The Reaver Cleaver

Legendary Artifact — Equipment

Equipped creature gets +1/+1 and has trample and "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player or planeswalker, create that many Treasure tokens." (They're colourless artifacts with , Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any colour.)

Equip (: Attach this to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery. This enters the battlefield unattached and stays on the battlefield if the creature this card is attached to leaves the battlefield.)

Radiolarian I was finally able to play the deck a few times today, though not as much as I would have liked to. Only had 4 games, two of which I won, and the other two which I got close to winning before being killed by the other most threatening player.

I'd say performance was fine overall. When the deck went off, it went off, and I'd usually be able to steal opponents' creatures and then sac them for Rakdos' effect. I found that I would often target myself for his ability to dig through my deck, mostly because I felt like I was struggling on hitting land drops for whatever reason (then naturally, there was one game where I was absolutely flooded lol).

The deck felt somewhat slow and clunky, especially in the early game. I might need to rethink my mana rocks/ramp. The deck performed best when I'd have value death creatures out like Cathodion and Atsushi, the Blazing Sky. Otherwise stealing opponents' creatures was useful in messing up their boardstate, but wouldn't leave me with much mana to cast other exiled spells unless I happened to have Ashnod's Altar out or had made a crap ton of treasure tokens with The Reaver Cleaver. I think the deck's biggest weakness is that, unfortunately, there are virtually no (cheap) instant-speed steal effects in Rakdos.

I feel like more consistency and value generation is needed.

I might have to rethink the deck's strategy and focus more on sacrificing my own things for value, but that kind of sucks since the whole point of this deck was to be a theft deck. I'd rather refine that strategy instead, but I'm often drawn to building and playing "optimally". I guess we'll see what I end up doing, but for now I'll stick with the theft theme.

Diamond Pick-Axe, The Reaver Cleaver and Beamtown Beatstick help you evade commander tax or just ramp.

This is actually a pretty neat idea for a list. Judith has a really cool and unique effect, giving spells deathtouch is sick! I think if I were building the deck I would try to capitalize on this by running even MORE sweepers just so that you have a critical mass of them and are almost always able to keep the board locked down. So almost like a wrath-prison deck. If it were me. There are so many of these effects so you could really go deep on them, Blazing Volley from your board seems great, Scouring Sands, Yamabushi's Storm, Rolling Earthquake, Molten Disaster, Pyroclasm, Bonfire of the Damned, Starstorm, Devastating Dreams is a personal favorite but this may not be the right list for that one. I'd go up to like 15 of these even. Maybe also something like Mithril Coat to protect Judith/other creats if you decide to go into symmetrical sweepers. I know it's a core part of this build but I would cut stuff like Dragon Fodder and Witty Roastmaster, the Redcap combo is good by itself and it doesn't need these more fragile pieces that need to sit on the battlefield. I'd swap them for more grindy advantage cards that want to go to the yard like Unlucky Witness, Bloodghast, Nether Traitor, Filth, supplemented with things like Grim Harvest, Skullclamp, Contamination, Chthonian Nightmare, Deadly Dispute. Necrotic Ooze combo seems right at home here too, but that might be a little boring. If you want to be more lethal, just run more tutors/entomb/buried alive to assemble a redcap or ooze kill. Straight up Reanimate spells could be good to use on your opponents fatties who just died to your death rain. Rise of the Dark Realms Grimoire of the Dead and Sheoldred  Flip can all mass reanimate your opponents' creatures. Shadowspear to remove indestructible from those pesky Etalis. Meltdown and Brotherhood's End for artifacts. Spiteful Banditry, The Reaver Cleaver, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, Big Score maybe for additional ramp. Ramp seems like a big deal since it's a 5 mana commander. You have some really sick cards in here already I love the Withering Boon, Delirium, Rakdos Charm, and Blood for the Blood God! is amazing in this. Great ideas, take my suggestions with a grain of salt because really the build I am suggesting is potentially very different from this one. +1

That doesn't sound too bad to be and would be worth a closer look. I'll try to integrate Neheb, the Eternal & The Reaver Cleaver into the deck. And if the mana output convinces me, I'll give Aggravated Assault another chance ;)

Btw, is there a public list of your Aurelia deck? I'm a bit curious what it looks like exactly, but I couldn't find it in your TappedOut decks...

You're welcome, friend! I've actually managed to find more than a few ways to keep the energy-flow going in my own Aurelia deck, to fuel not just Aggravated Assault, but also promote spell-casting in both the pre- and post combat main phases. This I did by adding lots of mana/treasure-generation capacity that depends on my attacks and the damage I deal (with cards like Ancient Copper Dragon, Neheb, the Eternal, Sword of Feast and Famine and The Reaver Cleaver). Thanks for making a good point about Lightning Greaves by the way; now I'm reconsidering it myself.

The Reaver Cleaver and Indulge / Excess can both make a ton of treasures.

Malik, Grim Manipulator is probably meta dependent but if you see a lot of Aristocrats or other sacrifice strategies it could be amazing.

I guess that's fair on the Scepter. I always looked at it as Green's The Reaver Cleaver. I did run it in more of an Aristocrats deck and a Goad deck though (Prossh, Skyraider of Kher/Marisi, Breaker of the Coil). Removal after attacks was especially brutal in Prossh since I usually went greedy and sac'ed all my tokens to Prossh so he'd hit harder.

Yeah, I've been adding City on Fire to a few of my token decks recently thanks to convoke and the price being reasonable.
