoine)
- Sylvan Safekeeper - "the littlest viking"
- Shadowmage Infiltrator - "Johnny Magic" or "Finkel" (but usually not "Jon Finkel" for whatever reason)
- Snapcaster Mage - "Thiago"
- Dark Confidant - "Bob"
- Meddling Mage - "Chris Pikula"
- Voidmage Prodigy - "Kai"
- Avalanche Riders - "Darwin Kastle"
I have never seen Mike Long or Terry Soh played, but if I did I'd make sure to use the proper name :)
Other things in random order:
- Uktabi Orangutan is often called the "Sex Monkey" because of the two monkeys in the background.
- Gorilla Shaman I have heard referred to as the "Mox Monkey" because that's what it would often destroy in the old days.
- Collected Company is "CoCo"
- One of the names that stuck with me from the LRR nicknames podcast was "Anafenza, the Goatmost", who later became "Anafenza, the Ghostmost".
- Bone Saw is just "Bone Saw" but you have to pronounce it in the wrestler's voice. When you go to equip, proceed to communicate to the rest of the table that "Bone Saw is Ready".
- Blightsteel Colossus is the "One-Shot Robot" (because it can kill you in one hit).
- Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre I have heard called "Ulamog, the infinite Gyro", mostly by LSV.
Rothus: I usually call Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip "Tiny Jace" because I am used to "Baby Jace" being Jace Beleren.
