Always glad to contribute.

It's a shame this deck doesn't run a bit of blue. That would be a major change, but think of what it could buy you. There are some really good mill cards in blue, and you could run Phenax, God of Deception. That and a few cheap, tough defenders could give you blockers to buy you time and serve as mill engines later. Phenax also combos beautifully with Eater of the Dead. And with the spot of blue, you could also cast Consuming Aberration. Finally, blue would give you access to counterspells to protect your must-have cards, like Waste Not.

There are some walls that could defend you and play well with Phenax. Still might serve in a lesser capacity without him. Cinder Wall, Wall of Corpses, Wall of Diffusion, Wall of Earth, Wall of Souls.
Vampire Nighthawk is just such value, though. It costs just 1 more than most of the walls just listed, can attack if needed, flies and has deathtouch (which is great blocking), and has lifelink to recharge you.

I've got a discard deck that uses some of these elements, but I lack the cards for some as well, including Phenax. This is inspiring me to maybe revisit my deck and incorporate some of the things from this conversation.

Blood Moon is pretty metal

Slaughter Pact

Head Games maybe Foreigner isn't the most metal to some, but it works.

most if not metal is all about big daddy Satan Demonic Tutor and the old one with the devil in the art.

Funeral Charm

Damnation Stone Rain Wall of Corpses Wrath of God Apocalypse Helldozer Kill-Suit Cultist Avatar of Woe Rain of Gore Man-o'-WarUnholy Strength

I mean shit, Karn, Silver Golem is metal!

The Urborg Panther, Breathstealer and Feral Shadow combo isn't going to come off often at all, and those creatures are a bit sub-par otherwise, so I'd drop those. Knight of Dusk is also a bit overpriced, its essentially going to end up being a 2/2 unblockable for 3, except slightly worse. I'd replace those with things like Tormented Soul, the dauthi, an Ornithopter, or a Signal Pest to trigger your commander's ninjutsu. For defenses, you might like Ophiomancer and Royal Assassin, both of which should usually outperform Wall of Corpses, and the latter of which would help out your Scarblade Elite. I'd also consider putting in a Ruthless Ripper, which is good either for defense or for triggering ninjutsu.

You also might consider other stuff that like creatures dying, such as Toshiro Umezawa, Harvester of Souls, and Reaper from the Abyss.

Because you have to Assemble the Legion in preparation to Launch the Fleet through the Raging River and fight until there's Confusion in the Ranks, Dissension in the Ranks, and eventually Illness in the Ranks until the very end, upon the Wall of Corpses, The Cheese Stands Alone.

Lotleth Troll > Anurid Brushhopper if you're trying to discard cards

Caustic Caterpillar > Reclamation Sage it's more flexible

High Priest of Penance > Wall of Corpses you can choose their monster or even destroy their enchantment or something

Magus of the Abyss > Abyssal Gatekeeper way more threatening

Hell's Caretaker > Apprentice Necromancer more mana but more flexible and bigger threat

also Sadistic Hypnotist would be savage

I have already been considering moving Killing Wave into the sideboard. It is in the deck for token decks or weenie decks. I have the Slaughter for when I cannot kill something with Wall of Corpses. So maybe that could go into the board too.

The Pristine Talisman have a few uses. They fuel the Wall of Limbs which is my main finisher. And help pay the life cost per turn of Season of the Witch. I want to keep those for now and see when playtesting if the other lifegain is sufficient. Thank you again, I will move the others off and see how it goes! This gets me a little closer to 60 cards.
