Zada and Mirrorwing

People have been brewing with Zada, Hedron Grinder and Mirrorwing Dragon for some time now, but the resulting decks don't seem to be as strong as hoped.

Here is my take, which is heavy on Ramp and +1/+1 Counters, and also has a bit of Trample and Draw.

HOW TO PLAY

Early Game

  • Play Creatures to Ramp, as if your life depended on it.

  • Don't forget that Beastcaller Savant has Haste, so you can get in early damage with it.

  • Block with Blisterpod as soon as you can, because you want the 1/1 Scion to help you Ramp.

Mid Game

Late Game

  • From the testing I have done there usually isn't a late game. It's not unusual to hit for lethal on Turn 7, often doing 15+ damage.

  • You can use cards that give Trample to get the last bit of damage to through. Infuse with the Elements is particularly good because it gives your Creatures +1/+1 Counters AND Trample.

  • If you need Delerium for Deathcap Cultivator and Might Beyond Reason you can sac Mirrorpool. Usually that will give you a Creature, Instant, Sorcery, and Land in your Graveyard.

  • Saccing Mirrorpool is also useful to put an extra Mirrorwing Dragon on the field, or make an extra Zada, Hedron Grinder.

SIDEBOARD

Aim High to deal with Flying Creatures or give you a Vigilance effect.

Clear Shot destroys a key Opponent Creature.

Heroic Intervention protects you from most board wipes.

Woodcutter's Grit buffs Creatures plus stops them from dying to Exile or Destroy spells.

PREVIOUS SIDEBOARD CARDS

Otherworldly Outburst lets you recover from board wipes.

The deck has been testing surprisingly well.

is appreciated if you like it.
