Orzhov's Weapon against Animar...

Commander / EDH* BMHKain

Before that even...

Animar, Soul of Elements

Now let's get to business...

Recently, I wanted to "Even the Odds" as MTGGoldfish does for some things that are meant to be truly impossibibble (Yes, I spelt it wrong on-purpose for a reason better than yours.) when it comes to Orzhov beating a certain Animar, Soul of Elements , which has full protection over a Syndicate known for their Currency Creation, & Religeous Scorn over Poverty. That said, I'm trying to make said EDH deck for the purpose of beating Animar (Be it "Unfitting" Morph Tribal, Mass Creature casting, & just making Animar stronger each time.); but this story doesn't end here. I actually also want it to be just as capale at beating that as with at least some others. Where do my problems start? The Commander thyself; I just don't know what commander in the Syndicate to use that isn't just another Life-Manipulation, or mass grave manipulation. I don't want to use any creature that one can overuse the amount of all at the same time (I abhorr you Shadowborn Apostle .), I just want a strategy that works.

Here's what & has that you might not know:

Counterspells:
- Dawn Charm (Also a Multimode) - Lapse of Certainty - Mana Tithe (Aka Force Spike ) - Rebuff the Wicked - Withering Boon

Time Magic: - Temporal Extortion (Although only one in this case, it can be reused...)

That said, I'm going to need stuf better than this for the Orzhov Syndicate to conquer Nature, & ruin its army as well. I really would like some suggestions for this. Maybe the cards above are not that good to you, but at least I have something. I believe my Landbase is fine as it is. What do you think should be changed though?

(& why am I acting like a goldfish on a frying pan?!)

If you want to go down a aristocrat deck, . It is a simple orzhov aristocrat list, but it gets the job done

the best solution I could offer other than like Grave Pact to make them sac Animar would be board wipes.

Just Oblivion Strike , Scour from Existence , Grip of Desolation , Wasteland Strangler (if small), make them sacrifice it, board wipe, mass bounce/exile, counter over and over with an effect like Deathgrip , Nevermore , Preacher , Gideon's Intervention , etc.

Play Teysa Karlov . Play every wrath you can afford. Don't play Mana Tithe against a deck that can pay an extra 8 generic mana to resolve its Eldrazi titan.

Teysa Karlov tokens with Grave Pact seems a good way to go. You could even include Teysa, Orzhov Scion and some of her combos. Or switch it around and just do combo Orzhov Scion with a Karlov in the 99.

Thran Lens allows your creatures to block Animar and possibly remove him if any have deathtouch.

Consecrate / Consume and Renounce the Guilds both have chances at removing Animar if not a big fatty either way.

If you're playing 1 vs 1 Council's Judgment can always remove Animar.

Solar Tide , Austere Command , Consume the Meek , Culling Sun , Retribution of the Meek , Ritual of Soot , and Dusk / Dawn are all board wipes you can use like spot-removal.

Deathgrip is probably your BEST counterspell.

Since Animar starts as a 1/1 cards like Engineered Plague , Night of Souls' Betrayal , Curse of Death's Hold , Ethereal Absolution , and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite make him die instantly before he can ever get big. (If he's already out and pumped up before you can get one out just use a board wipe and he'll be stuck in the command zone until the Animar player can remove this effect.)

Nevermore and Gideon's Intervention makes it so Animar can't be cast.

Chalice of the Void on 3 makes it so Animar can't be cast.

Animar functions by flooding the board with creatures. Board wipes are very effective against this strategy. Protection from white doesn't protect from Wrath of God effects.

O-0'''

Such incredible suggestions. I think I MAY have enough to fulfill such a goal as of now. Thanks very much for all this. I know some others are probably going to nuke this topic in a lot of ways, so I just want this topic closed; I've enough options anyway. Thank you all. ^-^

BTW, I myself wonder if Teysa, Orzhov Scion is a thing still; oh, wait, the version is already in the database. I'll use this as CMDR instead; Thanks again!

Animar is a creature based deck. You have some of the best sweepers ever in your colors. Use Toxic Deluge , Wrath of God , Damnation , Fumigate , Cleansing Nova , Terminus , Hallowed Burial , Rout , Decree of Pain , and others to beat it. I would include 6-7.

Killing animar is next to impossible in your colors. Maybe consider Unstable Obelisk ?

Cards such as Torpor Orb , Lethal Vapors , Curse of Exhaustion , and Humility can help a lot too. Good luck!

CHECK THIS OUT; AN UPDATE:

Still at 98, but I'm not here for help of what to include. Since nobody seems to get the decks purpose; It is about beating Animar, Soul of Elements , but I also want this deck to beat other decks w/ as much efficiency. That said, I am here for what to replace in the current 98 for now. I just want cards that can dispose of both Animar, & even more... Eheh… I'd really like your suggestions from here.

Oh, & One last thing. I'm trying to find a card that can protect my Power 2 (Or less or more; same for toughness.) creatures in as I'm planning to update my cEDH Boros deck for the use of playtesting against Tier 3, & potentially better if successful; same for stuff that protects my CMC <=3; there doesn't seem to be any of this; & I'd like something like that in aforementioned Boros Deck... :/

BUMPOTRON! WTF BRO!

OH THOSE GUYS LOOKED CUTE, & MADE ME LOOK LIKE THE EDW (Whada--- is an EDW?)

Don't know the reference I parodied? It makes G1 Megatron look lame in comparison to G1 Starscream; made worse as Megatron was joking at himself to hide his shame.

/rant.

Well, I dunno about you guys, but I still am going for the exact rule I mentioned even on this post's OP in the first place; this isn't meant to deal w/ Animar alone. It was meant to deal with a variety of threats in addition. Animar is just used as a default target. In actuality; I actually wanted ideas to dispatch both Animar, & the usual other suspects all the same. With that said, I'm going somewhere else while the likes of those who thought this was Animar-only head back to Square Uno to rethink their ideas; though some are already good all around, & WILL stay as a result. At least well done to those...

Any other suggestions to replace some of the already at 98?

(Just think while I do a big project...)

BUMP ASSAULT X

Now at 99, I'm getting a bit concerned as to why you all deck was initially intended for Animar, Soul of Elements . I am looking at ways to take out even Mayael the Anima , Mizzix of the Izmagnus , even some truly high caliber CMDRs. Your opinion on this matter is needed as this isn't just meant for Animar; it was meant to dispatch of many others.

I'll leave you to your suggestions; if anyone cares anymore...

Supplemental.

Actually... I should probably mention a suggestion for a list of stuff that have NO qualities of D: Damage, E: Equip/Enchant, B: Blocking, & T: Targeting. Simply put: Stuff that uses:

  1. No need to damage to Destroy or even Exile.
  2. Can be Manipulated via Equipments/Auras (Not like I need any. Why not Equip though?)
  3. Is Unblockable as a creature (Effects are better, but why not?)
  4. Can bypass both Shroud/Hexproof, & better.

Is anyone able to make a list of such things that exist with all 4 qualities? It'd be great for others w/ this problem as well if one can make a list with all colors; & combinations if any... Thanks BTW! :)
