Been trying to complete a solid waste not kit, this has been one of the most successful versions for me.
Has issues with fast combo and aggro decks, but can be solved by adding some more selective discard or creature removal from sideboard.
Can possibly win T2 with T1 -exile Simian Spirit Guide play Waste Not
T2 -main turn play Kari Zev's Expertise+Wheel of Fate with an extra Simian Spirit Guide
combo mana generated into
-Liliana's Caress and Burning Inquiry
-or Ribbons from graveyard
-or hard cast Demigod of Revenge and swing for win.
or all three at once!
Deck strengths.
RNGRNG can be strong in your favor, as you have several combo options.
Surprise comeback wins. Several times I have come back and won from behind way behind with a single combo generated from a miracle draw of Reforge the Soul or a lucky Burning Inquiry
With a slight variation of this deck, my best single round combo result so far is 28 black mana generated and 26 cards drawn, and 20+ 2/2 zombies out.
(this was using a few Dream Salvage main board) and Raven's Crime once you get 10+ cards in hand and had floating black mana to empty opponents hand. I had 4 copies of Waste Not in play after I was done.
Strangely I still lost that game with opponent bouncing Stonehorn Dignitary every turn and hitting with flyers. I had to throw out the 28 floating mana as I had no card to spend it on.
Consistency
Despite the decks variability and RNG, T4 and T5 wins are very common.
Deck weaknesses
A drawback for Miracle draw of Reforge the Soul is that you are on draw stage and don't have any black instants to dump with for finishing. Need suggestions here for instant black mana only options. Suffer the Past may be the option I am looking for.
Sideboard requires extra graveyard hate, as our discard suit helps several delve, flashback and recursion decks.If card:grafdiggers's cage comes in, remove Demigod of Revenge and Goblin Dark-Dwellers
Opponent enchantments
Really considering splashing white for enchantment removal as I have no options with Red / Black that I can find.
Maybeboard
This deck is fairly flexible, and I have tried several versions with the cards in the maybeboard. I will need more play to fine tune it.
Some options that have worked are
4x Dream Salvage main board can work REALLY well when everything lines up and you have mana to use it, but I found very often it remained dead in hand and a dead draw when you were at 0 cards in hand.
4x Extirpate or 4x Surgical Extraction I really enjoy keeping a few Surgical Extraction in deck as you can often get rid of an opponents win condition in T1 or T2.
4x Browbeat I love this card, great when you are ahead, but weaker when you are behind or facing lifegain.
4x Lightning Bolt obviously this is a given
4x Liliana of the Veil This is a card I do not have and KNOW will improve this deck substantially. I may have to pony up for at least 2 of.
Some options that have not worked well are
Haunting Echoes seemed like a good fit, but in three games i finally managed to get it off, I still lost due to opponent already being ahead. A 5 mana drop like Demigod of Revenge or Reforge the Soul is much preferred.
Everlasting Torment I have tried this card several times and never gotten it out in time to help me vs heavy lifegain aggro decks. May just be my luck, but I will experiment more. Very strong when you have 2 and 3 damage sweepers left in.
