Gonti, Lord of Luxury EDH- Budget Birthday Deck

Commander / EDH Budget Mono-Black

All_father

A defensive, retributive deck that plays off the enemies fear of what you may have taken and an almost endless barrage of removal. Gonti provides a pretty good defensive threat having deathtouch, and should be traded/sacrificed off often, as casting him again will allow you to get another card from whomever you believe has the best cards for the moment. Ample mana ramp helps pay for Gonti as he climbs the + commander death tax ladder, as well as to pay for whatever you steal with Gonti. Plenty of removal to punish those that would attack you or threats that would end the game, and draw to help get to it.

About the budget--I've been making EDH decks as birthday presents for my friends for a while now. The goal is to keep the deck around $40 at time of creation, using only cards I have currently in my collection. Sometimes I go over, sometimes I go under, but never by any extreme amount. The maybe board of this deck is a list of cards I recommend the birthday boy/girl gets to replace other, less impactful cards in the deck--they're more expensive cards & cards I just don't have in my collection. A note on this particular deck: Hell's Caretaker was an iffy inclusion at its steep cost, but seemed so good in the deck I couldn't help but put it in.
