Who is the Most Un-fun/Oppressive Commander?
Commander (EDH) forum

My playgroup is a bunch of ruthless pricks. Fun for us is making everyone else miserable. So to make things extra fun for the group I want to build the most un-fun, unfair, unbearable and oppressive deck. It doesn't need to win turn 2, but it must make everyone at the table miserable.
So please let me know who you think would be the best at being the worst, and any cards or combos that are a must for the commander.
Thanks
P.S. Hard locks, infinite combos/turns are welcome. Budget is of no concern (if I dont have the card I will make a proxy, I dont plan on using the deck anywhere other than with this playgroup)
Wow, this sounds so much fun! And you seem to be enjoying this style so much! (insert sarcasm).
Three possible ways: taxation (Grand Arbiter Augustin IV), hard control (Damia, Sage of Stone, check Dominus - Dreamcrusher Edition), Chaos (UR deck that has all the cards that say random on them and stall the game (Keranos, God of Storms))

An annoying deck has to have blue because blue has counterspells. Wiping out your opponent's impressive boardstates with mass removal makes them feel miserable, so white has to be in. Finally, red has some of the most powerful land destruction in the game, so your deck will have to be the Jeskai colors. Numot, the Devastator has everything you might need for an annoying deck.

Nath stax works wonderfully together and there is a wonderful edh deck here.
Even without the over the top expensive cards in there, setting up a stax element on turn 3 is not unusual. Your commander provides fodder to protect you from your own cards and acts as a form of control by himself. Budget your cards properly and with a bit of luck, you can pretty much have everyone's lands and hands gone by turn 6 or 7 with severe hamstrings coming in around turn 4.

I know to most it doesnt sound fun, but for us its a blast. Each person is constantly trying to screw over the table more than the last person. It may help that we drink a lot while playing this way.
Infect is played off and on by a couple of the guys. So thats out. Damia is played also. We give him unrelenting shit about how close the deck is to Dominus, despite his claims that the deck is 100% original.
Ad Nausem looks fun, and I own all the cards already except for Maralen. I think I will be making this one just for shits and giggles.
Taxation, the name alone sounds painful. And it fits the theme of this time of year. Good possibility I make make a deck like this.
Chaos might be good as it would screw over everybody's plans. Not sure if its oppressive enough though. I will kick around that idea

Memnarch. Since the rules change, you can now run him as blue artifacts.

Nath Stax may have just jumped to the front of the pack.
Thanks for the quick responses and good suggestions. I may build all the suggestions and rotate them for each get together.

Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is super unfun, he can kill very quickly and consistently.
Norin the Wary can be disgusting in a tuned list. Chaos everywhere.
Nath of the Gilt-Leaf is the worst stax general in existence. I hate playing against him.
Zur the Enchanter with Necropotence and Solitary Confinement is painful to play against. Its a deck with 15 enchantment options, 30 counterspells, and 40 lands.
Arcum Dagsson makes games take no time at all. It is too fast and consistent.
Hokori, Dust Drinker might not be competitive, but he makes games slow and boring. Definitely an option.
Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir can shut them down if they are playing control. Add a Knowledge Pool for fun and profit.
Derevi, Empyrial Tactician goes in with Hokori, Dust Drinker for Stasis type games that take forever. Killing people with 1/1's is terrible.
Finally, a special mention to Iona, Shield of Emeria and Llawan, Cephalid Empress. Both are designed just to mess with blue decks. These are decks that you play once then take apart, just to prove a point.

If you want to be a complete price you should build Azami, Lady of Scrolls. My group banned me from playing the deck anymore because it was not only oppressive from the getbgo, but I got to take insanely long turns while they all just watched me play out my imminent win.
Some of the fun ways to win...some people bitch that it's not interactive enough, but who cares, you're trying to be azami price right?
Archaeomancer , Crystal Shard, and Time Warp or Temporal Mastery = infinite turns. Enter the Infinite placing Beacon of Tomorrows on your library also = infinite turns. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir makes these easy to accomplish.
Azami, Lady of Scrolls, Mind Over Matter, and Laboratory Maniac = win. Works with Arcanis the Omnipotent, too.
Coat of Arms with a Cyclonic Rift is cool if you go the wizard tribal approach, mine wasn't.
Spin into Myth or Vendilion Clique followed by Tunnel Vision is a total price move.
Pili-Pala and Grand Architect make infinite mana of any color you want. This is cool with Capsize or Blue Sun's Zenith and other draw X spells.
Cast Through Time is fun in here as well. Patron Wizard makes it hard for anyone to do anything unless you say it's ok. These are the most oppressive maneuvers with Azami. She is really mean and nasty in all the most fun ways and most of this doesn't even cause damage to your opponents so it's even worse.

Oh...that Pili-Pala Grand Architect thing works insanely well for Memnarch as well. Steal your opponents boards all at once? Yes please.

Ok so I got a lot more options than I thought i would. With that said Im definitely going to build them all and play them on a rotation. I will record the number of times Im called a profane name for each deck. At the end of the rotation I will see what gets the highest score and foil that deck out for consistant play within the group.
Tanks again everyone. If you think of any more ideas post them up and I will add it to the rotation.

Nekusar, the Mindrazer's force-feed strategy is kind of hard to stop since it has so much redundancy. It's also demoralizing as hell. Even if you don't have him in play, you can still annihilate people.
Though I don't think it holds a candle to the Ad Nauseam thing.

Avacyn, Angel of Hope. And then you toss Worldslayer on her and things get real bad in a hurry.

I'd say Nath of the Gilt-Leaf stax but it's been posted. A well build stax deck regardless of commander can function well ina competitive group.
I'll second Nekusar, it can be built blisteringly fast and a VERY brutal with the large amount of synergy and redundantcy. Hurricane Nekusar is a deck that my friend pilots frequently and is incredibly strong.
Maelstrom wanderer tends to be incredibly strong, vomiting value all over the board.

Have I mentioned how I made my friend cry by playing MagicalHacker - Zedruu the Greathearted?

I am said friend.
MagicalHacker, I still lose sleep over that deck.

I wish I had the honor of playing that deck MagicalHacker. I almost built it actually. I've been a fan of it for a while.

Sydri, Galvanic Genius or Zedruu the Greathearted sydri is just good old plain mean f*** what you thought was fun and kill the world. Zedruu does all of that and while gently brushing the back of their neck and whispering in their ear " shhhh just let it happen. It'll all be over soon"

I would have to agree with Nekusar, the Mindrazer. My friends all hate playing against the wheel deck. Its disruptive in so many ways, but the strategy is so simple. wheel the crap outta your oppenents and make em eat damage while doing it.

Mogis, God of Slaughter is a another good option for a stax deck.
January 10, 2015 12:39 p.m.
Where's the link to "How to play unfun magic like a pro" article here? Its like 10 pages or something, complete with satire and pictures.
Go with Azami. Reason: 80% of her games turn Magic The Gathering into solitaire, which is the precise, exact opposite point of fun.
January 17, 2015 6:27 a.m.
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre as a commander in a colorless EDH deck with ramp artifacts is a pretty unfair beating. All Is Dust and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon provide you with board wipe options, and Karn Liberated is just a beating on his own. In short no one likes annihilator so you friends wont like you if you play it.

Infuct, EDH Style. Enjoy, but you will be hated out eventually, so go for the quick kill, be ruthless! Also, Ad Nauseam EDH if they don't know about Maralen of the Mornsong and her antics :)
