Ajani, Valiant Protector Discussion

oxyzen on Sunburst Ramos (new commander)

@tomashin I can put counters onto him by saccing modular creatures, Evolution Vat, Ajani, Valiant Protector, Power Conduit, Energy Chamber, which I can then proliferate. It is not ideal, but it works.

Ajani Unyielding or Ajani, Valiant Protector would go really, really well in the deck because they both scrape your deck for creatures or 'nonland permanents' of which you have, well, every nonland card in the mainboard. There's a lot of slugging and creature hate in Modern, so Ajani gives heavy midgame draw to colors not known for their draw speed, and bolster/overrun mechanics, to boost you over the top of your opponent.

Sticking with a pure Permanents deck, I would extremely highly recommend Gideon's Intervention for the sideboard. Basically every top Standard deck can be very nearly shut down by playing Gideon's and picking the right card name. It's slightly inferior to Dispossess/Lost Legacy combo but has the added bonus of being able to shut down a wincon piece that's already on the board.

Lastly, in the Land category, Fortified Village may be easier to meet the untap conditions of in the critical opening volley of the game than Canopy Vista. Also, Westvale Abbey  Flip's tokens trigger off Human effects from Thalia's Lieutenant and Metallic Mimic and can also serve as a sacrificial dump for Exemplar of Strength's counters, and the transform effect is a nearly unstoppable win con almost any time you can trigger it.

I can't believe i'm going to say that but, maybe you want to swap out Nissa? Her -2 is pretty sinergistic and the tokens can be a nice fodder for things like Ashnod's but you can have better tokens generators and better effects to pump all the creatures. i Would rather have Ajani, Mentor of Heroes or even Ajani, Valiant Protector since their effects are stronger than nissa (plus, none of them have minus abilities besides their ultimates so they tend to be 'bulkier')

your deck is nice, i've tought about building a deck between this couple here, and your deck sums up most of the things that i imagined and maybe i'll build something similar after i get my way into Sidisi. +1

So with any white deck, there's a package I always recommend:
Stoneforge Mystic
Sword of Feast and Famine (Really all the swords, minus UG/WR)
Umezawa's Jitte
Blade of Selves (super synergy with your ETB effects)

The mediocre token generators are likely my first place to look for cuts. I would reconsider:
Advent of the Wurm
Storm Herd
Ajani Goldmane
Elspeth Tirel
The new Ajani, Ajani Unyielding might be more what you're in the market for here.

I think the rest is on the right track for sure. Sylvan Library is another super powerful on color effect you could take advantage of. Craterhoof Behemoth and Avenger of Zendikar as well.

I haven't personally played many 1 mana dorks in my decks, so I don't have the most informed opinion here, but they might be more of a liability, given how often board sweepers come down in EDH.

Green Sun's Zenith, Dryad Arbor, and Chord of Calling all add another level of versatility to a deck like this.

Fetches are always good, and if you do end up including more sac lands, cards like Titania, Protector of Argoth, Lotus Cobra, and Tireless Tracker become awesome value engines. With your basic-heavy manabase right now though, they may not be at their best. An easy budget add might be Krosan Verge. It manafixes, sacs, and ramps.

I like where you're going with this, let me know what you think.

Energy based counters might be a little more budget friendly, although those ballista are hard to replace. But some of the more expensive cards like the gearhulk or rishkar either aren't needed or are more optional. I prefer Ruinous Path over Murder. With energy based counters you can use Die Young though, which is cheaper. If you can't afford Nissa, Ajani, Valiant Protector can be effective for half the price.

My energy counters deck is in my profile if you care to check it out, basically Winding Constrictor + Fabrication Module can produce a lot of counters quickly. But without building around the energy mechanics, a lot of those cards wouldn't be effective enough. The suggestions in the comment above are all standard in the non-energy constrictor-counters decks.

And Aetherborn Marauder is one of my favorite cards in these decks. Nothing like sucking up 8 counters and having a 10/10 flyer with lifelink.

Deus of Calamity - Not really MLDXenagos, God of Revels Ajani, Valiant Protector - That creature search is solid Sorin, Solemn Visitor - mass lifelink, especially with myriad creatures can make for massive life swings... Haste-heavy builds seem to be a necessity to her.Signal the Clans pretty fun, low budget creature search; I like making another player do the random choice sortof like; "pick your poison"Soltari Visionary
