As much as I try to resist, when I saw Jodah, Archmage Eternal in the Dominaria spoilers I knew I had to do something with the card. My inner Timmy demanded it of me. This weird Dinosaur/Planeswalker good stuff deck was the end result of these urges.

The Design Philosophy

To achieve maximum efficiency with Jodah's Fist of Suns ability, you have to be getting cards for cheaper, which means you have to have a deck with lots of 6+ CMC cards. To also make this work, the deck needed to have mana dorks that can tap for any colour. Which leads to the biggest choice in building this deck: Why dinosaurs? Well, for the first half of the challenge, most of the high CMC cards in Standard are dinosaurs. For the other half, most of the mana dorks that tap for any colour conveniently synergize with dinosaurs.

The Creatures

Jodah, Archmage Eternal is the single most important card in this deck, as it enables you to drop big threats as early as turn four. Playing a deck based around a four of is very risky, but certainly more interesting than yet another mono-red aggro list, so it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Drover of the Mighty and Atzocan Seer are this deck's mana dorks. Each has a different role in the deck as well, as Drover of the Mighty can become a 3/3, which makes him resilient to burn like Shock and Goblin Chainwhirler and a threatening blocker, while Atzocan Seer can get back a dino if one somehow makes it to the graveyard.

Etali, Primal Storm, Nezahal, Primal Tide, and Zacama, Primal Calamity are the main board dinosaurs of this deck. You may have noticed I have most legendary cards in the deck as a one-of, that is so I don't draw two of one legendary and end up with a dead draw. These dinos all serve one purpose: to be big threats as soon as they hit the battlefield. Zacama is especially fun, because you can slam it on the field and then immediately play another big card. Fun times all around.

Darigaaz Reincarnated is big, hasty, evasive, and hard to remove. What's not to love?

Tishana, Voice of Thunder and Muldrotha, the Gravetide are both hand advantage, with Tishana drawing you a few cards when she hits the battledield, and Muldrotha allowing you to use your graveyard as an extra hand. While they aren't dinosaurs, they are powerful creatures I'd hate to pass up on.

The Tutors

Ajani Unyielding digs for any creature and planeswalkers, and has other abilities. Nice all around.

Ajani, Valiant Protector is only partly a tutor, but his +1 is very important to this deck. Having a threat in hand to play is always important, and this Ajani helps it happen.

Benefaction of Rhonas let's you dig for a creature AND an enchantment, and stocks your graveyard for Muldrotha/Atzocan Seer shenanigans.

Board the Weatherlight is nice because a lot of the big cards in this deck are legendary, as well Jodah.

Mastermind's Acquisition is a card that either finds a specific answer in the deck, or has the fun upside of pulling stuff from the sideboard in case you are up against a deck that gets hosed by something in the sideboard.

The Planeswalkers

The Ajanis have already been partly discussed, but Ajani Unyielding's -2 is a Path to Exile, which permanently removes any problematic gods, and both Ajanis pump already big creatures, which is nice but not always important.

Chandra, Bold Pyromancer probably looks strange over Chandra, Torch of Defiance, but in this deck I swear it's better. Pyromancer costs six mana, which makes it efficient with Jodah, and does both of Torch's +1s at the same time. I also love the idea of people getting crushed by duel deck planeswalkers, but that's not important to anything other than personal pride.

Nicol Bolas, God-Pharoh is a two of in this deck because he's just so good. Steal stuff from the opponent's deck? Sure. Hand control? Of course. Board wipe? Why not.

Random Good Stuff

Renegade Map doesn't lend itself to any crazy combos, but it does thin our deck of lands and it can be looped with Muldrotha, so I'd say that's good enough for a three-of.

Overwhelming Splendor hoses mono-red aggro, and shuts down Walking Ballista, so that earns it a spot in this deck for me.

Sunbird's Invocation let's more threats hit the field at the same time, so it makes it in the deck as another three-of.

The Lands

Cascading Cataracts is an indestructible land that helps mana fix. What's more to like?

Evolving Wilds is the the poor man's sac-land, but it's all we have in standard. It is a nice mana fixer and deck thinner though, so no complaints from me.

Scavenger Grounds is some main board graveyard hate, though I wish it tapped for a colour. It does with Cascading Cataracts, but that's not every game.

The Sideboard

Authority of the Consuls is great against token decks and aggro decks, which seems to be very important in the current meta.

Burning Sun's Avatar is some pretty solid creature removal/ planeswalker removal/ burn.

Consulate Crackdown ruins any deck that relies on artifacts, though they are scarce.

Hour of Revelation is a situational board wipe that needs to be used sparingly, because it blows up all of your permanents as well.

River's Rebuke blows out any fringe Lich's Mastery decks, and is a one-sided board wipe that hurts any mana intensive deck.

Sandwurm Convergence is a good stuff enchantment that also shuts down random flying man decks that pop up here and there. Suck it, Favorable Winds!

Shalai, Voice of Plenty helps against removal heavy match-ups, especially against cards like Vraska's Contempt and Lightning Strike. Also pumps the team, but that is seldom relevant.

Sorcerous Spyglass hurts any deck that relies on planeswalkers and Ballistas. Next.

Finally, Verdant Sun's Avatar helps keep your life total nice and high, and is a good body for five mana instead of seven. Bring them in against burn or aggro.

In Conclusion

Thanks for reading this all the way through, and I hope you like this deck! I appreciate suggestions, enjoy!
