Gone Missing

Sorcery

Put target permanent on top of its owner's library.

Investigate. (Put a colourless Clue artifact token onto the battlefield with ", Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.")

Nathanaiel, I have had a look at some investigate and other artifact token generating cards (not many, mainly treasure from ixalan). And my best option seems to be Trail of Evidence, which generates card advantage and clue tokens, which both seem like good options for my deck. I will have a think to if I want to add this or not later, and what would come out for it.

Other options include: Confirm Suspicions, Gone Missing, Depths of Desire, Hornswoggle, Spell Swindle, Trove of Temptation and Press for Answers

One more comment. I don't think Murder Investigation would happen inside North Korea... there seem to be a lot of mysterious disappearances and the only investigations seem to be outside North Korea. Try Gone Missing.

I feel like this deck needs some bigger and splashier spells to get full value out of Homunculus; he can only reduce the generic portion of the mana cost, so right now, having multiple Voracious Readers doesn't seem to do much. Even the first one, it makes Anticipate and Incendiary Flow cheaper, and Fiery Temper if you're not casting it for Madness.

I imagine that you could do some fun stuff with Epiphany at the Drownyard (Mainly fueling Reveler and flipping Homonculus right now, but both of those are worthy causes). Rise from the Tides or Pore Over the Pages could also be good (Rise is a solid wincon in this deck, whereas Pore is card advantage/selection, and helps fuel your graveyard a bit).

Docent of Perfection  Flip might also be reasonable; it's pretty solid on its own, and it also buffs Stormchaser Mage when you flip it. If you don't want any big high-cost spells in there, I'd recommend cutting Homunculus for it.

This deck could also be a good fit for Metallurgic Summonings; even if you're only making 1/1s or 2/2s, that's still free creatures, as well as some insane card advantage if you get to use its activated ability. Could also be a good fit in the sideboard for longer games.

As for sideboard, Release the Gremlins is probably a good idea. Even for just X = 1, it blows up an artifact and gives you a creature to block with (or attack with depending on your needs). There's currently no single-card way in Standard currently for Izzet to deal with enchantments permanently, but Gone Missing could help, possibly in combination with a counterspell of some kind.

That's about all I've got. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, unfortunately I think you're right about Mind's Dilation. I'll move it to the side deck and reduce Mist Intruder to 3 to add a couple Benthic Infiltrators.

Confirm Suspicions would work great! I'm not entirely sure how to fit it in, though. I should probably just swap out the Gone Missings, but I like their potential synergy with Ingest. Maybe with the additional clue generation I could reduce Ongoing Investigation to 2, but Confirm Suspicions's high mana cost makes it seem risky. Likely the best course of action would be to swap out one Gone Missing and Part the Waterveil, but I'd like to keep Part the Waterveil for now as well.

Lordeh -- Why Unsubstantiate over Disperse?

lockiew -- Ah, it's so funny, you know I resisted using Alhammarret's Archive for that same reason, but it always seems to get me back where I need to be if I'm falling behind. The difference between 2 triggers and 4 triggers on Sphinx's Tutelage can make all the difference. I feel like Take Inventory is just two slow for this deck. -- Why would you say to -2 Turn Aside (which I only have 2 of on the mainboard) but then say +1 Negate? The only spells I need to counter are things that target Fevered Visions and Sphinx's Tutelage. I don't know if I've ever won a game without at least one of those in play throughout most of the game.

I know some of these are not mainboard viable, but Turn Aside would be effective against: Dromoka's Command, Collective Effort, Angelic Purge, Gone Missing, Root Out, and Springsage Ritual

I'm not sure on Conclave Naturalists or Mockery of Nature. A creature spell that targets a permanent I control. Countered, yes/no??? That would be good to know. lol

Fiery Temper is tempting for its madness cost, but Collective Defiance (especially with a Curious Homunculus  Flip on the board) seems so much more versatile.

I do agree with you on Pore Over the Pages as a x1 -- I'll have to take a look.

Hyperalgialysis -- Thanks again for all the epic support and help you've given me.
